Ellen Page on X-Men: First Class: "I don't even know what it is."

The actress, who played Kitty Pryde in X-Men 3, hasn't been approached for any future mutant movies!
This from MTV's Splash Page:

MTV News caught up with Ellen Page during a press event for Whip It to ask her whether she'll reprise her role in any of the upcoming X-Men films—like, for instance, X-Men: First Class.

"I don't even know what it is, so I couldn't tell you," said Page.

However, she did confess an affection for the character, "I think Kitty Pryde's rad, so who knows what will happen," she said. "I have no idea, though."

The actress was quick to add that her response should be taken at face value. She really hasn't heard anything, "I'm not saying that as Internet innuendo," she laughed. "There's truly nothing happening."

Isn't 1st class about the beginning of the xmen, w/ cyclops and jean as kids? Wouldn't Kitty be, oh IDK, a fetus??
antz1104 - 9/25/2009, 1:43 PM
i just hope gambit is in the next movie sorry but someone needs to mess with cajun or try.lol

gambitfreak - 9/25/2009, 1:45 PM
Wow, this made the front page quick! :)

I think she's telling the truth. Though i think it'd be unfair to critisize her for not knowing what 'First Class' is - im a big Marvel comic book fan and even i never read that series, lol! Im not actually a huge fan of Page's. I would muchprefer to see...

Olivia Wilde for Shadowcat!!!

Kitty Pryde2
JoshW - 9/25/2009, 1:48 PM
yer kitty shudnt be in it it shud b the first mutants prof x thought an we all no who they were but im sure fox will add alode off mutants that wernt in it at all
Roscoe182 - 9/25/2009, 2:06 PM
lol..
InFamouslyCool - 9/25/2009, 2:14 PM
I don't think Kitty is all that necessary. She's a fine character, but I don't think she should be in First Class.

The only X-Men who should be in this movie (excluding any cameos they put in, cameos are fine with me) are:

Professor X
Cyclops
Jean Grey
Beast
Ice-Man
Angel
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/25/2009, 2:15 PM
joshw24 - Please don't bother! That series is ret-conned garbage! Just like since the early 90s when Marvel had Wolvie EVERYWHERE they are now trying to mislead younger readers into believing that the X-Men were regularly a part of the larger Marvel universe, which is not true! Ugh! More continuity headaches...

And what are those costumes about? Lies, I tell you, all lies! X-Men:The Hidden Years is a much better series with a similar premise, but it covers a lost period in the team's history as opposed to amending or contradicting established fact. John Byrne does it again!
JonF - 9/25/2009, 2:16 PM
OLIVIA WILDE AND OLIVIA MUNN AS MY PILLOWS.
GUNSMITH - 9/25/2009, 2:16 PM
lmao @ gun
Roscoe182 - 9/25/2009, 2:21 PM
Tyler@ both iceman and angel would barely be a gleam in thier dads sperm during 1st class. They cannot be in it.
superdog - 9/25/2009, 2:24 PM
TYLER: I agree completely - however we all know Fox will [frick] it up somehow and throw in a pile of characters that shouldnt be there! :(

JonF: Thanks for the tip - iwas planning on picking up the series at some point in the future but ill have second thoughts now! :)

GUNSMITH: LMAO! :D
JoshW - 9/25/2009, 2:26 PM
superdog - If that isn't the roster, then they shouldn't bother making it!
JonF - 9/25/2009, 2:32 PM
@ jonf i completely agree man

@ superdog ... but they were in the first comics with the x-men
Roscoe182 - 9/25/2009, 2:34 PM
If handled by the right director who is able to balance it out between the relatively small team of First Class, why not have Ice-Man and Angel? Both are great characters.

Josh: Good point about Fox :)
If there is any franchise I want to see back in Marvel's hands, X-Men would probably be it, though Fantastic Four is a close second.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/25/2009, 2:35 PM
TYLER: yeah, i have to agree with both of those (seeing as they're the two Fox have screwed up most IMO!) As much as i enjoyed seeing characters like Gambit in Origins, its completely screwed up the continuity of the films! First Class should either be the beginning of a new franchise and forget the screw ups previously made with characters like Iceman and Angel!
JoshW - 9/25/2009, 2:46 PM
Yep, they should start a new continuity with First Class, and establish it as a fresh, new beginning for the X-franchise, free from the previous X-continuity.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/25/2009, 2:53 PM
Having her be in First Class sounds a little... impossible.

I mean, she was HOW old in X-3? I doubt she could contribute much to the movie as a toddler, unless if we get some funny scene where she's playing with shape blocks and phases the square block through the circle opening.

But yeah, I don't think she could be in it.

I DO however think that this would be a great opportunity to include a bunch of the characters that were in the holding cells in Wolverine Origins. I mean how great would it be to finally have Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch?!!?
MovieTheaterLad - 9/25/2009, 2:53 PM
MovieTheaterLad -Don't see how that's possible as mutants' powers don't manifest until puberty.
JonF - 9/25/2009, 2:55 PM
if mutants powers dont manifest until puberty, then what was up with the start of Wolverine?
samd577 - 9/25/2009, 3:01 PM
@ samd say thanx to fox 4 that awesome idea.... twats
Roscoe182 - 9/25/2009, 3:04 PM
Fox didn't come up with the idea of Wolvie showing his powers at a very young age. The Origins comic series came up with that.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/25/2009, 3:09 PM
my bad ... fox are still twats tho i stand by that
Roscoe182 - 9/25/2009, 3:10 PM
Roscoe182: You're right about that!

I appreciate that they're two seperate divisios of FOX but i really dont understand how they make great TV shows like Bones, House and 24 but make flop films like Elektra and Fantastic Four! (yes, i know taht they did well financially but they were both crap)
JoshW - 9/25/2009, 3:17 PM
I can answer why Fox Channel makes good shows, but Fox movies suck. There is one thing Fox TV has that Fox Movie Studios dont: Tom Rothman!

InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/25/2009, 3:48 PM

Roscoe182 - 9/25/2009, 4:42 PM

Roscoe182 - 9/25/2009, 5:05 PM
Roscoe182: You hated Bones as well!?! Its one of my favourite TV shows! Still, we all have our own tastes i guess!

Hey, as anyone else seen the latest episode of Supernatural? Man, that stuff with Castiel was hilarious! That guy should play Daredevil without a doubt!
JoshW - 9/25/2009, 5:06 PM
indeed josh il be honest im sure its good if u watched it from season 1 i didnt so that cud b why but if it helps i dnt really like csi either how many times do we need a flash back in to a body as it gets stabed
Roscoe182 - 9/25/2009, 5:11 PM
whats supernatural like iv never had chance 2 watch it
Roscoe182 - 9/25/2009, 5:13 PM
@roscoe, the simpsons is a rare gem indeed in the mediocre shows of fox.

btw, supernatural is a great show, you should definitely see it
supermarioworldE - 9/25/2009, 5:33 PM
ok i shall give it a watch later after smallville me thinks
Roscoe182 - 9/25/2009, 5:39 PM
Roscoe182: Supernatural is amazing! Id advise watching it from Season 1 though - it has an ongoing storyline thats worked its way right up until now in the th and its far more rewarding to have watched it from the start! (like Bones i guess!)
JoshW - 9/25/2009, 6:09 PM
Supernatural is an excellent show. It is extremely well-written, and also well acted too. I would recommend watching from Season 1 to the end, it vastly improves every season they do, and the first season was good, and they only got better.

I'm really pissed I've missed the first 3 eps. of Season 5. I just haven't had the time to remember to watch them!
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/25/2009, 6:44 PM
TYLER: man, you have to watch those ASAP! the stuff with Castiel and Dean in the third episode is priceless (and further proof Collins should be Daredevil IMO!)
JoshW - 9/25/2009, 7:06 PM
Hehe, I'm trying to watch them online, but it's tough to find reliable videos. I saw a tiny part of the beginning of the first episode, but I wasn't able to watch any more.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/25/2009, 7:14 PM
First class takes place before X-men and she's a youngster in that, in First Class, she'd be 4 years old...
rkeyes - 9/25/2009, 7:48 PM
@ josh ok il download season 1 then but if it suck il use my super powers 2 hunt you down

my super power is the power to sleep so im don't think you have anything 2 worry about
Roscoe182 - 9/25/2009, 7:49 PM
I think Ellen Page was the only good thing about X3... She was perfectly cast for the role!
SoratheKey - 9/25/2009, 10:03 PM
I thought Paige did such a fine job as Kitty. But I don't think she should be in First Class at all
DarthMulder - 9/25/2009, 10:32 PM
I don't like feminists. Crazy bitches they are.
Smolo - 9/25/2009, 10:42 PM
I like Bones, certainly prefer it to CSI at this point, but it ain't no House. Haven't seen Supernatural, but if you guys say it's that great I might have to check it out.

Fox press release Sept, 26 2009:

Several characters appearing in the new Xmen: New Moon (working title First Class) spin off will include:

Kitty Pride: who has the mutant powers of walking through walls and can now also walk through extradimensional spacetime.

Archangel: who aside from his angel-like wings and ability to fly, is able to now create wormholes by flying faster than the speed of light therefore traveling time.

and

Iceman: who, aside from the manipulation ice, was able to freeze himself as a sperm until a new human technology transported him back through time to be fertilized into a surrogate mother.

lol... I wouldn't put ANYTHING past them at this point.

Ellen Page is fine, but I think she's a bit overrated. Very talented with dialogue. Definitely more natural talent than Megan Fox.
48and2 - 9/25/2009, 10:49 PM
Bones and Csi are crap.....i hate all these bloody csi tv shows on all the time.....i bet its CSI Hawaii next :(
teabag - 9/26/2009, 4:32 AM
Yeah, not a fan of police procedural shows at all. I mean how many things can happen? Every week they gather evidence and try to catch a killer..thats pretty much it. I prefer episodic stuff like Lost or True Blood.

Page is a good actress and something of a cutey, but I never cared for Shadowcat in any form..I do like Lockheed though!
RorMachine - 9/26/2009, 6:52 AM
@ ror

lockheed is awesome!!!

but of course she wasn't approached to do first class. she's VERY young in all the x-movies and clearly wasn't part of the first class. she's not even an full blown xman until X3, lol.
CorndogBurglar - 9/26/2009, 7:26 AM
Ellen Page is delicious.
gtrman - 9/26/2009, 9:40 AM
Tyler@ Professor X
Cyclops
Jean Grey
Beast
Ice-Man
Angel
Dude your absolutely correct with those characters. They were the very 1st X-men so if your gonna do a story about the beginning of X-men logically thats where they should start.
ColdStone - 9/26/2009, 10:29 AM
Im not a fan of police procedural shows like CSI or Cold Case but Bones is pretty unique IMO! Still, 48and2 is right - its no House! (but what is?) Anyone else see the first episode of Season 6? Man, Hugh Laurie has gotta play Reed Richards!!
JoshW - 9/26/2009, 10:30 AM
I watched a couple of episodes of House once.....i remember as soon as i saw Billy from neighbours turning it off tho ..lol :P
teabag - 9/26/2009, 11:38 AM
Hey Gambitfreak I'm guessing you didn't see Xmen Origins: Wolverine, Gambit is in it and gets in a bit of a tussle with Wolverine, though I have to say I'm quite disappointed in the actor they picked to portray Gambit, he's just not quite right for the role I think. I'm used to seeing Gambit portrayed with a thick accent and being rather tall and lanky (remember he was a member of a thieves guild at one time and a relatively skinny actor just somehow seems more fitting for a role like that instead of someone with a more normal build).
Aeronya - 9/27/2009, 5:41 AM
One things for sure, if they do make a First Class movie there is no way they will let Roman Polanski near a bunch of teens ..lol :P
teabag - 9/27/2009, 8:24 AM
@ tea LOL

@ coldstone

"logically", yes those are the characters they SHOULD use if they do a movie about the first class of x-men. its just too bad that the previous X-movies took the story in such an "illogical" direction, that your lineup is an impossibility in any future x-movies. which is why this needs to be rebooted.
CorndogBurglar - 9/27/2009, 9:32 AM
@ gambitfreak

i thought gambit was done horribly in the wolvie movie. what was up with him being able to jump so high? and pound his broken staff into a wall and climb the side of a building with them?? and doing the helicopter twirl with his staff to slow his fall?? that shit was weak, lol. sorry, i love gambit as a character, but he was done really bad in orings.
CorndogBurglar - 9/27/2009, 9:37 AM
CorndogBurglar - It's called taking creative license:since Fox owns the film rights to a given character, they can take liberties to increase entertainment value without the owners of the property having any say. I thought it was sweet that they gave him extra abilities; those were great action sequences and it didn't take anything away from Gambit, so I'm cool with that. Authenticity doesn't seem to be too high on Fox's priority list!

samd577 and Tyler - Just goes to show that Marvel after late '91/early '92 got loose with the rules! Everything went to crap after that, so continuity and established standards pretty much went out the window!
JonF - 9/27/2009, 2:16 PM
im staring to think this x-men first class is all bull SHIT! U people bitched and complained to much , so now all we got is a prequill to the x-men with wolverine in it mebey a sequill to wolverine and a waste of time and air a movie about magneto. And if u ass holes!!! would of kept your mouth shut we would be getting a fourth x-men movie. not a stupid reboot a continuation of the x-men. Tanks every body
Logan-X - 9/27/2009, 4:13 PM
@Joshw24 True that man, true that... House is the finest television show ever created in my opinion. And to all you who HATE Bones, I just don't think you've probably seen many episodes - look, I'm not saying it's a TERRIFIC show, but they cover enough psychological and cutting edge scientific ground to make it stand out. If I were to use an analogy, I might say CSI barely scratches the surface, Bones gets to the mantle, and House hits paydirt at the core then goes to China lol.

As far as these new Xmen films go, I'm no purist. But there's gotta be a balance. You can take creative and artistic license, but you've gotta respect the source material as well - and Christ, if not out of reason and common sense, at least for continuity's sake. I mean this goes without saying, because that's where they're really screwing everything up.

@Logan-X Blaming the small percentage of the fanbase who strongly voice their opinions on these boards for causing a reboot (first of all you don't even know what we're ACTUALLY GOING TO GET yet - things are so far out, any of these projects can end up wiped off the slate for good)... that's ridiculous. The smashing financial success of Twilight and other "tweeny" cheese movies will have fifty times as much influence over whether First Class gets made or not.

And I very much enjoy your hostile and empty opinion on a Magneto movie, because there are a fair amount of us here who'd like to see one done IF it's done well. IMO, there's a better chance of fixing the continuity problems of the former movies with Magneto or X4, than with First Class, and the resources should be spent to get the great actors who played the characters in the original movies (save Halle) on film before they die. McKellan's the oldest of the lot, and even if it's just a cameo flashback, then like Clive Owen or Ed Harris plays young Magneto, better get it while we can.

First class can wait, there's a neverending barrel of new actors. They'd better get the greats while they can.

48and2 - 9/27/2009, 9:41 PM
And as far as a Wolvie sequel - if the Japan saga is done well, and the continuity problems and loose ends are fixed, look Jackman IS Wolverine. If the only thing we can find to complain about is his height, there will probably never be a more perfect and profoundly dedicated actor for that role. So they'd better get him while he's in his physical prime, and at the rate he works, that's not gonna be much longer considering the amount of time these movies take to make. The Japan Wolverine has tremendous potential to fix the franchise and arguably become the best Xmen film yet made.

Better get Patrick Stewart back as Prof. X also, because he ain't gettin' any younger, and he owns that role like Jackman does Wolvie.

I'll repeat myself again, the tweeny cheese can wait.

@Teabag I got so wrapped up in this here argument, I forgot to say your Roman Polanski joke was hillarious. It could happen, but only if it's made over in Europe :P
48and2 - 9/27/2009, 10:01 PM
48@ lol
teabag - 9/28/2009, 6:39 AM
@ jonf

i understand the whole creative licensing thing, i just think its very lame that they did that to gambit. so what, now every mutant has the base powers of super agility??
CorndogBurglar - 9/28/2009, 6:42 AM
@ logan-x

yeah, its our fault that X3 was written so badly that they couldn't figure out how to take the story from there. so now they are forced to do prequels. its all our fault. what kind of moronic thinking is that? are you 12?
CorndogBurglar - 9/28/2009, 6:44 AM
Gambit does have a form of super agility as a power tho :)
teabag - 9/28/2009, 8:37 AM
CorndogBurglar - After X3, what did you expect? At least they enhanced Gambit's powers instead of taking away anything! His scenes were cool! Theoretically, since his power is to produce kinetic energy, he could be supercharging his body for high jumps!

My biggest problems with XO:W were James and Heather Hudson being old AND getting killed off? For what? Fox just screwed up their chance to bring in Alpha Flight down the road!!
JonF - 9/28/2009, 3:29 PM
48&2- are you saying you wouldn't bring ms. berry back for storm? i thought she was as good as anyone for that role
