Last update that we had on the film was a month ago when 20th Century Fox's CEO Tom Rothman at Las Vegas' CinemaCon said that part of The Wolverine would be filmed in Japan. More specifically location work would take place in Japan and studio work in Australia.

Plot - Logan beginning a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage is, unfortunately, promised to another man. Since Logan won’t take “no” for an answer, it puts him into battle with her father and her samurai-sword-wielding brothers and Silver Samurai.

The Wolverine will be directed by James Mangold (Knight and Day), the script has been written by Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects). Hugh Jackman will of course be back in the lead role of Logan/Wolverine, and the film will claw into theaters July 26, 2013.

Hoping it turns out good and not a piece of shit, like the previous film. Sure as hell not getting my hopes up.
shiverman20 - 5/21/2012, 1:27 AM
I'm so tired of Jackman's Wolverine. The X-universe is the one series I'd happily take a reboot with
Unas - 5/21/2012, 1:31 AM
Dammit Fox! Just sell the right to Marvel Studios do they can get it right! I love Hugh Jackman, but I feel he needs a new agent, he get put into such shitty films. He's a good actor IMHO, just bad luck recently. Real Steel was OK.
Unas - 5/21/2012, 1:32 AM
I think Jackman would have made a great Punisher.
Unas - 5/21/2012, 1:34 AM
Fox is garbage. They should sell all of their CBM rights to Marvel Studios so they won't handicap the genre anymore.

steelo - 5/21/2012, 1:43 AM
I've been waiting 25 years for this movie. It sounds like they are going straight from the first Wolverine limited series. It should be awesome!
superdupont - 5/21/2012, 2:02 AM
is there really someone in the world, exited by an "xmen origin wolverine" sequel ? °_°
Nightmare7 - 5/21/2012, 2:04 AM
Well I hope this time there filming More of a "Marvels The Wolverine" than a X-Men Borgins 2!!
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 5/21/2012, 2:23 AM
Give me the Miller Japanese story, Lady DeathStrike being the love interest, etc. And of course a Hakama Kimono and this costume.

Wolverine #2 - "I'm The Best"

rondz123 - 5/21/2012, 2:40 AM
Give it up Hugh, lets just get this over with, you played this charecter for 12 years and still havnt got it right.
NeoBaggins - 5/21/2012, 2:52 AM
Why do I get the feeling They're going to [frick] up Silver Samurai.
ninjaturtle11 - 5/21/2012, 2:59 AM

DEATHbyEXILE - 5/21/2012, 3:35 AM
@Darren Aronofsky
KingEmperor - 5/21/2012, 3:35 AM
I'm actually excited for this coz I'm a huge James Mangold fan.
CPBuff22 - 5/21/2012, 3:36 AM
Lets hope all these other studios learned something from the AVENGERS.
spiralblitze - 5/21/2012, 3:48 AM
dear god, if you really exist you will put a stop to this
amen!
danyu - 5/21/2012, 4:00 AM
I've always thought the X-Men movies could've been better even though I found them enjoyable.

But I think Hugh Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine is terrific. I can't wait for this movie. I think it's going to have low appeal initially but that people are going to come to love this film when it hits screens.
ckal - 5/21/2012, 4:16 AM
Damn. This movie should not be made.

I wish fox would just lay it down, let the rights revert back to marvel, and let wolverine rest for 5 years.

I've never been a fan of hugh jackman's wolverine and we need someone new. It's not all his fault surely, he's been hampered by shitty writing and idiots for years now.

Somewhat related subject... I thought xmfc was good, but not all that great. By far the best parts were Xavier, magneto, and Kevin bacon. Everything else was throw away.
ScRipt69 - 5/21/2012, 4:20 AM
Yes....more Wolverine screen time, at last. Out of the thousand x-men universe characters how does this single minded, brooding dog get so much screen love.
CherryBomb - 5/21/2012, 4:33 AM
Yuriko best be in it.
Vence - 5/21/2012, 4:33 AM
I still want an X-Men 4!
kairanga - 5/21/2012, 4:43 AM
im new please i need boobs!
PirateOpossum - 5/21/2012, 4:56 AM
We need a real Wolverine movie. Rated R for gore, and violence, and stay close to the source material... and dammit.. we need the mask.
samster10001 - 5/21/2012, 4:59 AM
First class is way overrated. None of the xmen movies have been that good so far and origins was a [frick]in tragedy so I'm hoping this one will be good.
breakUbatman - 5/21/2012, 5:07 AM
Hey you, Jackman
Ha1frican - 5/21/2012, 5:37 AM
I was really hoping this would fall through...
HavocPrime - 5/21/2012, 5:37 AM
Lol Fox will never sell, or give the rights back to Marvel, especially since the Avengers has proven that the superhero film is not dead, but also a massive money maker.

They would not sell 3 popular comic franchises just to watch another studio profit from them when they can do it themselves, you will have to pry Daredevil, the X-Men, and the Fantastic four from their cold dead hands before they go anywhere.
kevberg - 5/21/2012, 5:38 AM
IM HAPPY....sorta.

Hugh has NEVER been the problem per se. Hes been great, he actually is dedicated to teh character...works his ass off and out for the character. BUT as PRODUCER now.. he s gotta bring the story.

This has gotta be the absolute best he can do to make up for some flaws in the last one.
marvel72 - 5/21/2012, 5:41 AM
fingers crossed it turns out better than all of the cbm's adapted by fox.
ckal - 5/21/2012, 5:50 AM
Havocprime-

Lol at you because if fox keep making shitty CBMs that don't perform at the box office they could care less and let the properties go. The x men are not the avengers either btw.
CrowPirate1 - 5/21/2012, 5:55 AM
he can't beat his cameo in the Origins movie.

he should walk away from the role now.
AlexDeLarge87 - 5/21/2012, 5:59 AM
Better invest to the story more. And give it the right dark attitude it deserves.
If you´re not gonna do those things its gonna be a fail... AGAIN!
AlexDeLarge87 - 5/21/2012, 6:04 AM
Take inspiration from movies like 13 Asssassins and Last Samurai.
JamesClement - 5/21/2012, 6:20 AM
I'm cautiously optomistic. I love Hugh Jackman but even so maybe he should hang it up after this one.
astromerc - 5/21/2012, 6:22 AM
@samster10001

Couldn't said it better.

MARVEL MADE or DON'T MAKE AT ALL!!!!
KeithM - 5/21/2012, 6:26 AM
Am I excited? Hmm. Open-minded, interested, but wary. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice and you can go [frick] yourselves.
KeithM - 5/21/2012, 6:28 AM
I will be checking reviews carefully and if they don't say "THIS is the Wolverine movie we've all been waiting for!" then I won't be parting with any cash, period.
OrganizedChaos - 5/21/2012, 6:30 AM
Hugh Jackson probably meant that filming will start August 2088
Odin - 5/21/2012, 6:32 AM
Just make it already!!!
KeithM - 5/21/2012, 6:47 AM
@Owlman: Heh, funny. But to actually answer that seriously, nah - bootlegs are shit. For me it's the cinema and then buying the BluRay if it's really good, and if it's not it'll be case of "Not bothered, will give it a miss". :)

I still haven't seen Ghost Rider 2 for example. Not bothered. Have no interest in wasting time or money on a movie I probably won't enjoy. If I come across it in the meantime, I'll give it look, but not bothered if I never see it tbh. Same with Catwoman. Nothing I've ever read about it has ever tempted me even to try downloading it. Shit is shit and just being 'super/comicbook' is not enough. Once upon a time maybe, but shit's gotta be good nowadays or GTFO. Agreed?

You get that Studios? Bar's been raised bitches. We ain't your suckas no more! ;)
KeithM - 5/21/2012, 6:52 AM
@Pux: Let me break this to you - You're way too condescending and sure of yourself to be as smart as you think you are.

You're probably right, but even Feige has said "you never know", so a little less certainty please. :)
MadTitan - 5/21/2012, 7:00 AM
not impressed at all with the previous X-titles adaptation into the big screen and i ain't even interested anymore more so with this sequel.

perhaps all it needed is a deep overhaul!

i confirm @breakUbatman

JohnWilbanks - 5/21/2012, 7:10 AM
I am really NOT looking forward to this. Time for a reboot with someone more appropriate playing the title character...
shadearts - 5/21/2012, 7:17 AM
I thought in order for fox to keep these characters they have to make a movie of each one in 3 to 4 years well shouldn't DD and FF be back with marvel by now a lot of time has past poor Xmen is the one trapped and as for that remark that The Xmen isn't the The Avengers the Xmen once dominated the comic book industry in sales it has the potential to surpass the Avengers if done right
jimoakley666 - 5/21/2012, 7:21 AM
Ace. Can't wait to see what they do after First Class.
ACira - 5/21/2012, 7:26 AM
I really hope this one is good, but maybe this should be Hugh's last outing with the claws, then maybe Fox should retcon First Class into a reboot for the series. They never specifically state Hugh plays Wolverine in First Class, it can easily be disguised as a cameo where he plays some random pissed off mutant as a reference to being Wolverine.

I would be more than happy to see X-Men go back to Marvel if their casting wasn't so damn fantastic (specifically in First Class although it was very good in X-Men 1 and 2 as well, plus Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth), if there was a way where Marvel could reaquire X-Men while retaining the key actors from First Class, such as McAvoy, Fassbender, Byrne, maybe Lawrence, etc, in their roles, and eventually progress the storyline to the modern era MCU, it'd be really special, because those actors really owned those roles (especially Fassbender as Magneto, one of my favourite CBM portrayals of all time and the reason I think Fassbender is brilliant).

But yeah, back to the point. I found Mangold's 3:10 To Yuma very enjoyable, it was dramatic, intense, exciting and intimate in all the right places and it really felt like I'd been transported back in time while watching it, so I'm hoping he works the same magic in The Wolverine and really makes me believe the setting as Japan in whatever time period they choose (unlike X-Men Origins; I wouldn't have guessed that was the late 70s if it weren't for the end battle on Three Mile Island).
ImnotDaredevil - 5/21/2012, 7:32 AM
Welcome aboard @ kairanga! I said they'd look after you in the boob department! I'd have sent you a pic but I haven't sussed it out yet. Hoo hoo hoo ' boobs'.
CharlesTheIncredible - 5/21/2012, 7:33 AM
Expectations are really low for this movie. Absolutely will not see it in theaters. I kinda hope fox's cbms keep performing poorly so theyd have incentive to just let them revert back to marvel. I know its gonna be a long time before marvel has all of the properties back but look at it this way, 4 years ago we got the first 2 avengers set up films in iron man and incredible hulk...4 years has gone by pretty quickly.
