Wolverine Time Traveling In X-MEN: DOFP To Do More Than Stop Giant Robots

"There's bad blood because of everything Erik's done to Charles. Obviously Hank is on Charles' side completely," says Nicholas Hoult on the current X-Men factions in the 70's. Plus, a small hint about Wolverine's mission in the film.

X-Men Days of Future Past Sentinel Peter Dinklage

In addition to the new photos for X-Men: Days of Future Past in November's issue of Entertainment Weekly, there's also some brief quotes and story hints from director Bryan Singer and some of the cast. The more spoilerish elements are hidden but you can highlight and read that bit at your own discretion.

You may recall seeing set photos that leaked earlier this year which showed an intense confrontation between Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Hoult's Beast. "There's bad blood because of everything Erik's done to Charles. Obviously Hank is on Charles' side completely," says Nicholas Hoult.

While many an X-Men detractor decries Bryan Singer's disregard for the source material in past X-Men movies, he does occasionally pull a few things from the comic books. Said Singer, "Xavier's chair is a hover chair. That's something I wanted to do from the comic that I hadn't seen yet." Singer also describes the mindset of Bolivar Trask, played by Peter Dinklage. "He's actually kind of a peace lover. He sees the advent of the mutants as a way to unite people. There's this moment where he basically explains when modern men came along, it meant extinction for the Neanderthal; now humans are the Neanderthal, so this fight is for our survival as a species."

Spoiler:[It's revealed that when Wolverine travels back in time, one of the first thing he and Professor X do is break Magneto out of jail. Central to Wolverine's mission is the need to stop Trask from creating the Sentinels and to stop Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique from doing something that Singer doesn't specify.]

"Wolverine basically plays the Charles Xavier role in this movie and I kind of play the Wolverine role," says James McAvoy on encountering a time traveling Hugh Jackman in the 70's. He promises surprises are in store for his character, dark ones that will eventually turn Professor X into the man first seen in 200's X-Men.

Micro-News: X-Men Edition

Awesome, man!
GodzillaKart - 11/4/2013, 11:19 AM
I keep switching back and forth between being excited for this film and complete exhaustion for the entire franchise.
InfiniteMonkey - 11/4/2013, 11:20 AM
In other words, Wolverine and the Gang part 15...again. LOL

Still looking forward to this though.

Nomis - 11/4/2013, 11:21 AM
Prince is NOT pleased!

Amazing512 - 11/4/2013, 11:21 AM
I just want to see the sentinels in action. I'm expecting nothing short of an epic battle sequence of al the Xmen Past, present, and future vs upwards to 50 or 60 or 100 sentinels!
JoeMomma29 - 11/4/2013, 11:22 AM
I bet they stop Mystique from killing the President like how Kitty stopped Destiny in the comics.
MatioShack - 11/4/2013, 11:22 AM
For the love of God, just reboot. This franchise "continuity" has become a tangled mess and they've clearly been written in to a corner.
GinjaNinja - 11/4/2013, 11:22 AM
ugh I was so excited about the reboot and everything, but now everything I've heard since is kinda...... idk feel like we might have x3 all over again.
ALmazing - 11/4/2013, 11:23 AM
Although I am looking forward to this movie, I am still not sure about how the continuity of these movie is going to work, specially with Charles Raven relationship. I am thinking they going to pull a star trek and reset the timeline, so basically everything that happened before this movie is not going to matter.
YoungThanos - 11/4/2013, 11:23 AM
So they're basically going back to stop Black Trask from becoming white dwarf?
Ryguy88 - 11/4/2013, 11:23 AM
No one complains that there are 25 movies starring James Bond and I'd argue that Wolverine is a better character.

I'm excited for this movie, it's sounds really ambitious and that is needed right now for this genre.
CherryBomb - 11/4/2013, 11:24 AM
Aaaah I wondered why Magneto was dragging Mystique across the floor!
GinjaNinja - 11/4/2013, 11:25 AM
See this is why I want them in the MCU. X-men as characters become far to boring because they all get their powers from the same place. as far as movies go, so we need something new. like.. idk but as characters they are becoming over used now... Just wish we would see less X-men movies and more solo movies from them.
Ryguy88 - 11/4/2013, 11:27 AM
Ratner's not directing so no worries about this being a heavy handed X3-type of movie.

In fact, the X-movies that Singer has been involved in, X-men, X-2, First Class and The Wolverine, have all been really good!

thebearjew - 11/4/2013, 11:27 AM
first off im 20 years old

but I remember back in the day seeing 2000's X-MEN my mind was blown it was absolutely amazing and gorgeous
little did I know at the time that this was the start of something BIG
thebearjew - 11/4/2013, 11:28 AM
Ryguy88 I agree
singer really is the one who started the comic book movie age were enjoying now
MarkJulian - 11/4/2013, 11:29 AM
@bluedude BLADE

YoungThanos - 11/4/2013, 11:32 AM

I swear you Fox-lovers would praise this film if Hugh Jackman teamed up with Frosty and Rudolph to save Christmas....

The Grinch would likely be a Blizzard in Singers version.

EpitomeofAwesome - 11/4/2013, 11:32 AM
novaprime - 11/4/2013, 11:32 AM
Cyclops might be a huge Cameo!
Ryguy88 - 11/4/2013, 11:33 AM
Singer is a bit of a jerk though for bailing on X-3 and letting a decent story be delivered so poorly and generically by a much lesser director.

I don't rip on Fox much because I don't see them as being different than any other movie studio but they should have just delayed X-3 and find a GOOD director instead of grabbing whoever was available in a days notice like they did!
marcel - 11/4/2013, 11:33 AM
Thor2 81% and falling fast
Scorpion8125 - 11/4/2013, 11:33 AM
I am officially applying for the position of guy who takes the blue stuff off of Jennifer Lawrence each day.

It's a messy job, but someone's gotta do it.

TheBlackSurge - 11/4/2013, 11:33 AM
I wonder how the quicksilver scene is gonna work....Cant wait for this movie!!!
YoungThanos - 11/4/2013, 11:34 AM
"Iceman is the worst part of the X-Men"

No, Fox Studios is the worst part of the X-men.
EpitomeofAwesome - 11/4/2013, 11:34 AM
Why must there be so much Wolverine...
ATrueHero1987 - 11/4/2013, 11:34 AM
I'm kinda feeling the same way @Godzillafart feels about this movie.

@MarkJulian Right! IDK people don't want to acknowledge that...
Scorpion8125 - 11/4/2013, 11:34 AM
And no Cyclops or Jean Grey just sucks the big one.

MarkJulian - 11/4/2013, 11:35 AM
@Scorpion8125 She's wearing a body suit this time. No more paint.
Ryguy88 - 11/4/2013, 11:35 AM
Mark Julian, I'm watching Blade right now...it has nothing in common with today's CMBs other than the fact that its a comic book adaption.

Its an action/horror, its low budget, its really small in scale and not many people watched it!
ATrueHero1987 - 11/4/2013, 11:36 AM
@marcel and that relates to X-Men: DOFP how....?
ALmazing - 11/4/2013, 11:36 AM
Agree with MarkJulian, Blade doesn't get enough credit for starting this whole thing.
novaprime - 11/4/2013, 11:36 AM
@YoungThanos Agreed 100%!!! but if this movies Turns out to be shiitty all these fans that are hear praising itt Now!! Are going to say that they never liked singers movies!! & they never said it was going to be good WHEN IT TURNS OUT TO BE X 3 AGAIN!!
Ryguy88 - 11/4/2013, 11:36 AM
Blade didn't start anything! It was a continuation of the vampire hunter sub-genre.
Vegeta - 11/4/2013, 11:37 AM
I'm liking the sound of the Hover chair. I presume that when we see Magneto pulling Mystique towards him, he is stopping her from doing what hasn't been specified. I can't wait for this!
Nomis - 11/4/2013, 11:37 AM
Only someone born in the last 20 years would think that Singer started the "Comic Book Movie" age because you don't have a CLUE.

And Only someone who only know about the X-MEN through Singer films and NOT from the comics would think these films are about the real X-Men.

Because they are not!
isee - 11/4/2013, 11:37 AM
Was on extra on set for this, can't wait to see it!
isee - 11/4/2013, 11:38 AM
Was an* extra
YoungThanos - 11/4/2013, 11:38 AM
"Thor2 81% and falling fast."

It's at 82% and isn't falling much at all.
