I can understand her not being in it as it seems to be an origin story with the guild war and all. But if they don't have her in a sequel or a hook up in following x-men movies now that everything has been reset, then that's just pissweak.
I would love it if they follow the comic with Gambit being revealed as a clone of Sinister with his powers created from a tweak of Cyclops' genetic material. But who am I kidding? It's Fox. I'll get my hopes up and they'll just make a generic shitfest like Origins with his sudden ability to make cards magically fly in a circle like frickin Matilda.

Rant concluded.

Gambit is one of my favorite of the x-men. But for some reason writers don't like him and has written horrible stories for him. His involvement in the morlock massacre it was classic. And I think that's where they should go with the sequel.

LOL... and the world goes on.
Anna Paquins career steadily declines. She's not a bad actress she just doesn't really bring anything special to a movie. I liked her in Xmen 1, but she never really evolved as Rogue in the other Xmen movies. Would've been cool to see a super strong flying Rogue, but we all know Singer/Fox wouldn't allow that.

Good, she shouldn't of been cast as Rogue in the first place.

THIS

ISN'T HOT ENOUGH TO PLAY THIS AND SHE HAS AN ANNOYING VOICE AS WELL.

Hmmm... well, I guess that means Rogue won't appear in the Gambit movie.

I would love to see Anna Paquin get to play a full-on asskicking Rogue.

Can they make up their minds about whether or not they want to recast the older x-men or keep the actors they have this half recast and half the originals is annoying.

How would they even have included her supped up powers in the Singer movies without Ms. Marvel contributions? Rogue was useless in all the singers movies she didn't bring anything to the table.
They might as well had made Jubilee the intro mutant and Wolverine's sidekick.

Then at least Rogue would have been a grown up with her powers already established no reason to have brought her origin unless it was a flashback.
And made her a villain throughout the first movie.

If Fox wasnt so narrow minded they could've had the coolest Female Hero kicking @ss in their movies.

Rogue really got the worst end of the Singer shit stick. She was little more than a plot device in the first X-Men, though she got some decent characterization on the margins. But then she was increasingly irrelevant in every sequel she appeared in.

It's like if the Lektor device in "From Russia with Love" was also in "Goldfinger" for some reason, but nobody really cared because that movie wasn't about the mechanics of the Cold War. And then it popped up again in "Thunderball" and nobody cared because it still wasn't important to the plot. And then it was included in its own subplot of "You Only Live Twice", but then cut out of the movie because it was irrelevant.

Rogue was barely involved in the franchise beyond vague teenage angst. Such a completely missed opportunity by everyone involved. In X-3, she could have gotten the cure, only to discover that her unique power actually gave her permanent super strength and flight and finally she could be proud of her mutancy, rather than be ashamed of it (you know, actually making good on the gay subtext). Or at the very least let Rogue be part of the big anti-sentinel fight (with her Ms. Marvel powers). No need to explain them, just let her come to the party.

It was never Paquin's fault that Fox never gave her the opportunity to grow into the Real Rogue. A mutant enjoying their mutation was rarely Fox's MO, anyway.

It wouldn't even make sense to add rogue. The gambit movie will take place in the 80s so she would be a little too old

It feels weird that ive watched these films since I was a young kid but, they dont really feel any different/moved forward very much in all that time which has only really happened in the last two-three years.

The next actress will be better, can only go up from here.

@Matador: Rogue was the bullshit mcguffin for Magneto's bullshit plan, remember? They shat all over one of the most beloved X-Men characters just so that the "shocking twist ending" could be that Magneto was secretly after Rogue so that she be a spare battery for his magic machine. :/
Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 9/28/2015, 7:26 AM
"A mutant enjoying their mutation was rarely Fox's MO, anyway."

Actually that's not true, the evil mutants generally did enjoy being mutants. Mystique, Toad, and Magneto had fun with their powers. Charles did, for a bit in First Class, and the First Class recruits a bit...

But watching all of the X-Men movies makes it clear: "good mutants" see their mutation as something between a curse and a grim responsibility. "Evil mutants" (and irresponsible kids who don't know better) see their mutations as something to be proud of, something to have fun with.

Maybe it was a weird political backfill from them associating mutation with homosexuality. Rather than being the celebration of diversity and acceptance of "who you are" that it could have been, the writers and studios consciously or subconsciously instilled into their world a very pointed critique of gay culture. "It's okay to be gay, but don't be happy about it."

Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 9/28/2015, 7:29 AM
It breaks my heart to even think about the X-Men as a franchise, though. So much garbage twisted in on itself... These images of comic Rogue are just a microcosm of what it could be like, but... instead we get grim and gritty, dull and dark, boring and bland.
