Simon Kinberg On The New X-MEN Timeline; Channing Tatum Shows Off His GAMBIT Card Skills

Asked whether Angel will be one of the Four Horsemen in X-Men: Apocalypse, writer Simon Kinberg remains coy, but does explain the ramifications of the new timeline. Channing Tatum meanwhile talks about auditioning for Gambit in costume and shows off his card throwing skills...

In the following video interview, X-Men: Apocalypse producer and writer Simon Kinberg is quizzed about Archangel being one of Apocalypse's Four Horsemen, and while he refuses to give too much away in regards to which characters they'll be using, he does explain the new timeline. As it turns out, X-Men: Days of Future Past changed things so much that some characters may have been born earlier, meaning we shouldn't put too much stock in anything which happened in the original trilogy as it's all up for grabs now! In the second interview, Channing Tatum talks about the lengths he's gone to to play Gambit in an X-Men movie, claiming to have even auditioned in costume. He then shows off his impressive card throwing skills, much to the pain of the reporter interviewing him...

why it has to be tatum??!!! -_-
Lozzy - 7/26/2014, 6:16 AM
Since X3 is no longer canon, I would be down for Angel being one of the 4 horse men.
DrunkenNukem - 7/26/2014, 6:18 AM
Tatum as really push fan´s buttons Fox...

unbelievable and unforgivable
UltimateCookie - 7/26/2014, 6:20 AM
I'm curious top see what Tatum does with the role.
SinisterMister - 7/26/2014, 6:23 AM
Tatum as Gambit makes my soul cry, he will forever be, "That magic mike douche-tard"
Newbus - 7/26/2014, 6:24 AM
It's not down to Tatum it will be what the writer(s) / director does does with the character.
SwanRonson - 7/26/2014, 6:26 AM
I love the timeline news.

Tatum is awesome in the Jump St movies so I'm giving him a chance.
grif - 7/26/2014, 6:27 AM
cant wait to see xmen six with the original cast all about 50. [frick]ing about time
DarthSandwich - 7/26/2014, 6:27 AM
I hated the idea as Tatum as gambit but the more i see of him talking about it the more i like it, he seems really into it.
DrKinsolving - 7/26/2014, 6:28 AM
ckal - 7/26/2014, 6:28 AM
I like Tatum after seeing 21 Jump Street but I do not see him as Gambit one bit.
SinisterMister - 7/26/2014, 6:28 AM
He'll probably be awesome, and I'll feel like a jackass for jumping on the hate train, but even if he kicks the bejeesus out of the role, he will still always be "That magic mike douche-tard" lol.
remembertheking - 7/26/2014, 6:28 AM
why do people always hate on actors being cast before they actually see it. STFU with your shit.
sikwon - 7/26/2014, 6:30 AM
I keep trying to unremember everything before DoFP and... it's hard. Maybe if they used some different actors for some of the characters it would be easier.
JillyMcBeam - 7/26/2014, 6:30 AM
I got trashed last night, woke up and saw this, and started drinking again.
TheDarkKnightSlap - 7/26/2014, 6:32 AM
I wish that phucking guy wouldn't have covered his face. Who asks someone to hit them in the face with anything...anything ever? Dumbass. He deserved an ace of spades to the face.
InfiniteMonkey - 7/26/2014, 6:32 AM
Can't wait till all these guys are too old to do these characters.

RE-boot with better actors.
UltimateCookie - 7/26/2014, 6:35 AM
Love how Tatum will always be 'that Magic Mike douche-tard' but forgetting the fact Magic Mike was actually a good movie.
Nubase - 7/26/2014, 6:36 AM

same can be said with the avengers cast apart from RDJ, the rest are just meh
TheRationalNerd - 7/26/2014, 6:36 AM
Ha! What was @dethpillow and I talking about JUST yesterday!?
DrKinsolving - 7/26/2014, 6:37 AM
Can't wait for Apocalypse but since X-Men 3 is no longer canon I hope we get the Phoenix Saga for real, eventually

TheRationalNerd - 7/26/2014, 6:37 AM
Tatum's gonna kill it man! :D I'm moreover happy hat he's actually interested in the role and he's willing to capture certain skills of the character! Do your thing man!
ShelfPorn - 7/26/2014, 6:40 AM
Well Archangel would be a completely badass and cool character to have, so they definitely won't be using him. The Four Horsemen they finally decide on will be Blob, Cypher, Choir, and then some character they completely make up who has the power to make burritos really fast. That's the formula they have consistently used to make these films.
DrKinsolving - 7/26/2014, 6:41 AM

I think Tatum is gonna kill it too, especially with the other A-list actors in these movies, hope we get some more news soon
WruceBayne - 7/26/2014, 6:42 AM
@remembertheking- AGREED. Let's see what he has first. If he sucks, then he SUCKS. If he doesn't suck, then it's "THE BEST [FRICK]ing X-MEN MOVIE TO DATE". PFFFTT! Fanboys.
InfiniteMonkey - 7/26/2014, 6:43 AM
It takes more than card tricks to do Gambit justice but, then again it is Tatum.

No acting skills whatsoever.
TheRationalNerd - 7/26/2014, 6:43 AM
And yeah I know people are gonna be like: "All he did was throw a card? lol" but you can tell it's something that he really wants to do moreover character wise than financial reasons.
XK1D - 7/26/2014, 6:44 AM
I'm guessing Magneto, Mystique, Gambit and Angel will be the four horsemen.
UltimateCookie - 7/26/2014, 6:44 AM
I hope Tatum kills it. I have my suspicions but I won't say whether he's good or not until I part with my money and watch the movie.
FordEl - 7/26/2014, 6:45 AM

He has the charisma and act some dramatic parts. Go watch the 2nd trailer for Foxcatcher.
InfiniteMonkey - 7/26/2014, 6:48 AM

Yeah mate, he's got that something that everyone else likes and sees.

I just don't see it. My opinion.
He's totally wrong for Gambit.
Just looking for someone with a bit more grit and less baggage.
UltimateCookie - 7/26/2014, 6:48 AM
Just curious about what the reactions will be if Tatum is actually good.
IronMountaineer - 7/26/2014, 6:52 AM
Yes, because when I think Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, I think "man, they need better actors in this franchise".....dumbasses....the acting was never the problem...

Also, I love that the timeline shift allows them to tweek things, so if that makes angel be able to appear earlier I'm fine with it, and I wouldn't mind them bringing back Ben Foster!
Bl00dwerK - 7/26/2014, 6:54 AM
So people are still against CT?
SuperCat - 7/26/2014, 6:55 AM
DrKinsolving - 7/26/2014, 6:56 AM
Wolverine better get his Adamantium back though, it was cool to show the bone claws, but Wolvie needs his Adamantium
AreTudaEDub - 7/26/2014, 6:59 AM
Norman Reedus for Gambit!!!! Tell your people to call my people and lets make it happen!👍
sameoldthing - 7/26/2014, 7:01 AM
Tatum as Gambit is just wrong. He's beefy,Remy is lean & acrobatic. Better choices out there.
He's decent in comedy action like Jump Street films but he's a very weak dramatic actor.
He's basically the male version of Jennifer Anniston..attractive but suited for comedic stuff because can't pull off the serious acting.
Magic Mike was barely watchable & his believability as an action hero in White House down was laughable,if it was a comedy..he nailed it.
sKeemAn - 7/26/2014, 7:10 AM
I still don't like Tatum as Gambit. But I have to say he is putting forth some real effort to get to know the character. I want him to do well I just have a hard time seeing it.
DrKinsolving - 7/26/2014, 7:11 AM

Just saying, not lean or acrobatic? He would obviously get in better shape for the role, and he can.... I think he can pull it off
