The Wolverine Will Start Filming In April!

Director Darren Aronofsky fresh off a two year deal with Fox Studios plans on starting filming on the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, titled The Wolverine next spring.

Director Darren Aronofsky has recently singed a two year deal in which his production company Protozoa will produce films for Twentieth Century Fox and Fox Searchlight Pictures.

The first film in this deal will be the sequel to the 2009 box office hit and X-Men prequel X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The sequel will be written by Oscar winning scribe Christopher McQuarrie starring Hugh Jackman returning as the title character, Wolverine.

According to the article filming is slated to begin in April of next year. The company is said to be looking for a winter of 2011 release date. The film so far only stars Jackman as we follow Wolverine directly after the events of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The sequel will take place in Japan. No other cast members singed on as of now, though casting should start soon if they're aiming for a spring start.

JoshWilding - 11/18/2010, 1:40 PM
Sounds like they're either rushing it or it'll be no action snore fest that wont require much in the way of post-production CGI. Either way, [frick] Fox. I like Aronofsky but I'm not paying to see this!
StrangerX - 11/18/2010, 1:49 PM

Yeah but @ StrangerX.... After the SH1T their pulling over at FIST A$$ camp I don't give a sh1T, time to make a stand and get our X-Universe back at MARVEL STUDIOS anyhow possible!

What FOX is doing with X-Men: First Class is unforgivable!

DukeAcureds - 11/18/2010, 2:26 PM
I remember in 1976, I heard about this film that the young up-and-comer, George Lucas was directing about a Flash Gorden-esque space flick, for the modern age. I thought "This sounds pretty neat, but I'm not going to pay any of my money to see it. It's FOX! It'll be shit. Lucas should take his property to another Corporate Empire, like Disney or something."
Curmudgeon - 11/18/2010, 2:35 PM
@JoshW "Sounds like they're either rushing it or it'll be no action snore fest that wont require much in the way of post-production CGI."

Many, many years' worth of martial arts films begged me to remind you there's a practically-shot middle ground.
SuperSpiderMan5778 - 11/18/2010, 2:44 PM
ok what's going on? is this a sequel is this not a sequel? is it following the events after borigins or is wolverine working in a sushi bar cutting up fish in japan with his claws?? what the hell is happening!!??
bleedthefreak - 11/18/2010, 3:02 PM
BaneKill77 don't take this as fact I read it a while ago and might have misinterpreted it. it still will most likely be 2012 but its to late to change the article
CarpesDiems - 11/18/2010, 3:12 PM
I wonder wich mutant fox is going to mutilate this time....
gost - 11/18/2010, 4:41 PM
I'm sorry to who ever thinks that fox cares one once about what fans think your fooling yourselves. After the crap fest that was origins I will not spend my hard earned money on one of their comic book movies again even if Marvel never gets the x-propertys back. fox wont be getting my money either.
GUNSMITH - 11/18/2010, 5:13 PM

P862010 - 11/18/2010, 5:46 PM
guys have faith i will say this Arronofsky is the best director to ever be attached to a comic book movie ever he makes nolan look like uwe boll in comparison
Scarecrow2 - 11/18/2010, 5:54 PM
If they decide to...
1.Put him in a suit that resembles the brown and yellow legendary costume. (I wanna say get a mask on his face but I don't believe it's going to be snowing in hell during 2011)
2.Play with the whole Silver Samurai villain thing.
And 3. Throw some Hand ninjas.
...then it may have a chance!
RockNRollCC - 11/18/2010, 7:24 PM
Sounds ok (if he gets brown costume), but I want Deadpool movie!!!!

If it means wolvie for winter 2011 release, give Deadpool fall 2012 release.

MovieTheaterLad - 11/18/2010, 11:43 PM
@Lucaxmen

Your picture make it looks like the guy getting beaten up is saying it, which makes it much more true than it's original intent.
angrynerd - 11/19/2010, 1:43 AM
Good to hear more people coming out in favor of seeing Wolvie suited up this time. I was starting to think everyone had lost their friggin minds.
GUNSMITH - 11/19/2010, 2:44 AM
SINGER WAS THE ONE THAT KILLED THE MASKS...IF YOU REALLY THINK ABOUT IT, WOLVERINE WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAD ONE THAT WAS AN ICONIC LOOK. I PETITION FOR THE SUIT...YOU CANT DO JAPAN WITHOUT IT. IF THE SUIT DOESN'T SHOW YOU CAN [WannabeSite]E FOX...BECAUSE THATS WHAT FOX DOES TO CBM'S...THEY "FOX" THEM.
jimoakley666 - 11/19/2010, 3:06 AM
"I'm not pay to see blah blah blah" - Yeah, nobody cares.

I'm gonna be there first in line to see this. It's looking very promising so far and Aronofsky is a cracking director.

It baffles me why people think if they say they won't pay to see it that Fox would give a shit about anything they have to say? You are no long a paying customer. You mean nothing to them. Bye bye.

And as for people who want to see the gay-arse funny book costumes... Well... The less said about that the better. It's not gonna happen. Simple as that. I wanna see a Wolverine movie that you can take seriously (after the disappointment of Origins and X3 following the amazing X2). I do not want to see the bloody Power Rangers with claws.
jimoakley666 - 11/19/2010, 6:06 AM
@grayfox117

Ha ha ha. I personally love the fist two X-Men films.

The closed-minded dip-shits on here who condemn a movie before they've even seen it because they think, somehow, their 'love' of the source material is greater that that of others, give 'true comic book fans' a bad name. That's why most of them are regarded by the movie industry, be it Fox, Sony or Marvel themselves, as unimportant nerds.

And by the way. I've been reading the books since most of the kids on this site were sucking on their mother's tit so don't bloody lecture me on being a "true comic book fan".
ManThing - 11/19/2010, 6:13 AM
They are going to take a great story and turn it into a bad one. This is what Fox does.

Why would I waste my money on that?
angrynerd - 11/19/2010, 7:07 AM
@jimoakley666 sorry dude but those movies were crap. You are among a very small percentage of comic book fans who actually approve of the way the xmen were depicted. The casting was horrible. The special effects were worse. They strayed so far from the source material that they should have just abandoned it altogether and called the movie something else. If they'd have cast Danny Devito as Wolverine and Oprah Winfrey as Storm it would not have been worse.
jimoakley666 - 11/19/2010, 7:42 AM
@grayfox117 - I'm a fighter, bud. It's all I know.

@angrynerd - I seem to be in the minority on this increasingly daft-minded website, but not out there in the real world.

The first two X-movies were great movies AND they were fantastic comic-book movies. Without the success of X-Men there wouldn't even BE this current comic book movie renaissance that we are experiencing at the moment.

I really honestly can't be arsed with these message boards any more. I'm off. Later all.
angrynerd - 11/19/2010, 8:02 AM
@jimoakley666
I love reading your comments and respect your opinions.
But to say that fox doesn't care about us because we're not paying customers is ludicrous. Why would they make a comic book movie if they didn't want comic book fans to come and see it? They want everyone to see it and like it, particularly comic fans. Of course you can't please everyone, but if you make a movie based on a comic book that in effect alienates that books fanbase then you have failed.
angrynerd - 11/19/2010, 8:08 AM
Where those movies screwed up is by trying to hard to make these characters believable in the real world. I think the more realistic they try to make these movies the more ridiculous they look! Case in point...The Dark Knight. I enjoyed that movie, but the idea of some billionaire running around in a costume and taking on organized crime without every using a gun is so far beyond the scope of reason that it borders on being absurd. That's why I find Zack Snyders work so revolutionary, because he paints a picture of a world these characters can actually live in and not look ridiculous...costumes and all. I'd like to see take on the xmen.
