Bryan Singer Responds To Abuse Claims And Bows Out of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Events

The X-Men: Days of Future Past director has broken his silence about the "completely false" sexual abuse allegations, with a statement that confirms he won't take part in the film's press tour. Check it out

For those unaware, last week, a lawsuit was filed against Bryan Singer with claims that the X-Men director "forcibly sodomized" an underage Michael Egan nearly 15 years ago. Now for the first time, Singer has addressed Egan's allegations and confirmed that he will be removing himself from pubicity for the upcoming sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past.  "The allegations against me are outrageous, vicious and completely false," says Bryan Singer (via Variety). "I do not want these fictitious claims to divert ANY attention from X-Men: Days of Future Past. This fantastic film is a labor of love and one of the greatest experiences of my career. So, out of respect to all of the extraordinary contributions from the incredibly talented actors and crew involved, I've decided not to participate in the upcoming media events for the film. However, I promise when this situation is over, the facts will show this to be the sick twisted shake down it is. I want to thank fans, friends and family for all their amazing and overwhelming support."

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The beloved characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class, in an epic battle that must change the past to save our future. X-Men: Days of Future Past has wrapped filming, and stars Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Patrick Stewart, Michael Fassbender,, Ian McKellen, Nicholas Hoult, Omar Sy, Peter Dinklage, Halle Berry, Adan Canto, Fan Bingbing, Anna Paquin, Evan Peters, Daniel Cudmore, Ellen Page & Booboo Stewart. Bryan Singer directs the film in theaters May 23, 2014

Yeah well, my wallet WONT!

SauronsBANE - 4/24/2014, 12:36 PM
I'm sure Fox...requested...that Singer stay out of the media events for DoFP, just because they'd rather not be associated with this if it ends up being true.

What troubles me is that it seems like no one in Hollywood is particularly surprised by any of this. Obviously surprise is no indictment, but it does say a lot.

And the timing of the lawsuit was obviously on purpose, to do as much damage to DoFP as possible...but that could go both ways. It's either false charges and the accusers just want money, or the accusations are true and the accuser wants to make it hurt as much as possible. Who wouldn't want to get the maximum amount of revenge if it's true?

We just don't know enough yet to say either way, and honestly we probably never will.

Freak him and all the producers of the xmen series. They didn't respect the source material or their own continuity. I won't be supporting this movie.

MrBatmor - 4/24/2014, 12:40 PM
' labour of love' ..., its feels weird coming from singer...

@sauronbane it is Preety widely known that singer throws these parties in which drugs etc ate used in large quantities... Thats the reason no one in Hollywood is defending him..
MrBatmor - 4/24/2014, 12:41 PM
@batmaniac why so? (iam just asking)...
YoungThanos - 4/24/2014, 12:42 PM
Fox has been "shaking down" Marvel with that bs contract for 14 years so if nothing else this is certainly Karma!
SauronsBANE - 4/24/2014, 12:43 PM
Very true, Batmor. I'm sure that factors into why no one seems all that surprised and why no one's leaping to his defense either. It definitely makes him look bad, at the very least.
ALegendaryPanda - 4/24/2014, 12:43 PM
MrFridayNight is not an immature, piece of shit douchebag. (sarcasm)
MrBatmor - 4/24/2014, 12:43 PM

Batmor has a point. No one in Hollywood is defending Singer. That has to tell you something.
Batman52 - 4/24/2014, 12:46 PM
Bryan Singer sounding like Lance Armstrong just by looking at that quote.
Klone - 4/24/2014, 12:46 PM
My God... BatManiac is IN on the Singer and Saville CONSPIRACEH!!!
ALegendaryPanda - 4/24/2014, 12:47 PM
I really hope he's innocent and I'm still rooting for DOFP to succeed!
Vegeta - 4/24/2014, 12:50 PM

I think it would be a lot better if the alleged act is a lie, instead of true, don't you?
Starfox - 4/24/2014, 12:50 PM
In the famous words of @Pasto: "Trolls this is your time to shine!"
MrBatmor - 4/24/2014, 12:50 PM

YoungThanos - 4/24/2014, 12:53 PM
If only more X-men characters would step up like this brave man did and bring Singers crimes to light....

And they call themselves "Superhero's" Pssh!
WombRaider - 4/24/2014, 12:54 PM
i love when stories like this come out so i can see all the homophobic [foo foo]s on this website
MrBatmor - 4/24/2014, 12:55 PM
@ciph you are already down two truck loads of bottles need about 10 more...:P
Klone - 4/24/2014, 12:57 PM
cipher is Singer's evil twin brother that detests sexual related crimes. Why does that make him the evil twin brother you ask? BECAUSE [frick] YOU THAT'S WHY!!
TheRationalNerd - 4/24/2014, 1:00 PM

Hmmm, that's not a bad start. Honestly everyone thought I was on drugs when I said DoFP could possibly gross 1billion. lol But I think it'll do good around 800million. That's just my guess though...I know the trolls are ready to tear me to shreds.
Gusto - 4/24/2014, 1:01 PM
Can't rape the willing!

cipher - 4/24/2014, 1:01 PM
Good suggestion, Batmor. I'll down another truck's worth so I can feel like I was hit by one tomorrow.
BoomTubeB - 4/24/2014, 1:02 PM
why wait till now to press charges? in an Alex Jones voice " marvel wants the rights back from fox so wolverine can be in the avengers ! the illuminati owns Disney! Disney owns marvel! Blackhawk helecopters..." lmfao
cipher - 4/24/2014, 1:02 PM
MAK- Hahahahahaha, crazy bastard.
Klone - 4/24/2014, 1:04 PM
cipher = Ci
Singer = Si

SEE THE PATTERN!? Both are ways of writing a single world in Italian/Spanish! Ci or Si? That is why these two have an eternal, neverending battle, to determine whether Ci or Si triumphs.

Totally logical.
