New iOS game based upon Kirkman's popular "Walking Dead" franchise kicks off their nine day Mayan apocalypse celebration today

Beginning today, Skybound, publisher of The Walking Dead: Assault and Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead, will host “the 9 days of the Apocalypse”, a celebration of our forthcoming apocalypse as predicted by the Mayans.

To celebrate this pivotal event in human history, Robert Kirkman is hosting a “9 days of the Apocalypse” event, where every day at 11AM PST on his Twitter feed, @RobertKirkman, he will set a new daily challenge for players of The Walking Dead: Assault.

Winners of each challenge will be awarded prizes that will be kept secret until the challenge is made, however, know that some of these will be very special items you will not be able to find anywhere else.

I hadn't seen this game until today... Kind of makes me want to get an iPad :o)

Thanks for this article. Didn't know another Walking Dead game existed outside Telltales epic on iOS.

i got like 2 more maps to unlock. so far my team is Rick (best gun shooter) Shane (most powerful gun an his perk is bad ass), Carol (her uzi is beast and she heals up the team quickly) and last is Andrea (love her long range shot an she is really fast to scout out the map). I take my time on the maps and dont rush through them. But it is an awesome game. I love when I lead a hoard of zombies into other survivors that keep shooting my team. i scream at my phone "[frick] you other survivors! die! die!"
