Why Paul Dini Isn't Involved In The Next Rocksteady Batman Game

It was reported a couple months ago that Paul Dini won't write the next Batman game by Rocksteady Studios. Now we know why Dini will not be involved in the next Batman game. Click to find out why.

The first article I ever wrote on this site was that Paul Dini said that he isn’t going to be involved in Rocksteady’s next Batman game. Now in my 100th article, we learn why Paul Dini won’t be involved. After this news came out, people were worried about the next Batman game. Paul Dini wrote both Batman video games from Rocksteady in Batman: Arkham Asylum & and Batman: Arkham City. One can see that Paul Dini is a big influence in the games from in Arkham Asylum in Harley Quinn’s tapes have numerous references to Dini’s graphic novel Mad Love and in Arkham City because Hush made a mask of Bruce Wayne’s face which is a reference to another Dini book Heart of Hush and many more Dini references. Dini explained why he will not be involved in the next Batman game stating this:

”The last talk I had with Warner Interactive about future games was while I was doing promotion for Arkham City last September. Naturally as there was such a rush of interest about Arkham City, everyone was asking me about a third game, and frankly, I had been wondering about that myself. When I asked about the possibility of working on a third game I was told that as Rocksteady had just finished wrapping the second one, it would be a while before everyone was ready to sit down and discuss future plans. That said, it was intimated that for future games, Warner and Rocksteady might not be looking as much to freelance writers, the message being, that if I had something else interesting coming my way, I might want to take it.”

Dini also stated that he was not involved in the Arkham City DLC called Harley Quinn’s Revenge. Dini has taken on other work that makes him “unavailable to take on anything new until 2013." Dini isn’t mad or bitter even saying that "If we wind up working together again at some point, that would be cool, too.

Rumor has it that the next Batman game will be a prequel that shows Batman’s first meeting with the Joker and features the Justice League. The rumored prequel game also has stated to be inspirited by the Silver Age Batman. If you ask me, I think that they should make the prequel game without Dini and that he should come back for the sequel to Arkham City. What do you think? Comment below. Peace.

So they are making more Arkham-games?

I hope that mean he's writing the Batman reboot and Justice League scripts with Bruce Timm. But I guess he would be hesistant because of possible executive contraints(ineptitude).

Drop Dini for the prequel of the story he wrote, twice.

Mess with success, because it makes sense to them?

The Next Game will take place during the Golden age of Comics (All smiles and Colorful Costumes) and It is said he'll be accompanied by His friends (Superman, etc.).

@toco89, I think it's more about Dini working on Ultimate Spider-Man and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H in 2013 than working on any Justice League movie. That's probably why he can't take on anything new until sometime in 2013.

I also remember a story about him writing a Batman graphic novel.

I heard it was because they wanted a writer who could involve all the characters of the JL and that Dini may be too 'Bat focused' for the multi-hero prequel.

I doupt that considering he created and scripted both the Justice League and JL Unlimited shows.
