New Details On Young Juggernaut's Unused X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Scene

Bryan Singer originally planned to have a young Juggernaut help Magneto (Michael Fassbender) breakout of his Pentagon prison cell, but decided to go with Quicksilver (Evan Peters) instead. Hit the jump for new details about what we missed out on.

As many of you are aware, Quicksilver was not the Bryan Singer's first choice to break Magneto out of Pentagon prison cell. The original planned called for a Young Juggernaut to help out, but Singer and the rest of his team had a change of heart. Though, they were extremely close to going with Juggernaut as they had costume designs illustrated for the character and more importantly an actor cast in the part. That actor? Josh Helman, who portrayed a young William Stryker in the film, was originally set to play the role of a young Juggernaut. He even trained for four weeks, adding 30 pounds of muscle. Well, at least he ended getting a role in the film even though it wasn't the one he originally planned on. Below, are some new details about the Young Juggernaut scenes we will never get to see. We'll just have to use our imaginations.
As part of the on-going San Diego Comic-Con, earlier this afternoon X-Men: Days of Future Past writer/producer Simon Kinberg participated in a panel solely focusing on the summer blockbuster – and during the conversation he revealed exactly how young Juggernaut was used in earlier drafts of the script. According to Kinberg, the original idea was to have the character fly up in a jet with Xavier, Wolverine and Beast and hover 20,000 feet above the Pentagon. From there, Juggernaut would have leapt out of the plane and used his special abilities to blast himself through the ground and access Magneto’s prison cell. The writer added that Wolverine was going to follow Juggernaut’s path and smash every bone in his body once hitting the ground (though obviously he would use his healing powers to regenerate and survive the fall). -
The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past will be directed by Bryan Singer ("Usual Suspects"). The cast includes: Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Ian McKellen, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Lucas Till, Evan Peters, Daniel Cudmore, Booboo Stewart, Omar Sy, Fan Bingbing, Evan Jonigkeit, Adan Canto and Josh Helman, X-Men: Days Of Future Past hits UK cinemas on May 22 and US cinemas the following day.

So he was replaced by quicksilver?

GliderMan - 7/26/2014, 9:42 AM
Wish they would have used that instead of Quicksilver.
SuperCat - 7/26/2014, 9:45 AM
Glad they used Quicksilver. Wish they could have included the Juggernaut as well.
charlie2094 - 7/26/2014, 9:48 AM
Sounds interesting, but the whole Quicksilver scene worked so well, glad they used that instead.
SteamBlust - 7/26/2014, 9:48 AM
Screw this, WB panel will start in 10 minutes!
KingOnslaught - 7/26/2014, 9:51 AM
I remember reading this before on different article which had

GadoTheLion - 7/26/2014, 9:54 AM
that QS scene was pure win
WhiteSAMURAI - 7/26/2014, 9:55 AM
The Wolverine thing would have been dumb. First off, why would he put himself through that amount of pain. Second, I'm not so sure he would've been able to reheal after turning into some bloody, gory mess when hitting the ground. But look at me, complaining about logic flaws for a scene that wasn't even filmed.
DrKinsolving - 7/26/2014, 9:57 AM
He even trained for four weeks, adding 30 pounds of muscle.

ckal - 7/26/2014, 9:59 AM
That Juggernaut looks [frick]ing god damn terrible.
ManofSteel23 - 7/26/2014, 9:59 AM
Wasn't these details already posted at some point, or I might of heard it some where else I duno, but glad they didnt use juggernaut again
ckal - 7/26/2014, 10:00 AM
Gained 30 pounds of muscle in 4 weeks?

That's a fake laugh! No, IT'S REAL!
WinterSoldier33 - 7/26/2014, 10:03 AM
That would have been awesome
Gigacrusher45 - 7/26/2014, 10:03 AM
Glad they changed it cause we already saw Juggernaut smashing through walls in The Last Stand so it's nothing new. Plus it's similar to Colossus' dive later in the film, which I'd rather see Colossus do then Juggernaut. Quicksilver was much better.
CaptShipwreck - 7/26/2014, 10:04 AM
This old as shit
CherryBomb - 7/26/2014, 10:05 AM
Quicksilver scene was awesome.
Juggernaut would've not looked as cool visually.

Just wish that Scarlet Witch was in that scene too :(
GiantNerd - 7/26/2014, 10:06 AM
The cinematic X Men designs are absolute garbage.

Great movie though.
joppida - 7/26/2014, 10:06 AM
Juggernaut isn't a mutant
KnobGoblin - 7/26/2014, 10:09 AM
Except, Juggernaut is unstoppable once in motion. So, wouldn't he bust right through the Earth's crust into the molten core, and possibly out the other-side?
GEEKSINCE74 - 7/26/2014, 10:14 AM
Thank you,finally....somebody knows that Juggernaut is not a mutant. Marvel wiki that Sh%t! They screwed him up the first time, and would have done it again.
shaunmagg - 7/26/2014, 10:14 AM
"He even trained for four weeks, adding 30 pounds of muscle" Yeah no.
Quexul - 7/26/2014, 10:15 AM
They just wanted to plant a flag on the character once they realized QS was going to be in AoU.
Dinotron - 7/26/2014, 10:17 AM
Hmm so Juggernaut was originally meant to be in Quicksilvers place...

I wonder why they switched to Quicksilver (looks back in history...)

Joss Whedon announces Quicksilver will be an Avenger...

Couple days later Singer announces Quicksilver would be in DOFP...

Wait a min...
Ryguy88 - 7/26/2014, 10:20 AM
Thats sounds awesome! Maybe they can save it, or something similar, for the sequel.
Ryguy88 - 7/26/2014, 10:21 AM
Dinotron, or maybe Singer came up with a really cool way for Quicksilver to bust Magneto out instead, which it was. But your conspiracy theory works too.
WalkinTANK - 7/26/2014, 10:25 AM
Anyone else call bullshit on 30 pounds of muscle in 4 weeks?
Luther - 7/26/2014, 10:27 AM
Yannow dropping Juggernaut from a plane to crash into something, gives him the excuse to don his signature dome helmet, at least for that scene. Treated as a weighted bullet. It'll then be practical. AND pleasing to the fanboys. Maybe they can include that in a future installment.
ProfessorX - 7/26/2014, 10:36 AM
This was posted before.
shaunmagg - 7/26/2014, 10:54 AM
@walkintank Theres noway.
Azazel1 - 7/26/2014, 10:57 AM
One of the best CBM scenes ever!
Odin - 7/26/2014, 10:58 AM
I prefer Quicksiver version.
AC1 - 7/26/2014, 11:16 AM
Quicksilver replacing Juggernaut was an incredibly clever move, not only because it looked better but because it made the breakout more of a sequence of events in the film, rather than a quick, passing moment. I just wish they'd done a bit more with the character, not only did his power look great but Evan Peters played him really well, so it was a shame that he only really appeared as a plot-device in that one scene (albeit with a brief appearance later in the film, and some character building beforehand). He could have easily contributed to the finale.

Looking forward to seeing him in the sequel - if someone would've told me a few months ago that Quicksilver would be a highlight in the movie, and that the movie itself would've been as brilliant as it was, I never would have believed them.

Quicksilver in DOFP is overrated.

Darth258 - 7/26/2014, 1:18 PM
Flash news: Juggernaut isn't a mutant.
Darth258 - 7/26/2014, 1:20 PM
I'm glad they used Quicksilver.
Alfredo27 - 7/26/2014, 1:23 PM
Ultimate Juggernaut is a mutant geniuses. So its ok for Marvel/Disney to almost be exclusively based on ultimate universe but if Fox doesnt follow the Cartoons (yall dont read comics) you get snarky. News flash over.
Darth258 - 7/26/2014, 1:34 PM

Ultimate Juggernaut was in Weapon X originally, so the mutations might have been induced (not mentioning the ultimate mutants were created and aren't an actual evoultion of the species) and later he got the gem of Cyttorak anyways.
