Bryan Singer Tweets (Possible) Opening Quote From X-MEN: DOFP

Singer's previous X-Men movies have opened with a voicover from Professor Xavier, explaining the finer details of evolution. But Singer's next X-flick may be opening with a quote from Charles Darwin's Origin Of The Species - it definitely adorns the cover of the screenplay anyway!..

Singer Tweeted the following image from a long distance flight, as he settled down to get stuck into the script for X-Men: Days Of Future Past..

Now some sites are reporting thsi as the "first official image from X-Men: DOFP!", but we wouldn't be so mean! There is a strong possibility that the Darwin quote will feature at the beginning of the movie in some form. In case that's too small for you to make out, the quote reads..

"As new species are formed through natural evolution, others will become rarer and rarer, and finally extinct. The forms which stand in closest competition with those undergoing modification and improvement will naturally suffer most."

Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart (?), Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hault will all be returning for X-Men: Days Of Future Past, due in theaters on July 18, 2014.

That could mean so many things as far the story, but it does wet the appetite. Fassbender and Stewart in the same film will make for a good time.

Josh Brolin for Cable. Unless they decide to recast Wolverine.
SomTingWong - 12/5/2012, 7:28 AM
this could work. there not gonna recast wolverine. i hope the sentinels look cool
MyInnerDork - 12/5/2012, 7:38 AM
After Stewart and McKellen both said they did not know they were gonna be in this movie, does anyone believe anything Singer tweets out anymore? I sure don't.
Maximillion - 12/5/2012, 7:40 AM
It is time for the Sentinels to appear, we have the technology to do it and don't say "we want it to be more grounded!!" barf!!
GoILL - 12/5/2012, 7:41 AM

I was thinking the same thing.
Newbus - 12/5/2012, 7:43 AM
Look at the faded text...
MisterBabadook - 12/5/2012, 7:47 AM
Interesting quote considering I've been reading Origin of Species a lot lately.
sharkman03191 - 12/5/2012, 7:48 AM
WHy all the hate for Singer? Did he not give us two great X-Men films? If I recall, X2 is still considered one of the greats in the anals of comic book movie history.
FirstAvenger - 12/5/2012, 7:52 AM
I don't trust his tweets anymore.
BruceWayneNewton - 12/5/2012, 7:55 AM
Can anybody enhance that picture and see what it says on the next page?
Kayo - 12/5/2012, 8:05 AM
bring on Mr. Sinister
Mackywatt - 12/5/2012, 8:11 AM
I'm not worried. With Mark Millar guiding the overall process and with Singer behind the wheel this could shape up to be something special.

DanteSparda - 12/5/2012, 8:13 AM
It's kind of cool, it's a quote that fits perfectly with the X-Men universe.

Still I'm eager to see the first rendered image of a sentinel.
kevberg - 12/5/2012, 8:23 AM
WOW..the guy that actually directed two fan acclaimed X-men movies is suddenly vilified because he made 1 crappy superman movie....

Ian McKellan works with Singer a lot ( just narrated the Jack the Giant Slayer movie) Im sure its just a matter of signing the contracts.

Jeez get a damn sense of history.

I trust Singer with X-men more than most ( even though I abhor Louise Mingenbachs involvement with the costumes)

Theunderdog - 12/5/2012, 8:28 AM
I think singer were better than vaugh one
QuanZen - 12/5/2012, 8:29 AM
The best marketing for this film is to pretend Bryan Singer has nothing to do with one wants to hear or see anything from him.
Fogs - 12/5/2012, 8:39 AM
The resolution isn't helping... tried to enhance it to see the 2nd page without success... :(
gambgel - 12/5/2012, 8:44 AM
wish I could read the very first page :D

who will be there?

Kitty? Rogue?.... Storm?

we need more casting news soon!
lntrn8 - 12/5/2012, 8:46 AM
Singer . . . you give me such boners when you try to justify your crappy writing & direction with pop-science.

OMG do you have to spell it all out so explicitly?

Joe6Pack74 - 12/5/2012, 8:47 AM
Really he is going to quote that fraud Darwin?
SamHell - 12/5/2012, 8:52 AM
Damn, I wish Vaughn wouldve stayed the course
Daniellantern - 12/5/2012, 8:59 AM

Tony93 - 12/5/2012, 9:11 AM
Evolution is wrong by the way. It's not a gaining of DNA, it's a loss of genes/DNA
yourdaddy - 12/5/2012, 9:11 AM
singer's x-men films were 'ok'.
his superman film sucked.
his jack and the beanstalk adaptation looks terrible.

i like all the xmen films .. to a certain degree. i hated singer for not using gambit and making colossus American.

DanteSparda - 12/5/2012, 9:53 AM
Woow, there is really a lot of hate towards Singer, even when he delivered a good X-Men movie and then a great one, I know there are a lot of mistakes in his movies, but most of them aren't his fault, remember that when he made X-Men (1) those were other times, when the super hero movie genre was dead, so the producers forced him to put the "most popular" mutants in the roster and no the original five, to make Wolverine the main character, to make the X-Men use leather suits, etc. etc.
blvdnoise - 12/5/2012, 10:05 AM
They know what works now, and more importantly what we hated then. When DOFP turns out to be the best one yet, I'll be sitting back with my brows raised and arms crossed. This thing has tons of potential folks!
gambgel - 12/5/2012, 10:14 AM
it really has.

And they wont be as stupid to not give the fans what they want this time.

Sentinels, uniforms similar to the comics, and bigger and better action sequences, and Team action.

And be sure guys that they will give us all of this time time. FC was the very first step in the right direction, comic costumes and team action. This sequel will be on a whole different level
GodzillaKart - 12/5/2012, 10:17 AM
I actually had an adult student come into my class who was complaining because wanted to be a biology major but all of his biology professors "are Darwinists". WTF did he expect. And what exactly does he think biology entails?

Time to ask whatever wizard he believes in for a brain.
mattattack - 12/5/2012, 10:27 AM
The fact that Vaughn is still serving as a producer with Miller overseeing the process, makes me hopeful. X1 was shit X2 was pretty good X3 was the biggest piece of shit ever and X:FC was amazing from start to finish. I can only hope that Singer does his best on this one and really makes an amazing film. It needs to be at least 3 hours long to fully flesh out everything and we need to make sure that Sentinels are treated like actual threats, ripping the roof off houses and taking mutants captive.

I want this to be the darkest X film yet!
mattattack - 12/5/2012, 10:33 AM
Also what's the deal with Banshee? Is he returning?? I don't care about Havoc, Angel, Azazel, Riptide, or Emma Frost.

I just want Banshee back!
Gosh - 12/5/2012, 10:34 AM

Currently rewatching X3 and I started formulating DOFP.

I think it is going to go back into the past and pick up after Charles and Mags first met Jean Grey. The professor mentions in X3 how difficult it was to enclose the Phoenix. I believe DOFP might expand in that story line and keep everything within the same universe. The First Class cast will pick up years down the road from the last movie. Still formulating all of this but it definitely makes sense and follows the logic of recent cast announcements...
luckylu - 12/5/2012, 10:34 AM
i hate singer for everything he did to the x men and superman.
toco89 - 12/5/2012, 11:13 AM

I could dig that, Mr.Sinister. Ian Mcshane or maybe Tim Curry.
DukeAcureds - 12/5/2012, 11:55 AM
I knew that Singer would not do X-Men 3, when I heard the quote from the beginning of X-Men reiterated by Jean Grey at the end of X2, so it would make sense, now that Singer is back, to maintain artistic continuity by having the quote that Xavier said at the beginning of X2 to be reiterated at the end of DOFP and that would leave the above opening quote of DOFP to be reprised at the end of Singer's fourth X-movie, if he ever does one.
