VIDEO GAMES: The Hobbit And Unidentified DC Superhero In Works From Warner Interactive!

Though they're yet to be officially announced by Warner Interactive, sources close to The Los Angeles Times reveal that work is moving ahead on video games for The Hobbit, LEGO Batman and an unidentified DC superhero...

The Los Angeles Times have run an article shedding some light on Warner Interactive's plans for 2012, revealing what games they're planning on releasing despite them not yet being officially announced by the studio. There's also talk of sequels to Batman: Arkham City and Mortal Kombat hitting in 2013, and I strongly advise clicking on the link below to check that out for yourselves.

The only game announced for 2012 is the downloadable title Gotham City Imposters (a Batman-related fighting game), but people familiar with the studio's plans who requested anonymity because the titles have not been announced confirmed several other games coming next year. They include a sequel to 2008 hit kids game Lego Batman, which will be released close to the movie "The Dark Knight Rises"; a Hobbit game that will likely launch several months before December movie "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey"; and a game featuring an unidentified DC Comics superhero.

My guess for the unidentified superhero game? Well, the fact it's being released in 2012 makes me doubt that it's Man of Steel related, and despite recent talk of Rocksteady being interested working on a game featuring Superman, there's no way they could get one out that quickly. (unless work has been moving ahead in secret for a while, something I find hard to believe) Instead, I wouldn't mind betting that this could be tied into "The New 52" somehow, and I'm sure there are many fans out there who would like a decent game featuring The Justice League! For now, we'll just have to wait and see...

I have a feeling that the unknown DC character will be Superman. I don't know why, but it seems likely to me.
Frogman - 10/18/2011, 11:35 AM
If it is Supes I hope it doesn't put Rocksteady off doing a Supes game...
RunDTC - 10/18/2011, 11:39 AM
Justice League Heroes was a decent game. would love to see Rocksteady do one though.

Fastestmanalive - 10/18/2011, 12:12 PM
I know, flying at super speed was kick ass, I also liked picking up people and dropping them from high places or chucking them into the water, I know very un- superman of me but it was fun lol.
Viltrumite - 10/18/2011, 12:25 PM
I really want a truly great game for either Superman or The Flash. Leaning more towards Superman, though.
TheFlash365 - 10/18/2011, 12:31 PM
Better be a FLASH game!!!

@Superguy the biggest problem with a GL game are the constructs. They are supposed to be limited only by your imagination. How do you translate that to a game?
chopfer15 - 10/18/2011, 12:44 PM
Off topic a little, but I would love to see a Supernatural game. I think more than any other show on tv would be an amazingly epic game. The sheer amounts of monsters and epic story lines just lend themselves to it. Jus sayin...

@rbfn04: I think an imagination based GL game could work quiet well. They have custom character creation in games... why not custom constructs? Throw some geometry in with effects (shields, energy output, etc.) and everytime you level up GL, you get access to new construct parts.

Not interested in constructing your own? Ok, choose from a list of available pre-built constructs.

Superman I'm hoping for OR... MK vs DC 2. :D
rbfn04 - 10/18/2011, 1:32 PM
@GLGeek haven't thought about it in that way. Good idea, sir.

@spindrift i thought about that as I watched Batman float aroun in AC: that can kinda work for Superman's flight..
thewolfx - 10/18/2011, 1:51 PM
wow ppl are getting excited for lego batman ...
Jib7z - 10/18/2011, 2:34 PM
You think Lego Batman 2 will be the Relaunch Batman?
thedude2936 - 10/18/2011, 4:13 PM
I think the next game could very well be a Superman game, and if rocksteady does hold the license to big blue then it seems to me dude from rocksteady was slyly hinting that they were workin on it.
catman - 10/18/2011, 5:15 PM
Please let it be a good new Superman game.. please WB get into Superman like you do with GL and Batman..please fire Geoff Johns,,,oh errr Change that... Johns is doing good on the new 52 books hes on... hoorray!!
Mechagino - 10/18/2011, 11:02 PM
@Froggy: You know funny you mention Marvel vs DC.

We're getting a new lego batman game right? Lego announced at SDCC they have the rights to BOTH DC and Marvel characters. So I wouldn't be surprised if we saw that in the near future.

A new Justice League game would be cool. but warner already said that they are working on a Suicide Squad game so i'm guessing this is it.
HellScorpion - 10/21/2011, 11:18 AM
