Hugh Jackman Teases X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Conflict With Michael Fassbender's Magneto

Hugh Jackman briefly discusses X-Men: Days of Future Past, acknowledging that the public may think it's a reaction to Marvel's The Avengers. Jackman also teases a 70's conflict with Michael Fassbender's Magneto.

Days of Future Past X-Men Hugh Jackman

At TIFF to promote his new film Prisoners actor Hugh Jackman also discussed the upcoming, Bryan Singer directed X-Men:Days of Future Past. The film combines the younger cast from X-Men: First Class and the original X-Men team, which some may see as a blatant attempt to ripoff the group dynamic of Marvel's The Avengers. Jackman addressed that public perception, "I think some people are saying, “Ah, this just sounds like an excuse to get all these actors together and make an Avengers-style movie,” but the truth is that it’s a great script and Bryan is very ambitious to make the best movie of them all. He’s got the biggest cast, the biggest budget, and he started it all, so it’s his legacy. He’s a fan of time-travel movies, and the detail that’s gone into it is incredible. I’m quietly confident that it will be the biggest and the best of them all. When I sat there on that panel at Comic-Con, and looked down at all the actors, you think, “This might be one of the best ensembles ever assembled”… Apart from Movie 43. [Laughs]"

And while Jackman's Wolverine definitely isn't a fan of Ian McKellen's Magneto, how will he react with the younger Magneto, played by Michael Fassbender? "It’s fair to say we don’t get on that well," said Jackman. He continued, " I get sent back to the past and he has no idea who I am, but you can imagine Wolverine has a bit of fun with that."

California - 9/16/2013, 7:50 AM
It'll be good. I'm looming forward to any CBM. Complain if you want, but this year, with the exception of CBM's, the movies have been horrible for the most part. I couldn't have seen a movie for the last few weeks be ause there's nothing good out there.
GodzillaKart - 9/16/2013, 7:51 AM
Hope they pull this one off.
BrowniesExplode - 9/16/2013, 7:56 AM
Will charles tell him they tried to recruit him?
LEVITIKUZ - 9/16/2013, 7:58 AM
Not hating on Avengers but if this is as good as it looks, this could be better than Avengers.

Until AOU comes out and its better than DOFP.

;D

@ Gusto

Do not forget JLABatman with Stan Lee.

Mrsinister - 9/16/2013, 8:02 AM
Keep singer away from xmen films already!!! Also the existing producers of these films suck!!! Reboot and hire a whole new team!
symbiotics - 9/16/2013, 8:10 AM
he has no idea who he is? ok so they're totally forgetting that cameo when they try to recruit him, either that or Magneto really has bad memory
TheWolverine08 - 9/16/2013, 8:13 AM
Looks like 2014 will be an awesome year for CBMs.

In before people bitch about A) Him being the traveller or B) Him not being in the yellow costume.
BrowniesExplode - 9/16/2013, 8:25 AM
@Symbiotics thanks. One thing that's still on my mind is what happen with yukio and wolverine, what were they doing.
mctrinket - 9/16/2013, 8:27 AM
Ocelot - 9/16/2013, 8:28 AM
@symbiotics

Days of Future Past takes place ten years after Magneto and Xavier approached him, he didn't join the team so I dont see why he would even remember him.
MexicanSexyman - 9/16/2013, 8:30 AM
X-MEN Days of Futures Past will own 2014. Frick you haters.

@Mrsinister, what if X-MEN Days of Futures Past blows every other cbm out of the water?
dkhager - 9/16/2013, 8:38 AM
cant wait for this movie..glad they moved it up too..i think i got that right..anyway cant wait..its gonna be awesome
maninfinesuit - 9/16/2013, 8:38 AM
Looking forward to the next non-Singer directed film after DOFP.
MsDarkPhoenix - 9/16/2013, 8:39 AM
I really want to trust Bryan Singer but I just can't after Superman Returns and Jack the Giant Slayer. The first two X-Men were great and First Class was awesome, I just hope DOFP will be good and won't turn into a Wolverine movie. I don't like the fact that they casted Quicksilver, it's so obvious that they just wanted to piss off Marvel.
maninfinesuit - 9/16/2013, 8:39 AM
Oh and, if people have indeed been saying it, the notion that X-Men is trying to ripoff Avengers is flat out stupid. X-Men has always been a team. It's even right there in the name. 'Men.' [frick]'s sake.
Dunejedi - 9/16/2013, 8:44 AM
@Levi Let me go ahead and kill the suspense for you: This won't be better than Avengers. We'll be lucky if it's better than First Class.
MexicanSexyman - 9/16/2013, 8:47 AM
@mctrinket, haha wtf.
MexicanSexyman - 9/16/2013, 8:56 AM
@Dunejedi1, The Avengers was nothing more than a fun, but very generic film. The film can easily be toped by another film with deep meanings and themes, which I believe XMDOFP will have.
TheWolverine08 - 9/16/2013, 8:57 AM
I don't know why this has become a thread to bash Avengers.
heisei24 - 9/16/2013, 9:10 AM
"He’s a fan of time-travel movies"

Sounds like he'll screw this up
Ocelot - 9/16/2013, 9:13 AM
First Class was better than The Avengers, still haven't seen a top CBM since it.
Ronnie11 - 9/16/2013, 9:18 AM
“This might be one of the best ensembles ever assembled”… Apart from Movie 43.
My god..hope it doesn't end up like Movie 43
WeaponX93 - 9/16/2013, 9:19 AM
I had my doubts about this film (and still kinda do) but they've change my mind. This has potential to be a huge success or giant clusterf***

@TheWolverine08
This will be the best CBM ever (aside from The Wolverine lol)
JoJo1982 - 9/16/2013, 9:19 AM
As far as story telling I think first class was a little bit better than avengers.... Avengers was plan and simple Loki leads an alien invasion.

The one thing x-men was missing that Avengers had, was the fun factor!!!!
If Bryan singer can get the fun factor down and let the movie being more enjoyable(mutant action scene that go all out and not restricted due to its budget) then this could be the biggest movie of 2014. Personally I want GotG to be the biggest but we'll see.
Singer just better not screw up the story
SimpleeComplex - 9/16/2013, 9:20 AM
I guess Fass don't remember being cursed out by Hughverine in the bar in FC?
TheWolverine08 - 9/16/2013, 9:21 AM
@WeaponX93 I am hyped for this! Like you said, this can become a giant mess if done wrongly, but I think Singer will get it right. For all the sh%t fanboys give him, he has given one good X film (X1), and the one of the best CBMs of all time (X2).
jimoakley666 - 9/16/2013, 9:24 AM
"...which some may see as a blatant attempt to ripoff the group dynamic of Marvel's The Avengers"

People high on crack may think that, maybe.
TheWolverine08 - 9/16/2013, 9:28 AM
Something I don't get is that Christopher Nolan largely changes the source material to the point where the Batman in his films isn't even Batman, and he gets praised as a CBM genius. Singer changes source material, and he gets fanboy rage.
Dinotron - 9/16/2013, 9:34 AM
lol at the bashing of the Avengers

I like Xmen and wish the best for it but the hate on the Avengers film is plain dumb when it pretty much has set up this whole multi- movie verse and has gotten every one jump on the same boat.

The Avengers IS the most financially successful comic book movie and the majority loved it.

Dont talk as if X-Men is all big and bad with it had its screw ups just like any (continuity, leather suits, Cyclops, Phoenix, etc.)

And just because it will have the largest ensemble ever doesnt mean it wil lbe gold the more does not equal the merrier in this case. This wont be the same as the Avengers because Singer doesnt know how to write character interactions well which the Avengers did to near perfection. All these characters on the screen wont have much screen time and i bet many will just be 5 - 10 min cameos.
