X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Sequel To Film In January

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Sequel To Film In January

To avoid a conflict with Jennifer Lawrence's Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire, Fox has decided to push back filming of the next X-Men movie til January.

A source has informed The Hollywood Reporter that Fox has given talent agencies a heads up that filming of the X-Men: First Class sequel will begin in January. This makes sense as Jennifer Lawrence is attached to the Hunger Games franchise and filming for that sequel was expected to conflict. Now, Lionsgate can begin filming Catching Fire in August and avoid any issues with Fox's X-Men.

Over the past couple weeks it was reported that there had been tension between the two studios as both were fighting over the services of Jennifer Lawrence, who co-stars as Mystique in X-Men and stars as Katniss Everdeen in Hunger Games. Both films have done very well at the box office and sequels were never in doubt. The only issue was which sequel would get out of the gates first.

Hunger Games isn't out of the woods just yet, as they still have to resolve who will be directing the sequel Catching Fire. Director of the first film, Gary Ross, has been reported to be battling with Lionsgate for a bigger payout after Hunger Games became a smash hit. Sources for The Hollywood Reporter expect Ross to settle the dispute and be at the helm for the second film.

Good. I would hate for her not to be in either of those films.

This movie will flop because it's not realistic.

I hated the first movie. I'll hate this one too. Give me the original 5 if you're going to call the movie "First Class"!
CaptainAmerica31 - 4/5/2012, 9:41 PM
FC was the best CBM last year, hands down
Kamdan - 4/5/2012, 9:43 PM
Hopefully Lawrence will continue to have a predominant role and will not be resorted to eye candy and just stand around like the character did in the first three films.
TheGambitFreak - 4/5/2012, 9:45 PM
Yeah, won't be watching this sequel to a cluster[frick].

Here's the team for Fist Ass 2.

Hope Summers

Brother Hood Of Evil Mutants:

Emma Frost
John Stamos
Kitty Pryde
Jean Grey
Ice Man

Cause that makes as much sense as the first [frick]ing movie.
TheGambitFreak - 4/5/2012, 9:47 PM
Oh and Mystique and Magneto will get it on and she'll give birth to Wolverine.
RobGrizzly - 4/5/2012, 9:48 PM
Do we NEED to keep having Mystique in all these movies?
Her character was hella annoying anyway.

BANE5000 - 4/5/2012, 9:48 PM
I guess they really want her back for Mystique, now that her name is gonna have some pull since the The Hunger Games is doing well, I say kool...now lets just wait and see which characters theyre gonna put in this prequel/sequel.

Chip Shreck reportedly makes an appearance in TDKR.

I don't think I will be able to bring myself to get excited for the next one. I love X-Men. By far my favorite comic growing up. But I keep saying this and I seem to be the minority, but I really thought First Class was terrible and I can't figure out why everyone liked it so much. I finally brought myself to watch it again thinking maybe I'm being overly critical, maybe it will be more enjoyable the second time around... I disliked it more the second viewing! Maybe if they bring in Mr. Sinister or some awesome villain played by a respectable actor then I'll join in the hype, we'll see. But expectation will not be high.
OnLeatherWings - 4/5/2012, 9:49 PM
First Class was better than all cbm's last year. stoked for the second one i hope they keep the same vibe. hopefully some new characters can be introduced.
BANE5000 - 4/5/2012, 9:52 PM

I think u mean if her and Magneto get it on or if Azreal is still in it, she'll give birth to Nightcrawler :D
xXkryptoniteXx - 4/5/2012, 9:57 PM
I can't wait, this sucks that catching fire is going forward first then xmen first class sequel but that's also good since they can map out the story and explain more on what the plot holes are. I want to see the connection to singer's xmen to first class since they are set in the same canon but there's a rift in time, in the movie. I for one accept what has happen to xmen in films since xmen has so many different stories to tell from alternative dimensions.

Also this is to me marvel's take on a close to a grounded comic book movie, I do like my comic book movies to feel a bit grounded to reality since it is a live action motion picture film and not a live action Saturday morning cartoon. If I want that I'll watch my wolverine and the xmen.
thalidomide - 4/5/2012, 9:58 PM
@SpiderMarvelite: LOL!
BlindLemonShemp - 4/5/2012, 9:58 PM
CYCLOPS AND SINISTER OR PISS OFF FOX! i mean um.. please? oh mighty entertainment overlords
TheGambitFreak - 4/5/2012, 10:02 PM
BANE500 No you see, tha's what happened in the stupid comics, not the awesome movies! LOL! God, why go out of your way and not follow the simple source material? Your just making more work for yourself! A real first class based on that more recent first class run would be amazing!
mrHJK - 4/5/2012, 10:07 PM
Ya know, Mystique is a shapeshifter...She does not have to be played by the same actress. Easiest character to recast ever.
novaprime - 4/5/2012, 10:07 PM
Please bring 1.cyclops, 2.arc angel,3.beast, 4. Ice man 5. marvel girl, Magneto as the villian
Ace101 - 4/5/2012, 10:07 PM
The first X men movie- good movie to watch but is a terrible x men movie. Was kind of hoping Fox would lust let up on the damn franchise already. :(
marvelstudios - 4/5/2012, 10:09 PM
i want the x-men rights to go back to marvel/disney, but i know that wont happen anytime soon
CaptainAmerica31 - 4/5/2012, 10:10 PM
@thesharkkinght they just want to downplay the movie because it's made by fox and if it does well marvel studios will never get the rights back
CaptainAmerica - 4/5/2012, 10:12 PM
Only people mad are the ones who swore that a Fox movie would never be better than a Marvel Studios movie. Poor retards, can't accept the fact that First Class was better than Thor and Captain America.
CaptainAmerica - 4/5/2012, 10:20 PM
@PatientZero, you're a smart person that's why you can tell the difference between a comic book and a film.
CaptainAmerica - 4/5/2012, 10:21 PM
Damn, then there's complete morons like SharkKnight who don't have a clue wtf theyre talking about.
daywalker1623 - 4/5/2012, 10:26 PM
As a movie First Class was good, as a CBM it wasn't that good because of the characters they used and created. The first class in the comics was cyclops, beast, jean grey, iceman and angel.
So, in the movie we have beast, great! But we also have cyclops's brother? A chick with pixie wings as angel but shoots fire balls out of her mouth? Who is this character?
It was supposed to be a prequel to the first X-Men, how come it didn't match was done and said about their past in the first one. Beast builds cerebro and not Eric and Charles? Just one example.
Please read the comics and use them as a resource, we understand there needs to be little changes to adapt well for a movie. As long as the important things are there we will understand. Follow the example of what Marvel is doing and don't just make the usual hollywood crap.
HULK2099 - 4/5/2012, 10:26 PM
Forget the hunger games just do x-men movies Jennifer !
daywalker1623 - 4/5/2012, 10:28 PM
Oh and utilize more villains then just magneto all the time.
TheGambitFreak - 4/5/2012, 10:33 PM
TheSharkKnight I like FF4, both of them, they were cheesy just like the comics. And Daredevil is one of my favs. The Director's Cut that is, it really is good, took alot of stuff from the comics, as well as a buch of cameos from writers, and artists. Ben Affleck really wasn't that bad, and DD had one of the most faithful adapted costumes to date. I have to say though, I could care less about those franchises right now, Now X-Men, X-Men is really close to my heart, it's sad to see it get destroyed like this. Oh and as far as your continuity erros comment goes, fanboys wouldn't get all "rage quit" on it, we'd love it to get rebooted and done right, but unfortunately we know that means it'd have to be with Marvel Studios, which will never happen cause Fox, with their last, dying breath will run that shit into the ground.
tazmaniak - 4/5/2012, 10:34 PM
Cool.We now have Cap 2, Spidey 2, First Class 2, an untitled Marvel film and whatever DC puts out for 2014.
TheGambitFreak - 4/5/2012, 10:34 PM
daywalker1623 - 4/5/2012, 10:47 PM
@sharkknight the problem with giving everything to Nolan, while he makes great movies. He only uses the characters and doesn't utilize the source material almost at all. His Bat movies have been crime dramas with a superhero. Again great movies, but not really CBM's.
kevshardlemonade - 4/5/2012, 10:51 PM
First Class came out two years ago. Hunger Games came out like last week. Why is Hunger Games getting first dibs and rushing a sequel. And why did the guys doing first class waiting so long?
prettynuclear2 - 4/5/2012, 11:05 PM
First Class was really done right. I'd rank it above Iron Man.
gambgel - 4/5/2012, 11:16 PM
Great news!!!!

So X-men starts production on January?? thats something new to Fox.... if they release on 2014, that would mean they would have MORE THAN A YEAR for the postproduction!

That would be PERFECT! maybe the sequel will have more complex special effects...

gannicus - 4/5/2012, 11:38 PM
loved the first movie hope the 2nd one is not rushed because of the hunger games follow up.
EditNinja - 4/5/2012, 11:42 PM
It will not be called X-Men: Second Period
Luis75 - 4/5/2012, 11:57 PM
I would like to thank Fox for making me more of an Avengers Fan than X-men!!!!!!!
