Channing Tatum Will Play GAMBIT In Spin-Off After X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Introduction

Channing Tatum Will Play GAMBIT In Spin-Off After X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Introduction

Lauren Shuler Donner revealed at last night's UK premiere for X-Men: Days of Future Past that Channing Tatum will play Gambit, but we now known that he will be introduced in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse before being given his own solo spin-off. Read on for details!

When X-Men: Days of Future Past producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirmed that Channing Tatum will indeed play Gambit, it was still very much up in the air as to when it would actually happen. After all, how long has Ryan Reynolds been attached to the Deadpool spin-off? Well, according to The Hollywood Reporter, "Multiple sources say that Tatum will get a stand-alone spinoff, with his version of Gambit being introduced in X-Men: Apocalypse. The stand-alone film is still in development, however, and no director has been attached." The deal has presumably closed then, and the character's connections to Apocalypse - he was one of the Four Horsemen for a time - will likely be explored in that movie which is supposed to be directed by Bryan Singer. Tatum has risen to popularity after roles in movies like 21 Jump Street, Magic Mike and White House Down, and his take on Gambit should be interesting to say the least! What do you think?

So Gambit gets a solo film before Deadpool? Fox...

charlie2094 - 5/13/2014, 10:01 AM
Where's Deadpool??

Hopefully comic-con sheds some light on Fox's plans. Never cared too much for the Gambit character, good to know that Fox is planning on doing more with their franchises at least!

This is why Fox are losing. Give Gambit and Deadpool a solo flick each. Don't bother with introducing them in a massive film where they will probably get 3 minutes of screen time.

MrBlackJack - 5/13/2014, 10:04 AM
This is great news! I'll give Tatum a chance!
XF14 - 5/13/2014, 10:06 AM
So this is maybe the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. I'll give it time though, FOX usually knows how to find ways to be even more unimpressive.
MrBlackJack - 5/13/2014, 10:07 AM
Still want a Dpool film tho
TheDarkPassenger - 5/13/2014, 10:07 AM
Gambit needs as spin off as much as my ass does.
ProfessorX - 5/13/2014, 10:07 AM
See this article re Deadpool -

I don't know why Josh didn't post it on CBM.
Starfox - 5/13/2014, 10:09 AM
But that Batsuit tho!
EpitomeofAwesome - 5/13/2014, 10:09 AM
I can get behind this
Desrow - 5/13/2014, 10:10 AM
Who gives a [frick] about Gambit or X-Men now?? today it's Batfleck day!
Ranger14 - 5/13/2014, 10:11 AM
I have yet to see a Channing Tatum film that I have felt he is strong enough lead material to carry a film. Females may disagree with that and I am sure that is the angle they are going with in casting him. I understand now why they cast Tatum being they are going to go the solo spin-off route, but I still don't care for the casting.
TheRationalNerd - 5/13/2014, 10:11 AM
Cool!! Can't wait!! So much good news today! (Well, at lest for me) lol
sinthegreat - 5/13/2014, 10:11 AM
I can't help but think he [frick]ed someone for this part
TheManFromMars - 5/13/2014, 10:11 AM
This thread be good
SinAllnite - 5/13/2014, 10:11 AM
I'll give it a shot
Nick56 - 5/13/2014, 10:11 AM
Batfleck looks incredible! Very Dark Knight Returns-ish.
WombRaider - 5/13/2014, 10:12 AM
i dont understand why people want a deadpool movie so badly. hes a character that doesnt really translate passed comic books. did anyone play that awful deadpool game? with all the 5th grade troll jokes
EpitomeofAwesome - 5/13/2014, 10:12 AM
Most likely Bryan Singer
Nick56 - 5/13/2014, 10:12 AM
As for Gambit, im cool with it. Never really been a fan with the character so the casting doesn't bother me.
GliderMan - 5/13/2014, 10:12 AM
I just want to know where XMO:W stands. Everybody's all like "the producers said it was not canon" but I have NEVER seen a source.

While Donner watched
FantasticSpidey - 5/13/2014, 10:14 AM
Deadpool is lame anyway. Gambit is a much better character, but this will be bad more than likely. FOX has still yet to put out a film that is better than just average.
Batmantis - 5/13/2014, 10:14 AM
You want a Deadpool movie to get made? Cast someone other than Ryan Reynolds. At this point, I think he has more movies on the shelf than ready to shoot. Remember the Highlander remake?
TheRationalNerd - 5/13/2014, 10:14 AM
So now we have...

-Fantastic Four (2015)
-X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)
-The Wolverine Sequel (2017)
-Fantastic Four 2 (2017)
-Gambit (TBA)
-X-Force (TBA)
-Untitled Film
Opticblast - 5/13/2014, 10:14 AM
Bottom line -

Fox doesn't care about the characters, they only care about the pretty face that can carry a money-making franchise.

I'm suprised they haven't announced a Mystique spin-off with Jennifer Lawrence.

Get rid of Simon Kinberg, Lauren Shuler-Donner and Bryan Singer (and any leftover Tom Rothman cronies) and this franchise might have a chance.

awesome batman news, poor gambit news.

gotta take the rough with the smooth i guess
DanteSparda - 5/13/2014, 10:15 AM
I think he would do a good job, there are a lot of Tatum roles that I didn't like but as Donner says this one suits his personality, also he is a big fan of the character and I rather have a passionate actor that is a fan of the character he's playing than a great actor who don't give a damn for the character.

Also the studio has a lot of faith in him and that should be a good sign, and before anyone says a thing Fox has really got their act together with their Marvel properties after the Wolverine Origins disaster back in 2009.
TheRationalNerd - 5/13/2014, 10:15 AM
Oh.. and Deadpool (TBA)
Inhuman - 5/13/2014, 10:16 AM
It makes sense because Origins ends in 1981 and that's when Gambit parts ways with Logan. Apocalypse takes place in the mid 80s so it works perfectly to bring back gambit in apocalypse
SpiderFraud - 5/13/2014, 10:16 AM
This month is just comic book overload! All I need is that DD casting news.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 5/13/2014, 10:17 AM
I'm a huge Gambit fan and this is terrible!!! -_-
Lemons - 5/13/2014, 10:17 AM
I thought Taylor Kitsch was a highlight of that Origins film. It was just the writers that [frick]ed up.
SuperCat - 5/13/2014, 10:18 AM

sinthegreat - 5/13/2014, 10:18 AM
Fantastic 4 will flop then they will reboot again
TheRealRemyLebeau - 5/13/2014, 10:19 AM
@Inhuman with a new casted gambit it makes sense to you? O_o
