Looking forward to this

I can already see it.

A number of female comic book writers and artists will mention displeasure in how too many female superheros are portrayed as nothing but fap fuel for neckbeards, and said neckbeards will get up in arms going on about how these women don't know what they're talking about.

I may be first... Ok, with that out the way.. Here is how I would redo Wonder Woman if I were a movie or TV studio...

First, because it's wonder woman, the name itself is pretty much a household name. Therefore, any woman with exceptional physical prowess and wit could quickly earn the title of Wonder Woman. However, to make the storyline interesting, this particular wonder woman kepis earning that title every where she goes, and she's used to it.

Now for the twist, because the real Wonder Woman was born as clay, technically she could be ageless, even more so when you consider her strength and abilities. Therefore, it stands to reason that she could be as beautiful as a woman at her most beautiful age (whatever age that may be) but realistically be in her 50's or older (perhaps the age of how long the character would be since she first appeared in the comics until now) and still look incredibly young.

Ans so not only does she look young and beautiful but she has the wisdom that extended age brings. The fact that she keeps doing athletic things causes people around her to keep calling her Wonder Woman no realizing that she really is the real Wonder Woman.

Oh, and she has a pet peeve. She's highly competitive and she hates for someone else to be called Wonder Woman, especially when the get credit for wrong doing as can be common in modern society. So from time to time she sets out to show who the real wonder Woman is and why.

This is of course about her secret identity and how she exists in the modern world. She knows who she is but she never gives it away. The villain's often get looked up to for the wrong reasons so her mission becomes to teach them and the rest of the world a lesson about that type of thing.

The interesting part would be when she runs into the Batman problem, which is, the more she shows what she can do the anti gets raised and the villains get better, stronger and more brazen.

Ok, that's my idea, now somebody go make that Wonder Woman show. It would work, trust me, look at my avatar.

Ok, i wasn't first, so what, the theory is still sound.

even today, women are just sexualize, and it seems like their purpose is just to satisfy men pleasures, I guess that's why they call it a "man's world"...
I really love a strong women on tv, magazines, movies, etc
not that many tho....

Can't wait to see this. I mean, at the core of every comic book story, this is what it's about: empowerment. It's a shame that, in a media that is predominantly male, there is this exploitation and a lack of equality and it's very discouraging to the female audience.

It's nice to know that women can be appreciated in this light, even though they rarely are.

I like female super heroes, actually some of my favorite characters are girls like Spidergirl, X-23, Catwoman, huntress or Barbara Gordon. Sex is a weapon in the hands of a smart woman. Been a sexual person is part of been an independent person... actually oppressive regimes usually suppress sex to gain control of the population. But as any power, it should be used wisely. Why women are in the sidelines? Simple, because women choose to be there. You want to be a super heroine... stand up and do something. Simple... you want to be a comic artist, do it... and learn to respect yourself and eventually you will earn respect. For me it's not about men and women, its about people and their capacity to achieve their goals.

I don't know if women chose to be in the sidelines, what I know is that they were pushed there, for lack of physical strenght, not because they are dumb, of don't want to be recognize; an example: this woman stands for herself, she speaks her mind, she does a lot of things that men do, she won't take a no for an answer and yet she gets critized for all the wrong reasons and she gets a very bad rap, almost for anything....
is not women, is men....

Ok guys let's allow the girls here to have their fun and be all "equal", then they can get back to their normal duties of serving men.
GoodNuph - 2/22/2012, 5:14 AM
Hmmmm, Wonder Woman. If you want to see real Wonder Women look at your EMT/Medics.
They care for the sick and injured alongside men. Women and men of all ethnic backgrounds and gender preferences thinking nothing more than helping and saving lives.
No inequality there, they're just overlooked.
CrowPirate1 - 2/22/2012, 5:41 AM
Sue Storm from the Fantastic Four and Wonder Woman definitely can not be considered weak.

I loved the new animated Wonder Woman movie.. she kicks ass and kills... and I loved that.

Female comic heroes sell today for the same reasons they did back when. Large boobs, sexy costumes, beautiful faces. These comics aren't being bought by a bunch of 60's radical feminists who don't shave their legs. And until that group plays a major role in buying comics they will continue to make comic chicks hot and sexy, just the way we like them. Sorry ladies, it's just a fact. We like sexy more than we want to see how far you've come.
Mugwamp - 2/22/2012, 6:33 AM
@Popcorndude, Hey brother Madonna is criticized because she's an idiot, not because she's a woman.
Fastestmanalive - 2/22/2012, 7:35 AM
You could say the same thing in any field really, as far as I know women of all types work alongside men in most fields.

But as an EMT myself I can back u up, it is true, we do treat women equally.....................especially the hot ones.

There you go!! There is clear intrest in this character but rather then getting a big movie , we get a stupid show which adds nothing new to the extras on the Wonder Woman dvds already out there. The public is stuck with that image of Lynda Carter as there is nothing more to the character then that and we also live in a world that thinks outside of Batman, Dc has nothing... please WB make a big budget WW movie already!!! Geezz!!!
mgeoff88 - 2/22/2012, 2:21 PM
I would like to check this out. I hope they release it on Zune or something.

It's a shame that women don't get the credit they deserve. They're often overlooked and a lot of men don't seem to realize that is much harder to be a woman than it is to be a man.

When it comes to comic book media, I'm a guy and I definitely think we need more solo female superhero movies. There are so many great female characters in DC and Marvel that deserve to be adapted to the big screen.

Those didn't cut the mustard. I don't want the reboot treatment before these other characters get a chance:

-Wonder Woman
-Ms. Marvel
-Black Canary
-Black Widow

I think there's a good chance we will get WW a movie someday, but when, is a completely different question.
BlindLemonShemp - 2/22/2012, 4:43 PM
wow.. a lotta feminist bandwagon jockeys in here.. have you ever thought that women WANT to serve men and be seen as 'special' citizens? go to any bar/nightclub/college campus and you will see thousands of women taking all the wind out of your feminist arguments...

ps. i respect that which respects itself

its absolutely amazing to me, how so many people still don't understand why they haven't been able to properly adapt diana to television or film, it's because they don't understand the society she comes from, the amazons. they are supposed to be like female Spartans. if you look at every great wonder woman story, the writer clearly draws juxtaposing imagery of the violent nature of the amazons to modern human society, but at the same time showing that ironically, man's world is somehow more savage than a race of hawkish warriors. wonder woman is a microcosm of this society and viewing man's world with our rules, our crime, our laws and our wars through the prism of an amazon is supposed to be this sort of self deconstruction of morality, society, justice, right and wrong etc. and that's it. nobody does this. everyone thinks that they understand wonder woman, how hard can it be? its just a strong woman. they want to see a strong woman, you see. i get it. no, you dont get it. none of these hollywood writers get it, and until they do we will never see a proper wonder woman adaptation, the one she deserves
