Channing Tatum Briefly Talks About GAMBIT

In the next issue of GQ Magazine, G.I. JOE: Retaliation actor and future Gambit Channing Tatum (very) briefly talks to GQ about why he loves the character. Find out what he has to say after the jump.

After recently being announced as the next Gambit in X-Men: Apocalypse and a solo film to follow, GQ Magazine asked Tatum why he loved the character he soon will portray.

“[Gambit was] the only superhero I really followed.… He was the most real to me: smoking, drinking, women-loving, thief. He just looked cool to me. I've always loved him. And obviously he’s Cajun.”

X-Men: Days of Future Past comes to theaters May 23. X-Men: Apocalypse, which will introduce Tatum’s Gambit to the X-Men films, is scheduled for release on May 23, 2016.

DrDoom - 5/20/2014, 1:21 PM
The only superhero he followed . . . . I guess he didn't realize that most of the time, Gambit is amongst other members of the X-Men . . . .

Klone - 5/20/2014, 1:21 PM

MrBlackJack - 5/20/2014, 1:22 PM

DEVLIN712 - 5/20/2014, 1:22 PM
I'm not gonna criticize the choice until I see some footage down the line, I'm just glad that we're finally gonna get Gambit (my second favorite mutant) again on the big screen
Chcl - 5/20/2014, 1:22 PM
I hate him
Itsbeenfun - 5/20/2014, 1:23 PM
I agree with Dr. Doom. I think his answer is Bullshit.
cipher - 5/20/2014, 1:24 PM
As long as we can derail it somehow, it's worthy, BJ.

Channing Tatum is sooo fine. I love seeing him talk. I might have to watch some shitty fox x-movie just to see him in it.
DEVLIN712 - 5/20/2014, 1:28 PM
You know BJ, we could even mention the forum... that place needs more users

MrBlackJack - 5/20/2014, 1:43 PM
We've tried promoting the forum all we can Dev, but it's no use. It's a goner.
MrBlackJack - 5/20/2014, 1:43 PM
You guys...
cipher - 5/20/2014, 1:46 PM
They should have called me for Gambit. I can probably do that role in my sleep once I figure out the accent.
Nomis - 5/20/2014, 1:47 PM

what are the powers of Gambit ? (honest question)
Jaspion - 5/20/2014, 1:52 PM
Well, that I can actually understand because Gambit was always my favorite X-Man, and I would often buy only comics which he was featured.
CameronGray - 5/20/2014, 1:52 PM
What's the forum?! :O
MarvelWeiner - 5/20/2014, 1:52 PM

SugarYumYum - 5/20/2014, 2:01 PM
@DrDoom: Exactly what I was thinking.
WeddingTux - 5/20/2014, 2:09 PM
"and a solo film" according to ...whom? a few overzealous fans?
WeddingTux - 5/20/2014, 2:15 PM
there are no Gambit or Deadpool solo films being planned, each will appear in Apocalypse and X-Force respectively. see where it goes from there.
SuperCat - 5/20/2014, 2:20 PM
He ruined Duke in G.I. Joe so I guess it's only fair he ruins Gambit too.
MrBlackJack - 5/20/2014, 2:20 PM
Via THR "Multiple sources say that Tatum will get a stand-alone spinoff, with his version of Gambit being introduced in X-Men: Apocalypse.". That doesn't mean that a stand alone film will actually happen, but it is planned and in development.
MercwithMouth - 5/20/2014, 2:22 PM
I hate Tatum... I really hope he doesn't ruin my favorite XMan... I wish Kitsch would've come back. He could've been great with the right script. Or Trent Ford, he'd be perfect.
MrFridayNights - 5/20/2014, 2:23 PM
Well it seems that he readed X-Men comic books.
TheBuoyWonder - 5/20/2014, 2:38 PM
Pasto made another forum?
What happened to the first?
sameoldthing - 5/20/2014, 2:39 PM
Terrible actor..a pile of wood has more talent.
Gambit had several mini-series and story arcs in X-Men so one could have "followed" his character.

I know I did so it's possible but I don't believe Tatum real did. I bet producers gave him old issues to see.
He most likely spent his free time growing up hip hop dancing & putting his index finger up his ass.
