Movie Based On UNCHARTED Video Game And DC Comic Series Finally Lands A Director

Sony Pictures have finally found a director for the big screen adaptation of Naughty Dog's Uncharted franchise, but is Horrible Bosses and Identify Thief helmer Seth Gordon the right man for the job? It certainly sounds like it! Hit the jump for further details.

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures are in talks with Seth Gordon for him to helm the live action adaptation of the critically acclaimed and top selling Playstation video game franchise, Uncharted. The story has also been continued in comic book format through DC. The Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief director once helmed the celebrated documentary King of King, in which he immersed himself in video game culture, so it's a world he's definitely familiar with. Safe House scribe David Guggenheim penned the screenplay, and the studio liked it so much that they got him to write Bad Boys 3 for them. The hunt is now on to fill the lead roles. How do you guys feel about this news?

Im not gonna lie, i feel like Ryan Reynolds would be a great Drake. Also, based off the picture in this article, it kinda looks like him.
ezio619 - 2/4/2014, 5:19 PM
hopefully its a good movie, i vote for Jensen Ackles or Chris Pratt as Nathan Drake!!
Pasto - 2/4/2014, 5:22 PM
JOOOOOIN together.
CaptainObvious - 2/4/2014, 5:22 PM
I recently just played the first three Uncharted games within a week and I loved them all. I'm cautious about this seeing as how there are no good adaptations of video games, but I'm curious as to where it's going.
MrCBM56 - 2/4/2014, 5:24 PM
Whats the pint of a movie? The games themselves are basically one.
xfan320 - 2/4/2014, 5:27 PM

DO IT!!!
P862010 - 2/4/2014, 5:28 PM
^too bad drake is like 30 years old what is nathan like 45 lol
McNyagano - 2/4/2014, 5:30 PM
Ummm yeah cool. The games are awesome! Let's hope the director does the characters justice. Can't wait!
thebagman - 2/4/2014, 5:32 PM
bradley cooper as Drake
thebagman - 2/4/2014, 5:33 PM
harrison ford or deniro as sully
CaptainObvious - 2/4/2014, 5:33 PM
I think Chris Evans would be a good Nathan Drake.
ALegendaryPanda - 2/4/2014, 5:33 PM

Assassin's Creed

Nice! I hope they all turn out awesome.
TheTyrantVirus - 2/4/2014, 5:34 PM
If Joe Flanigan from Stargate Atlantis were a bit younger, he'd be the best choice for Drake. Bruce Campbell for Sully. :)
JamesMan - 2/4/2014, 5:34 PM
The 304th fancast role for Nathan Fillion.

jamesbrando3 - 2/4/2014, 5:35 PM
Why do we even bother saying Fillion or Ackles? lol we should know by now that they'll pick someone 'out of the box' like Michael Cera lol and expect us to be happy about it...
TheTyrantVirus - 2/4/2014, 5:37 PM
Here's Joe Flanigan for those who don't know. On top of the fact that he looks a lot like him, his character's attitude on SGA was very similar to Drake as well.
JoshWilding - 2/4/2014, 5:39 PM
Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper or Chris Evans. Easy.
AGoodHonestMan - 2/4/2014, 5:39 PM
Ryan Renolds would be a pretty good pick for Drake.
JamesMan - 2/4/2014, 5:40 PM

No, probably not... I love the games so much that it's impossible for me to think of an actor to portray Drake correctly. Nathan Fillion is definitely not the first person I think of for a lot of roles like many do. I am however all for Tom Selleck as Sully. He just need to stay alive for the franchise...
OnePunchBaldy - 2/4/2014, 5:42 PM
Shut up with Nathan Fillion and give it to Bradley Cooper
Interestein - 2/4/2014, 5:42 PM
Fillion, or I'm out.
JamesMan - 2/4/2014, 5:43 PM
Actually maybe Jack Gyllenhal or dare I say, Henry Cavill could portray Drake correctly.
JamesMan - 2/4/2014, 5:45 PM

He could still possibly retire or (hopefully not) pass on within the 6 years to make a trilogy. He'd be 75 once the series is over. Sully is more like 55+
GetsugaTensho22 - 2/4/2014, 5:47 PM
I don't like this director. What the hell!
TheRationalNerd - 2/4/2014, 5:50 PM

I could totally see Jack Gyllenhal starring as Nathan!
Blanka1212 - 2/4/2014, 5:53 PM
You people have some seriously uninspired choices. Chris Pine? Ryan Reynolds? Bradley Cooper? Come on...THIS should be Drake:

Kevwebsz - 2/4/2014, 5:54 PM
MisterHolmes - 2/4/2014, 5:55 PM
i think theres a reason Nathan Fillion doesnt get these roles people want him to gunna say it....Hes not that good
CaptainObvious - 2/4/2014, 5:56 PM
Casting Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake is as unimaginative and unoriginal as casting Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor.

"Bryan Cranston played an evil bald guy in Breaking Bad. He should be the evil bald guy in Batman vs. Superman."

"Nathan Fillion played a witty, good-looking adventurer in Firefly. He should play the witty, good-looking adventurer in Uncharted. I'm such a genius!"
Blanka1212 - 2/4/2014, 5:57 PM
That's Colin Donnell, from Arrow, in case you didn't know.

Klone - 2/4/2014, 5:58 PM
Cavill could work.
TheRationalNerd - 2/4/2014, 5:58 PM
If the Indiana Jones franchise could be modern Uncharted would be it.
Blanka1212 - 2/4/2014, 5:58 PM
DudeGuyMan, that is the utmost stupid [frick]ing reasoning I have ever read in my entire life for something.

"If I watched that show, that'd be my choice, but I don't, so..."

thebug022 - 2/4/2014, 6:00 PM
Zachary Levi as Drake
Bruce Campbell as Sully
MisterHolmes - 2/4/2014, 6:00 PM
i dont watch Arrow and i think that guy could do good, Im assuming he can act, and if he cant, give him lessons, this is hollywood, all that matters is the look and he looks like drake
Blanka1212 - 2/4/2014, 6:00 PM
Yessir, it is, BlackJack. Colin Donnell--Tommy on Arrow.
Klone - 2/4/2014, 6:19 PM
Cavill is like Goode, Elba and Fassbender. Suited to many, many different roles.
yonny616 - 2/4/2014, 6:21 PM
I like the idea for Bradley Cooper as Nate Drake.
MaxG93 - 2/4/2014, 6:50 PM
"King of KONG" not "King of King
