First Look At Hugh Jackman On The Japanese Set Of THE WOLVERINE

Photographers were finally able to snap a few pictures of Hugh Jackman on the Tokyo set of James Mangold's The Wolverine. Hit the jump to find out what type of scene the actor was filming at the Zojoji Temple.

According to reports that I have translated, the scene being filmed at the Buddhist temple, was a funeral. A grand funeral no less. Today was the last day of filming at the temple, and the crew is expected to head to Hiroshima next.

The Wolverine will be directed by James Mangold (Knight and Day), from a script written by Christopher McQuarrie.. The cast includes: Hugh Jackamn (Logan/Wolverine), Svetlana Khodchenkova (Viper), Hiroyuki Sanada (Shingen), Hal Yamanouchi (Yashida), Tao Okamoto (Mariko), Rila Fukushima (Yukio), Brian Tee (Norubo Mori), and Will Yun Lee (Kenuichio Harada/Silver Samurai). The film will claw into theaters July 26, 2013.

JDUKE25 - 9/2/2012, 12:22 PM
Not too bad. Hope we get some pics of him in costume in the next few weeks.
kackbratze - 9/2/2012, 12:23 PM
Wolverine reboot please! With a new actor.
TheGambitFreak - 9/2/2012, 12:23 PM
Pretty cool! Let's hope for some sort of costume!
TheGambitFreak - 9/2/2012, 12:24 PM
And please stick somewhat to the comics!
Nubase - 9/2/2012, 12:27 PM
i hope its the wolverine we have been waiting for!
WallyWestNAM - 9/2/2012, 12:28 PM
I want to see a costume, idk if theres no mask, just put some [frick]ing tiger stripes on the side of a tan shirt, idgaf lol. If theres some sort of samurai showdown like I'm quite sure there will be, I would be in aw if his armor was modeled after his brown and tan costume.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 9/2/2012, 12:32 PM
Not bad. I want some official photos though.
JordanKing - 9/2/2012, 12:34 PM
I'd like to see a costume, the brown/yellow colour scheme would be the best route to go.
billytwohats - 9/2/2012, 12:36 PM
I don't think they'll put him in a costume since no one else in the previous movies where wearing costumes.
Bodwulf - 9/2/2012, 12:37 PM
Great post Nailbiter!
LoneShadow99 - 9/2/2012, 12:41 PM
@Kackbratze Are you INSANE?! It'll suck with no Hugh Jackman!
thetrojan - 9/2/2012, 12:41 PM
thats probably an after the funeral scene.......

In my minds eye I just saw ninjas going through a ceremonial dress-up interspersed with logan doing the same and when he reached into his bag he pulls out the original mask and it was worn and torn and when he put it on it looked wild!

It doesnt last long in the fight though, falls to the ground in a slo mo fashion to kick off an intensification of the fight scenes.....just sayin.
Danbojohnj - 9/2/2012, 12:46 PM
Wolvie should be shorter than that Japanese actor.
Hugh has done a great job but I would like to see this being passed on to another (shorter) actor, some stocky gruff 5'' angry looking bloke.

Reboot Indy and give that Jackman.
pointman - 9/2/2012, 12:48 PM
This is the best I have seen his hair yet, but I still chuckle when I see jackman tower over everyone. Wolverine is 5'3. Not a 6'2 1/2 showtunes singing niceguy. He towers over cap and ironman. It goes against everything the character is.
soberchimera - 9/2/2012, 12:53 PM
This could go either way, its the director from 3:10 to Yuma, but also the director for Knight and Day. Plus the writer from The Usual Suspects and the writer for The Tourist.
IIIAdamantiumIII - 9/2/2012, 12:54 PM
GIVE HIM THE COWL!!!!!!!!!!!!
jazzman - 9/2/2012, 12:54 PM
this movie better be good cause the last one was so f**king bad im still trying to forget it

get over the f**king high issue for crying out loud. not ever damn actor is the same high as the comic book character counterpart jeez
pitbull76 - 9/2/2012, 1:00 PM
@TheGambitFreak Do you think they will use the full mask just like the comic's?
TheBlackPhantom994 - 9/2/2012, 1:01 PM
If he wears the costume, the MUA2 suit style is the way to go.
jimoakley666 - 9/2/2012, 1:16 PM
The new shorter haircut is really really cool. Can't wait to see this movie.

Sod any rebooting boo-hoos. I'd watch Jackman as Wolverine for years to come. Dude was born to play the role.
TheGambitFreak - 9/2/2012, 1:18 PM
I would want a full mask, yes, but If it was just the suit and no cowl, i'd understand. But where is a Samurai without his headgear?

LoudLon - 9/2/2012, 1:23 PM
I'm not trying to hate, here, but I just can't make myself get excited for this movie. We've seen this character so many times already (in four movies, plus a cameo), and he doesn't change at all from one to the next. Jackman's a good actor, but it's just the same old song now.

Personally, I think he should abandon the character and offer himself up for the future Batman reboot. I think he'd make a much better Wayne/Bats than he does Wolverine. At least he'd have a wider range of character notes to play.
95 - 9/2/2012, 1:35 PM
The hair looks a lot better here.
BubblesShedAndBreakfast - 9/2/2012, 1:35 PM
The hair looks much better then the last outing. I just wish they would make him look shorter.
Oxbow - 9/2/2012, 1:41 PM
agree with Loudlon. Jackman's a good actor who was miscast from the beginning. I've gotten over having a tall, dark and handsome Logan on screen. but the fact remains that he is a far cry from the mad berzerker that comic book fans know
Jollem - 9/2/2012, 1:49 PM
use camera trickery to make wolverine look short, please

wolverine is a pissed-off short guy :)
Dusk - 9/2/2012, 1:54 PM
@Jollem- AGREEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!!

Wait I need my time in the spotlight too!!! But whoo really looks cool.

PsyNinjaHippie - 9/2/2012, 2:37 PM
Costume PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
LoudNoises - 9/2/2012, 2:46 PM
I'm not a huge fan of his shorter hair style from what I've seen so far. I think they got his hair right in the first x-men movie. I'm sure it will look better on film tho. It would be amazing to see him finally dawn the mask in this movie. It's a nerdgasm moment that is long over due, lol.
Salemdog - 9/2/2012, 2:48 PM
Ditch Jackman. Here's the next Wolverine. Nuff said

UltimaRex - 9/2/2012, 2:50 PM
Lose the hair.
Salemdog - 9/2/2012, 2:53 PM

I'm sure he would for the role. Least he can fight
AutobotCommander84 - 9/2/2012, 2:59 PM
What have comic book fans come to? I could understand not liking an actor in a role for doing a bad job, but now people want exact height and measurements too? What's next?
