Michael Fassbender Pitched Magneto Story Ideas To Writer Simon Kinberg For X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Michael Fassbender will return to the X-Men franchise in 2016 but he has already pitched story ideas for Magneto to Simon Kinberg, the screenwriter for the film! Hit the jump and check it out.

What will we learn about Magneto?

Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Days of Future Past) has played the Mutant supervillian since 2011 starring in X-Men: First Class and will return to the role in 2016 with X-Men: Apocalypse. Interestingly, Fassbender admits that he pitched a few story ideas for a "certain strand of his story" that he wants Simon Kinberg (Fantastic Four), screenwriter of the film to explore in Apocalypse. Speaking with IGN, Fassbender had this to say.

"Yeah, I mean, I haven't got a script or anything yet, but I'm always excited to see where Simon Kinberg's going to go with the next X-Men. X-Men's been great to me and allowed me to do so much, including films like Frank. I've had a lot of fun with the cast and with the character, Magneto. So I had a good chat with Simon [Kinberg] when we were on our way to Moscow, and we tossed around some ideas on the plane over there. So I'm pretty excited to see how it all comes together.

Well, I can't really tell you [laughs], I want it to be in the next one! I've had these conversations with Simon and there's a certain strand of his story that I think is pretty interesting and would like to explore, if we could."

X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled to be released on May 27, 2016.

like that suit
Pasto - 8/11/2014, 3:38 PM
I'm sorry but I think you meant 'Fox-Men', cause THOSE aren't the 'X-Men'.
DanteSparda - 8/11/2014, 3:39 PM
Can't wait to see how his character turns out, I liked the first two X-Men movies as well as both X-Men: First Class and Days of Future Past but I have never loved a comic book movie villian as I do Fassbender's Magneto, he really steals the spotlight in both movies whenever he's in front of the camera.

Also my best guess is that Fassbender is referring to the storyline where Magneto rules the island of Genosha.
MrBlackJack - 8/11/2014, 3:39 PM
I will end you two [frick]ers.
ALegendaryPanda - 8/11/2014, 3:40 PM
This movie is going to be insane. I seriously can't wait!
DanteSparda - 8/11/2014, 3:43 PM

Agreed! Hopefully Singer will return to direct but in the worst case scenario if he can't come back then I hope Mathew Vaughn takes the reins instead.
SpiderFraud - 8/11/2014, 3:43 PM
Even though I liked DoFP, I still kinda want a reboot.

DaVinci31 - 8/11/2014, 3:49 PM
They need to take this character beyond just opposing the human race.
SmellofDuty - 8/11/2014, 3:50 PM
Fassbender is by far the best in this franchise. Not to say I enjoy the franchise over all, I did enjoy DoFP and First Class. I wish Fassbender could've been in a better Marvel franchise and not being used at Fox.
Bekss - 8/11/2014, 3:51 PM
I've always defend Fox about X-men movies but for God sake I want to see an X-men movie not another Magneto/P. X/Wolverine story
DaVinci31 - 8/11/2014, 3:52 PM
I can't wait to see Frank, though. Fassbender and Gleeson look spectacular.

DanteSparda - 8/11/2014, 3:53 PM
Aslo speaking about the specific storyline I hope the movie starts with him ruling Genosha and all the mustants in there (thanks to an agreement with the United Nations) his 3 sons are living in there as well; Pietro (Quicksilver), Wanda (Scarelt Witch) and Lorna (Polaris), that would allow them to explore Magneto's complicated relationship with his sons, as well as his son's own personal issues.
ALegendaryPanda - 8/11/2014, 3:53 PM

It seems like everything is somewhat back to normal with Singer right now, let's just hope nobody decides to accuse him of murder while they're filming Apocalypse. Lol
DangerRoom - 8/11/2014, 3:55 PM
A reboot will happen once Hugh Jackman calls it quits. And as long as they keep throwing money at him, the movies will continue.

I personally love what they're doing. DoFP, The Wolverine, and X2 are my favorite films.

DanteSparda - 8/11/2014, 4:03 PM

Hahaha I know right! That accusation is going to be followed by a conveniently timed documental film about murders in Hollywood.

I don't think they would reboot even then, as a matter of fact I think they kind of rebooted the X-Men movie universe with DOFP since they changed the timeline.
Demiurge - 8/11/2014, 4:05 PM

Oh my God :(
Marqy - 8/11/2014, 4:05 PM
Oh man, Cant wait for Apocalypse. DOFP was beyond epic.
Reasonnnn - 8/11/2014, 4:05 PM

Marqy - 8/11/2014, 4:08 PM

sKeemAn - 8/11/2014, 4:12 PM
I love Fassbender as Magneto. I still want more of an X-men film though. Vaughn where are you?

R.I.P. to one of the funniest men to ever grace the screen. Robin Williams.
ALegendaryPanda - 8/11/2014, 4:12 PM
Robin Williams is actually dead.... I can't believe this shit :(
Pasto - 8/11/2014, 4:13 PM
Feels like a nightmare.
Marqy - 8/11/2014, 4:13 PM

DanteSparda - 8/11/2014, 4:20 PM
Holy shit!! I freind just told me that Robin Williams died but I understood it was Robbie Williams, R.I.P Patch Adams... and I will just leave this here for the relief:

DCGuy - 8/11/2014, 4:20 PM
did he pitch for the costumes to be based on the comic or are they gonna keep the crap up?
V8ER - 8/11/2014, 4:21 PM
Oh crap. Robin Williams is one of my favorite comedians. That sucks. RIP.
MexicanSexyman - 8/11/2014, 4:23 PM
RIP Robin Williams. That sucks.
MrCBM56 - 8/11/2014, 4:26 PM
RIP Robin Williams. Daaamn.
GliderMan - 8/11/2014, 4:56 PM
I have faith that Fox will make good X-movies from here on out. Even though DOFP wasn't an X-Men movie and definitely not a faithful adaption, I think future will movies will make up for it.

TheRationalNerd - 8/11/2014, 5:26 PM
Ummm, if anyone doesn't want to see more of Magneto at this point I'm terribly sorry for you because the Age of Apocalyose story arc is pretty heavy with Mags as one of THEE main characters. But I agree with everyone that he doesn't need to be the villain this go around. I think they'll give it all a rest.
WeddingTux - 8/11/2014, 5:28 PM
XM:A casting scoop is almost finished. Rumors started. Secrets revealed
SuperCat - 8/11/2014, 5:46 PM
More Magneto sounds good to me. Robin Williams forever.
ThePowerCosmic - 8/11/2014, 5:52 PM
Fassbender: whatever happens in this film it should end with Magneto fighting the X-Men not Apocalypse!

Fox Execs: Sure! It worked for the last 5 movies...greenlit!
TheRationalNerd - 8/11/2014, 5:53 PM
I'd also like to see a new suit for Mags! Something that gives a nod to his Apocalypse armor would be pretty sweet. Especially if he has his long grey/white hair/beard this go around too!
