X-MEN: DOFP To "Right Wrongs Of The Past"; Bryan Singer Not Mentioned At WonderCon Panel

In what could be a sign of things to come, X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer wasn't mentioned at the WonderCon panel for the movie, while Simon Kinberg has described it as making up for Fox's past mistakes. Which ones? Well, X-Men: The Last Stand's take on Dark Phoenix for one...

Writer and producer Simon Kinberg was on hand at the WonderCon panel for X-Men: Days of Future Past today as a replacement for the previously announced Bryan Singer due to the allegations made earlier this week that the director raped an underage teen. While the host of the panel used alluded to the subject, there was not so much as a single mention of Singer according to The Hollywood Reporter. This could give us an indication of where things might go from here, especially as there have already been rumblings that the filmmaker won't appear at any of the premieres of press junkets. While he is innocent until proven guilty, Fox clearly don't want him associated with the movie until this whole situation is dealt with. In other news, Kinberg had this to say about the big screen adaptation of the beloved comic book story. "This and the Dark Phoenix are two most famous stories. We could have done better with the Dark Phoenix," Kinberg said, referring to the critically panned take on the story in X-Men: The Last Stand. "This is our attempt to right the wrongs [of] the past." How do you guys feel about this news? Sound off below.

Wait, wasn`t it Kinberg who wrote "The Last Stand"?
Nappa - 4/19/2014, 3:53 PM
So will they redo the Dark Pheonix story?
DrDoom - 4/19/2014, 3:54 PM
Like I haven't heard this before . . . .

PROVE IT. DOFP better deliver.
MsDarkPhoenix - 4/19/2014, 3:55 PM
That sounds interesting... ;)
OnePunchBaldy - 4/19/2014, 3:56 PM
So what you're saying is that they're bringing Jean and Cyclops back to life. Let's see

I'm certain that we'll have Scott and Jean back by the end of the film.

MrBatmor - 4/19/2014, 3:58 PM
@Mrbj it wasnt renners mistake..,singer bailed on x3 for Superman returns...he was already in pre-production for x3 when he left...
GliderMan - 4/19/2014, 3:58 PM
DOFP won't deliver, it'll be entertaining but it will [frick] the timeline up even further and piss me off.
Abary - 4/19/2014, 3:58 PM
But I thought Singer said he was in Canada when the rape apparently occurred. Why is he trying so hard to avoid promotion if he's confident that he didn't do it?
Kurne - 4/19/2014, 3:59 PM
... But no Emma Frost with Scott?
MrBatmor - 4/19/2014, 4:00 PM
I want fox to reboot this whole franchise and start new...
TheAmericanPatriot - 4/19/2014, 4:00 PM
There's too much wrong to be righted, Fox.
SuperiorMrGod - 4/19/2014, 4:01 PM
Hmmm. Does this mean Singer will un-penetrate Edan?
Brainiac13 - 4/19/2014, 4:02 PM

I hope so......the timeline will change and the new cast will continue it.
SuperiorMrGod - 4/19/2014, 4:02 PM

I don't think he has a choice in the matter. I think Fox wants him away from the project more than anything.
SauronsBANE - 4/19/2014, 4:02 PM
Contrary to popular belief, Ratner entered into X3 so late in the game that most of what was already there belonged to Vaughn/Singer. It was hardly Ratner's movie at all, but he gets all the blame unfortunately. It's pretty hard to make a movie completely change course when the storyboards are all already in place, the script is mostly set in stone, and pre production is already underway.
CherryBomb - 4/19/2014, 4:02 PM
People can blame Ratner because he's the director, but he strikes me as someone who basically says "Yes" to everything, including a poor script. So to me, Kinberg and Penn are to blame.
IDKwhatToChoose - 4/19/2014, 4:02 PM
The more Fox and ABC distance themselves the more I think he is guilty.
NoPhucksGiven - 4/19/2014, 4:02 PM
i so would have been the elephant in the room and asked what the [frick] up is up with that sick [frick] singer. nasty mother[frick]er.
MrBatmor - 4/19/2014, 4:02 PM
Although if singer is innocent it would be kinda sad that he could not attent the Premiers of his biggest movie...
Nick56 - 4/19/2014, 4:03 PM
I think DOFP will alter the timeline and erase the events of Last Stand (or alter them) and Logan will wake up in present day to find Jean and Cyclops alive and the future saved.
CherryBomb - 4/19/2014, 4:03 PM
Janssen and Marsden need to return. I'd hate to think of their last appearance in this franchise being a poor one.
CherryBomb - 4/19/2014, 4:04 PM
Jean, Scott, Angel and Mystique should be Horsemen in Apocalypse!
Romijn has gotten back to her "Mystique" body lately, could she return? Hmmm

CorronZenith30 - 4/19/2014, 4:04 PM
So are they gonna ignore the origins story of Logan as well? That movie truly ruined the fox/marvel experience for me... More than xmen 3
MrStarLord - 4/19/2014, 4:05 PM
Great they are erasing that piece of crap
MrBatmor - 4/19/2014, 4:05 PM
@mrbj retner came too late..fox should have delayed the film..they had the storyboards ready before he came...he nearly had no creative input in that film...he was just on the set for management..
marvel72 - 4/19/2014, 4:05 PM
"days of future past" should be the title of bryan singer's autobiography.
DurtyTalynt - 4/19/2014, 4:06 PM
Frick Fox. They never made an xmen movie and they arent about to start now. Trailers forDOFP still dont look like an xmen movie. Terrible interpretation of the genre. None of my peeps are seeing this flick.
MrStarLord - 4/19/2014, 4:06 PM
eww fat wolverine
Brainiac13 - 4/19/2014, 4:07 PM
Matthew Vaughn was interviewed about the other X-Men continuity issues and he responded by saying...

I don't give a shit about the other movies
BruceLeroy - 4/19/2014, 4:08 PM
Fox can easily "right wrongs of the past" with a reboot. But they have a hard-on for Fassbender,Jackman, and Lawrence so it's not going to happen.
gambgel - 4/19/2014, 4:09 PM
why do you feel the need to mention the polemic issue in all the articles about this movie, Josh?

the issue was already posted two days ago, to repeat it on each article is really tasteless and is starting to seem like a troll move. no offense, but thats how its looking
mctrinket - 4/19/2014, 4:09 PM
MsDarkPhoenix - 4/19/2014, 4:11 PM
This article is for me guys!! It even has my old avatar!! So I can say what I want. For example

Nubase - 4/19/2014, 4:12 PM
l'm prettys sure theres gona be a few surprises in this movie, theres so much they are holding back

@GoldenOne33 -

the cyclops talk, in the 25 moments viral there are 2 pics of the young professor x with a guy with glasses next to him, one standing and another pushing his wheelchair but the pics are from a far but who knows, if cyclops is back that can change everything
Nomis - 4/19/2014, 4:13 PM
To "Right the Wrongs of the past" for these "X-Men" movies would be to burn every copy of the previous films that have ever existed.

Be that on DVD or the original raw footage and never have them mention in a public forum anywhere on earth, without the severest of punishment, ever again til the end of time or at least till they are rebooted and done with a director and producer that actually know about the legacy of the X-men from their comic lore and adapt that to the big screen in a fashion that is respectable to the source material.

Outside of doing all that, you're just repeating past mistakes.
Scorpion8125 - 4/19/2014, 4:13 PM

Bring back Jean & Cyclops.

And keeping away sicko Singer is a good move.

There are many children under the age of 16 whose parents won't let their kids see DoFP when they hear all the sick boy boinking news. There are a lot of casual movie goers who will skip the movie when they hear it too.

This news will cost the studio many millions. Whether Singer is found guilty or not, he will pay dearly for this. I seriously doubt he will be directing the next X-Men movie or any other movie for FOX. All the major studios may see him as PR poison.
