Marvel have today announced plans for Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past, a video game based on the classic comic book story. However, as you might expect, it will released to coincide with Bryan Singer's upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. Read on for artwork and details!

Glitchsoft, acclaimed developer and publisher of premium action mobile games, today announced a mobile game licensing agreement with the one of the world's most prominent character-based entertainment companies, Marvel Entertainment.

"Glitchsoft came to us with a pedigree of rock-solid game development, strong production values, and a passion for the Uncanny X-Men franchise that was impossible to ignore," said TQ Jefferson, VP of Games Production at Marvel. "It's these sorts of qualities that we look for in a partner, and we couldn't be more excited to bring our version of 'Days of Future Past' to mobile."

For the first time, Uncanny X-Men enthusiasts will be able to engage Marvel's 1981 landmark "Days of Future Past" comic book story arc in an immersive and story-driven game unlike anything available on mobile. Leveraging the Helios Game Engine, Glitchsoft's proprietary game development technology, "Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past" will be rendered in a unique side-scrolling 2D format. "Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past" is designed for mid-core gamers and will deliver a fast-paced, rewarding, and combat-focused experience.

"Marvel has created some of the most revered characters of all time," said Wes Tam, founder and VP creative of Glitchsoft. "We are excited to work with Marvel to bring the Uncanny X-Men characters to mobile gaming. Being lifelong fans, it is an incredible opportunity and even larger responsibility to create a game that honors the property. Our goal is to deliver a mobile game that core fans will truly embrace."

"Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past" will debut for Apple iPhone® 4 and above, iPad® 2 and above and iPod touch® 5th Gen as well as Samsung, HTC, LG, and other AndroidTM devices in May 2014. For more information visit

I dunno, the fact it's a side-scroller makes it sound like it could be a fun little time waster. The Avengers Mobile game was actually kinda fun (the movie one, not the Avengers Initiative one)

Im glad Marvel somehow will support Days of future past movie with this.

But they should show more support, with a new tv show. Its really dissapointing that Marvel hasnt done a new show after all these years. Wrong move, if they want to make the X-Men comic even bigger

@Holmes Not sure if you are joking/being sarcastic or not (I will admit I am not the best on picking up such things. especially through text! haha), but mobile games can do extremely well. Like millions and millions of dollars well. However, that doesn't mean they are good games... And especially NOT for everyone. But there is most definitely good money to be made... with luck... of course having a huge franchise name attached to your game increases your chances of making some money.

Marvel makes some entertaining and dedicated comic book movies. Even when they miss the mark they still try to utilize the roster of heroes and villains they have to bring in a larger audience via film...but when it comes to cartoons and video games...they seem to be letting the interns handle production.

In a perfect world Marvel would ALSO make great games and cartoons, and DC would finally get the balls to fully and seriously explore comic book films with more than just Superman and Batman.

Marvel Nemesis was horse shit.

They need to get the guys who did the Xmen Origins Wolverine game to do another one, but make it an open world environment akin for the Arkham games. I'd play that game for hours as Wolverine running around wherever I want doing crazy shit. The game mechanics in XO:W were very on point.

Why waste money with these mobile games when they could make real money by making console games
Pheezmatic - 2/28/2014, 3:10 PM
nooo...they need to do something like the new elder scrolls online...

I love the choice of first person or third person view.

How shit is that artwork compared to Byrne's original?
mamoonNorz - 3/1/2014, 4:56 AM
2D Side scrolling?!! lol They should make a 3D Action Adventure game with the best graphics engine available for mobile games development. That would be a mobile game that would be worth installing onto my smartphone and tablet.
I miss the MARVEL Ultimate Alliance video games especially the first part. They were great.

I would love to see an Arcade style Avengers [movie] game similar to that 80's X Men arcade game. They made that one Avengers arcade game in the 90's but it wasn't as good as the X Men game.
