SPOILERS: Early Draft Details From X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Revealed

<font color="RED"><b>SPOILERS:</b></font> Early Draft Details From X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Revealed

Hit the jump for Drew McWeeny's thoughts on the mixed reception that X-Men: Days Of Future Past is getting after our first look at the characters, along with story details. ATTENTION: There will be spoilers from the film, you've been warned.

Long before there ever was an El Mayimbe, AICN's Moriarty was the king of movie scoops. "Moriarty" is the pseudonym of Drew McWeeny, a film critic and screen writer that know runs HitFix, a website quite known among the geek crowd.

After the Empire magazine's reveal of the 25 covers featuring X-Men: Days of Future Past characters, Drew McWeeny shared his thoughts on the mixed reception over the look of the new film and even goes in depth over some very spoilerific information from the film, since he actually has read an early draft of it. So without further ado, here's what McWeeny has to say about the film and some of the characters in it. To read the full coverage, make sure to click in the link below, since it's a very informative and well put together article:

McWeeny also says that "Fox is hoping that Singer's mutant power is the ability to step back into the franchise that he was chased off of before he finished telling the story he set out to tell with "X-Men" and "X2."". He concludes saying that "Singer could use the hit, and I'd argue he needs "X-Men" more than "X-Men" needs him at this point".

I personally think that everything about this film screams disaster in the making, and I haven't been this embarassed with how a film looks since Batman & Robin. I won't write this film off just yet, but something tells me that maybe the Apocalypse for Bryan Singer's X-Men can be coming sooner than he anticipated, and not in the way he envisioned. I'm quite sure that Bryan Singer knows what prejudice is. But he simply can't seem to understand the grasp of diversity, or just uses the X-Men as a channel for his own personal beliefs and interests. The X-Men are bigger than Singer's allegory. The X-Men are about everyone, and how the minorities are important and valueable for the whole, regardless of their sexuality, creed or skin color.

Singer has been involved with X-Men since 1996. It's almost twenty years now, and while I'm forever in debt for what he did back in X-Men and X2, a big part of me thinks that both the X-Men and Bryan Singer would be better off going their own separate routes. I'm not saying that I'm writing this film off without having seeing it, and I'm not one for judging a book for its cover, and while I do think the film looks oddly cheap and afraid of its comic book roots, I'm giving Bryan Singer the benefit of the doubt and a chance to wow me one last time. But if he fails to deliver, maybe it's time for the X-Men to get a reboot and go back to the start, with a talented director that is at the same time really passionate over the X-Men mythology. I'm sure it won't be that hard to find.

I'm curious, how big is the budget for this movie?
Pasto - 1/29/2014, 6:09 AM

$2,000,000 it seems.
QuestiontheAnswer - 1/29/2014, 6:09 AM
200mil +
P862010 - 1/29/2014, 6:09 AM
could you be anymore of a hater

Superzero - 1/29/2014, 6:11 AM
Scoop? Scoop? Spoilers? What scoop? What spoilers? These are copy and paste paragraphs about a guy talking about PICTURES IN A MAGAZINE!

Are you honestly going to compare this movie to Batman & Robin?? Really? You take one look at the trailer for Batman & Robin and yoU can IMMEDIATELY tell that it looks like crap from the get go. At least Days has a trailer that looks good enough to make me want to buy a ticket and see the rest of the movie. Sorry Zauri nothing here.

Also, this has been posted already on this site. I've read it already, why are we re-posting it?
SuperCat - 1/29/2014, 6:17 AM
God, Quicksilver just looks ridiculous. The worst costume design out of the bunch.
QuestiontheAnswer - 1/29/2014, 6:21 AM
This looks better than TASM 2 so is that Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
JJJameson - 1/29/2014, 6:21 AM

It was posted on the comment session, by me. I was expecting someone to make an article of it, nobody did, so I did. I think it's relevant information, this is more informative than those ComicBookResources rumors that were posted here yesterday. This comes from one of the most reliable sources there is in the biz, so I thought it'd make a good article.

I never said that this is a scoop. This is an article, based on Drew McWeeny's scoop. What is a scoop to begin with? Something exclusive, something it wasn't talked about yet regarding a subject. Drew McWeeny has read an early draft of DoFP and commented on the covers yesterday. Feel free to review my article as you wish.
SKOne - 1/29/2014, 6:21 AM
It was a bit hard for me to read his complaints. I think that the X-Men movies have been really good so far considering they started in 2000. Even The Last Stand and X-Men Origins are enjoyable to watch on a slow, boring afternoon. I think Days of Future past looks great so far, I just wonder how much longer we will have to wait to see a traditional Sentinel or Wolverine's comic costume on him (even though I really like the future costume he has). I honestly feel that this guy just has a really negative attitude about the whole thing and that maybe he should spend his time writing about other things.
GetsugaTensho22 - 1/29/2014, 6:25 AM

This Douchebag just basically spent the entire article moaning and whining about the fact that we didn't get super colourful comic accurate costumes, but then goes against that when it comes to Quicksilver.
[frick]ing whiney ass fanboy.

"I personally think that everything about this film screams disaster in the making, and I haven't been this embarassed with how a film looks since Batman & Robin"

VISIONaryNPa - 1/29/2014, 6:26 AM
@Zauri ok ok, that's where I saw it. Makes sense.
QuestiontheAnswer - 1/29/2014, 6:26 AM
I want GAMBIT!
GetsugaTensho22 - 1/29/2014, 6:28 AM
Those comments about Storm and Wolverine and especially Warpath are so annoying. Why the [frick] is he uncomfortable with Warpath's look? Why is he moaning about Wolverine even though whatever he's wearing is actually kind of similar-ish to his X-force costume? And Storm looks like Storm enough.

I just don't understand fanboys.
GetsugaTensho22 - 1/29/2014, 6:30 AM
Also, I forgot to include this in, but i was talking entirely about this Drew McWeeny fellow.

Now Zauri, you should really learn from criticism. You SHOULD stop editorializing your news articles. I mean, nobody needs to know what you think. Just report the news and that's it.

"...something tells me that maybe the Apocalypse for Bryan Singer's X-Men can be coming sooner than he anticipated, and not in the way he envisioned."

*Rim shot*
Superzero - 1/29/2014, 6:37 AM
What I'm saying Zauri is that if you headline an article with the word SPOILERS, generally in said article there are spoilers. What's the spoiler? There really is nothing here that hasn't been everywhere else. You label the article as containing spoilers but instead you just copy and paste in a bunch of someone else's writings. This is the ONLY part of the article where he says ANYTHING about the script: "I'm also well aware that I read an early draft and that I've had some big problems with the last few films Singer has made." Point is don't write an "article" that claims to have spoilers or script information but really has none ofd those things at all. Or just change the title.
Nick56 - 1/29/2014, 6:37 AM
I don't really see these as spoilers, rather some angry fanboy complaining.
Dmon - 1/29/2014, 6:40 AM
This movie will be shit and I predict, going of the history and decline of this franchise, will only make $400-450 million.
SuperCat - 1/29/2014, 6:48 AM
Guys, I think the comment about the future Sentinels being the version seen first on screen could be considered a "spoiler." In my opinion, not a major one. But I could see some folks getting upset reading that and not being warned in advanced.
dellamorte1872 - 1/29/2014, 6:49 AM
I completely agree with this "whiny fanboy" as y'all call him. He articulated his points and I for one agree with him. None of these images instill confidence in me if anything it's the complete opposite. Every thing I hear makes this film seem worse and worse. I'm boycotting this film bc I can't stand SINGER, I'm not asking people to follow suit but if you don't like what your seeing don't show the XMEN films blind faith and see them anyway HOPING to be swayed. That's just immaturity. I agree with this author 100%
MexicanSexyman - 1/29/2014, 6:51 AM
I see you deleted my comment. I guess that I really hurt your feelings. Haha.

i think i liked about eight of those covers, not good really out of twenty five.

as for the movie,i wasn't sold by it with the first trailer maybe the second will change my mind.
dellamorte1872 - 1/29/2014, 6:56 AM
@soto - and you have to single me out why? You're definitely an immature baby crying like you have a skinned knee. No one was addressing you so first off shut up, don't address me. Second I don't go to movies showing blind faith I "suspend my disbelief" like your supposed to but if I don't like things about the film pictures or etc. I don't want to go I reject stupid shit like you and your bullshit.

XelCorp - 1/29/2014, 6:58 AM
Someone wanna explain why Singer gets so much hate for the X-men films? I hear everyone/most people saying that X1 and X2 are their favs and Singer made those but you guys hate him? He didn't make the disaster we all know as last stand.. So why do so many people hate him? BESIDES the costume designs.
dellamorte1872 - 1/29/2014, 7:00 AM
Bc he jumped ship to Super,an bc that was his REAL passion. He showed his true colors by doing that @MARVEL
dellamorte1872 - 1/29/2014, 7:00 AM
Superman ^
McNyagano - 1/29/2014, 7:00 AM
"Someone wanna explain why Singer gets so much hate for the X-men films?"

Go read the X-Men comics if you want to understand why Singer gets so much hate.
dellamorte1872 - 1/29/2014, 7:03 AM
That's with everything tho that's stupid. You show blind faith leaving your house in the morning. Cause y'know a car could hit me. You can't form a proper argument. You don't even know how to articulate yourself apparently.
dellamorte1872 - 1/29/2014, 7:05 AM
If compare it more to GHOST RIDER 2 SOV than B+R but this film does appear to be on that kinda level
dellamorte1872 - 1/29/2014, 7:05 AM
I'd ^
MexicanSexyman - 1/29/2014, 7:06 AM
@SotoJuiceMan, wait what? I like all the X-Men films and TASM.
dellamorte1872 - 1/29/2014, 7:20 AM
Bc those involved TRYED in vain mind you to make the sequel better than the first outing. They put a lot of effort into getting fans to fall in love with the franchise. But it still didn't work. That's how I'd compare them
dellamorte1872 - 1/29/2014, 7:22 AM
But an even better comparison would be SUPERMAN RETURNS bc SINGER did EXACTLY what he wanted and it was a disaster
MexicanSexyman - 1/29/2014, 7:23 AM
@SotoJuiceMan, haha ok. Zauri is a dumbass.
