VIDEO GAMES: New Release Date For GRAND THEFT AUTO V Revealed

While the highly anticipated video game was supposed to be released this Spring, Rockstar have announced the official release date, and the game has been delayed a couple of months so the team can have some extra time to work on it. More after the jump...

Well, we made it this far, I guess we can wait a couple of more months. Rockstar have revealed on their website that Grand Theft Auto V, which was previosly scheduled for Spring release, is now going to be available on September 17, 2013. The reason for the delay is so they can improve the game:

" We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require. To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be. We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience."

According to Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto V will be their biggest open world game to date, and the story will follow three characters: Michael, a former bank robber, Trevor Phillips, Micheal's partner in crime with psychopathic behaviour and Franklin, who works as a repo man for Armenian car dealership.

Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches in the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created.

A bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California.

It will definitely be worth the wait. Besides, I will be busy with All of Us and watching Man Of Steel over and over. ;)

Oh my God a major video game being delayed several months for 'imporvements?' I am genuinely shocked by this news.

Sucks but whateve. I really want to play this game but it was already months away so I'm not in hooker beating mode yet anyways! ;)

Good for my wallet since I won't have to worry about having all the dough for this and The Last of Us.

Always a better alternative than rushing a game only to lack substance (Arkham City sidequests anyone?)
AlexDeLarge87 - 1/31/2013, 1:27 PM
Delay is good if it means more awesome game!:)

I was so ready for this to come out this spring but like someone said, my wallet can rest a little easy. Just pre-ordered Dead Space 3 and already getting quite a few games the next few months.
Gears Of War: Judgement
Bioshock Infinite
Tomb Raider(waiting on reviews)
Resident Evil Revelations

#TeamXbox :)

@Marvel87

Gears and Bioshock have my interest as well.
ATrueHero1987 - 1/31/2013, 3:06 PM
@GoILL Those games look great. I played every single GOW game, and loved them. Love the 1st Bioshock. I'm also interested in RE: Revelations. I've heard it's one of the best RE games. I like RE and I think Capcom is porting them to the consoles now to make up for the travesty know as RE6.lol
ATrueHero1987 - 1/31/2013, 3:20 PM
The Last Of Us has my interest as well. If the PS4 doesn't come out this year(it looks like it's not) then I will get a PS3.
AsianVersionOfET - 1/31/2013, 3:26 PM
Good, that means it'll be perfect. And it gives daddy more time to cuddle with The Last of Us!
Bigred20 - 1/31/2013, 5:47 PM
ARE YOU [frick]ING KIDDING ME?!
INFO - 1/31/2013, 8:03 PM
I CAN WAIT.
Fishandchips - 2/1/2013, 6:15 AM
I don't mind waiting if it means the game will be better, but I am a little bummed out.
