Patrick Stewart Not Returning To The X-Men Franchise!!!

All Best Sellers Stuff
If not Patrick Stewart then who?
Were you shocked that Patrick Stewart recently stated he would not be returning to the X-men franchise? SHOCK!! Not really. It was recently rumored that Patrick was not going to return due to the '90210' approach Singer is going to take with 'X-Men: First Class.'

Ror's earlier article confirmed that Patrick Stewart thinks he wont be returning to the X franchise.

Nothing is for sure except for one thing, there has to be a Professor X.

If not Patrick Stewart then who should sit in the wheel chair?

So far we have the below list of possibles:

Michael Cerveris
Daniel Craig
James Carville
Eric Bana

Sounds good, but Patrick Stewart was such a good fit for Xavier's role that it will be damn near impossible to replace him. Hope the studio uses their movie making magic on this one. Oh wait, were talking Fox. Hell, for all we know Xavier could be up and walking around shooting fire balls out of his a%$!!!

Why not let James Carville do it?
BrotherJohnson - 2/2/2010, 9:03 AM
Ror did dis. It's a few down.
Betty - 2/2/2010, 9:03 AM
Wasn't this posted already?
CaptainProg - 2/2/2010, 9:03 AM
well whoever it is has to have a british accent.

grif - 2/2/2010, 9:05 AM
Yess!!! maybe they'll recast everyone! one can only hope :/
thatiscrazy - 2/2/2010, 9:10 AM
Michael Cerveris may be able to do it well

theironspider125 - 2/2/2010, 9:12 AM
That picture above has me awkwardly trying hard not to stare at prof-X's crotch.

News sounds great to me. I'm optamistic that Patrick Stewart's departure could signal the beginning of the deterioration of the stranglehold Fox has on its Marvel properties. Oh happy day!
jusme6 - 2/2/2010, 9:16 AM
Who Will Wield the Wheels?
Depends on how young he's going to be. Maybe Daniel Craig could do a slightly younger version of Xavier. Now that i mention him, he seems very well suited for a youger Magneto!
BIGBMH - 2/2/2010, 9:19 AM
@jusme: Give in, just stare. It's truly glorious.

Oh, and Eric Bana would rock this role. I've been pulling for him to get it for awhile.
Pietro Filipponi - 2/2/2010, 9:22 AM
Ror's article never confirmed anything.

All it said was that Patrick Stewart "wasn't expecting to be involved". This could mean absolutely anything. I find it silly that this article even exists.

But whatever.

Bill Nighy, I guess.

MovieTheaterLad - 2/2/2010, 9:28 AM
wow Eric Bana..cool choice.
sadmamba - 2/2/2010, 9:28 AM
Bill Nighy is too old.
sadmamba - 2/2/2010, 9:29 AM
Wow Poni

Bana... that's a great pluck. I could totally see him pull it off. Get this man a casting couch!
BillyBlack - 2/2/2010, 9:30 AM
Daniel Craig is not bad idea, but if they want a little bit older actor i would go with Willem Dafoe. Although he is american, but hey does it matter if you are good actor? For example Robert Downey Jr. is australian and still nails the role of Sherlock Holmes.
AlexDeLarge666 - 2/2/2010, 9:32 AM
I could see Bana
jman1977 - 2/2/2010, 9:33 AM
If you want James Carville to portray Professor X, just get a plastic rectum and put it in the chair, because James Carville is nothing but a fake plastic asshole with no real function in a normal society.

Frankly I wish that bastard would blow his own head off. Seriously.
bropous - 2/2/2010, 9:37 AM
I'm fine with him being gone if the future of the franchise is going to suck. Can't blame him for leaving for that.
screams - 2/2/2010, 9:41 AM
James Carville is circus ugly! If the X-men are going to be portrayed in their teen years, Prof. X needs to be in his 30's. No more than 40. Any good actor willing to shave his head has my vote. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE VIN DIESEL!!!
MuthaTucker - 2/2/2010, 9:44 AM
@Billy: Thanks. Bana was my pick to play Hank McCoy (Beast) if they rebooted the original franchise or did an X-Factor spin-off, but regarding X-Men First Class I think he's perfect for the Prof. He has the right look and manner of speech.
Pietro Filipponi - 2/2/2010, 9:48 AM
"well whoever it is has to have a british accent."

Xavier is a native New Yorker, albeit a refined one. No reason he needs a British accent.
JohnnyKrypton - 2/2/2010, 9:48 AM
Eric Bana was already Hulk.

So I have to say "no" to that.
MovieTheaterLad - 2/2/2010, 9:53 AM
@MTL: Edward Norton is the Hulk. Not just for one movie, but for a new franchise. No one associates Bana with the character anymore. Since the roles are drastically different there's no issue. Mute point.

If you want to stick by the ideology that no actor should play more than one comic character in their lifetime then that means the likes of Hugo Weaving, Gerard Butler, Ellen Paige, James Franco, Daniel Cudmore or Michael Fassbender should never do another one.

A more rational way of thinking is that once a franchise is over, the actors who starred in it are free agents for other CBM roles as long as they fit the part.
Pietro Filipponi - 2/2/2010, 9:53 AM
You know... Bana woould be a good beast. Not the gay version that was in the xmen movies though.
thatiscrazy - 2/2/2010, 9:54 AM
If they're going older, might I suggest either Malcolm McDowell or Gary Oldman. If they're going younger, Daniel Craig is an interesting choice, but how about James Nesbitt or Christopher Eccleston?
loganoneil - 2/2/2010, 10:05 AM
What about Daniel Day Lewis?
DogsOfWar - 2/2/2010, 10:08 AM
Well if they are going "90210" with this movie, then it really doesn't matter who they pick...the movie will not follow the storyline, the characters will be wrong, they'll pick the wrong actors, etc etc.....

however I do want to make a pick...they will need a younger prof x so I suggest Timothy Olyphant:

http://images.askmen.com/galleries/men/timothy-olyphant/pictures/timothy-olyphant-picture-1.jpg
rza0026 - 2/2/2010, 10:26 AM
They are going for a younger Xavier since this is X-men: First Class

My choice:

Photobucket
Ralph Fiennes
norrinradd85 - 2/2/2010, 10:29 AM
@Multi

No one associates Bana with the character anymore.

How do YOU know that?

People still associate Keaton with Batman.
People still associate Reeve with Superman.
People still associate Jane with Punisher.
People will still associate RDJ with Iron Man after he's gone.
People will still associate Macguire with Spider-Man after he's gone.

I don't think it's fair of you to just say, "Oh well I don't like that version and therefore nobody else does."

Not everyone has seen Edward Norton's Hulk, and I'm sure plenty of people preferred Eric Bana's Hulk. Quit trying to pass off your opinions as fact.

If you want to stick by the ideology that no actor should play more than one comic character in their lifetime then that means the likes of Hugo Weaving, Gerard Butler, Ellen Paige, James Franco, Daniel Cudmore or Michael Fassbender should never do another one.

I never ONCE said "comic book character". I've been going by Superhero movie characters. Those types of characters function alot more differently than others.

Why else would I cast Gerard Butler as Kraven or Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Jane? Because the CBM's they're already in have one story, and any attempts at reebooting or whatever would only result in the same story being told. They're a huge difference between someone playing a character like Batman as opposed to a character from a linear story like Harry Potter.

A more rational way of thinking is that once a franchise is over, the actors who starred in it are free agents for other CBM roles as long as they fit the part.

Well then with that logic, let's cast Willam Defoe as Uncle Ben! And then we can have Tobey Macguire as Harry Osborne! And then Topher Grace as Peter! And then Alfred Molina as Norman Osborn and Thomas Hayden Church as Dr. Octopus! Oh wow that won't be weird and jarring for movie-goers at all!
MovieTheaterLad - 2/2/2010, 10:29 AM
See now if you read the thread about Disney taking all the rights back, then you could possibly just figure on X-MEN first class not even happening.
kirynthemighty - 2/2/2010, 10:39 AM
Wow...lots of Eric Bana talk.
Not if Stan Lee has anything to say about it. bana said he had no intention of returning to the Hulk, and seems like the trend is not to burn Stan.

SkunkApe1 - 2/2/2010, 10:39 AM
He should play PROF X (And probably will if the moneys there) in X-MEN 4 !

But glad he ain't coming back for a crappy CGI version of a younger self like BORIGINS!

We need total stand alone FIRST CLASS REBOOT!!
LEEE777 - 2/2/2010, 10:43 AM
[frick] a 90210 FIRST CLASS BORIGINS SPIN OFF!!!

ORIGINAL FIVE X-MEN all the way!!! : P
LEEE777 - 2/2/2010, 10:44 AM
@MTL:

People still associate Keaton with Batman - He was the first live action Batman since Adam West, of course people will always remember him. Plus, he owned the role.

People still associate Reeve with Superman - Again, because of the scope of films and how well he portrayed the character, he will always be considered the 'real' Superman.

People still associate Jane with Punisher - Because very, very few people saw Stevenson in Punisher War Zone. It was the least watched Marvel film in history.

People will still associate RDJ with Iron Man after he's gone - How do you know? He's the only guy that has every played Iron Man.

People will still associate Maguire with Spider-Man after he's gone - Sure they will. Not only was he the first silver screen live action Spider-Man, but the franchise was one of the most successful in history.

Let's compare that to Eric Bana in Hulk - One time role, bad reviews, has already been recast. Not so memorable compared to the five you just mentioned. I can honestly say that none of the people I've discussed Marvel movies with ever mention Bana as being Bruce Banner. It has nothing to do with my preference of films, it just wasn't well received.

My comment was not referring to the people on this site, I'm pretty sure most of us associate Bill Bixby as the true Banner and Ferrigno and the Hulk. You have to remember we're not talking fanboys, but general audiences. Norton's face comes up with every bit of Hulk news the media puts out.

Also, when you say - "let's cast Willam Defoe as Uncle Ben! And then we can have Tobey Macguire as Harry Osborne! And then Topher Grace as Peter! And then Alfred Molina as Norman Osborn and Thomas Hayden Church as Dr. Octopus!"

How does that fit into my statement of - "once a franchise is over, the actors who starred in it are free agents for other CBM roles as long as they fit the part?"

If they fit the role, why not? None of the associations you mentioned as examples fit the roles. To top if off, they are in the same continuity.

@LEEE: Preach on bro! Original five all the way!
Pietro Filipponi - 2/2/2010, 10:45 AM
@AlexDeLarge666- Robert Downey Jr is American.

@MTL- Seriously calm down man.

No-one is dumb enough to cast actors from the the previous franchise like Tobey Maguire for example as Harry Osborne in the reboot, that's just silly. But if for whatever reason he was chosen to play I don't know...Nightcrawler in an X-Men reboot then theres no problem.

They are certainly not bound to play one character, that's just silly to think that. That is unless they share the same multi-universe. So you wouldn't cast RDJ as a Thor villain ebcause he's already Iron Man within that Universe, but you can cast Willem Dafoe as a Thor villain because his comic book series had no ties to the Marvel Movie Universe.

Seriously, there's no point in denouncing good casting choices just because they've been in another CBM, it;s a silly argument.
Ryden - 2/2/2010, 10:46 AM
I'm not surprised that he's leaving after the way Fox and Ratner screwed him and everyone else over in X-3 and Origins(except Hugh Jack{off}man's Wolverine of course).
supermarioworldE - 2/2/2010, 10:48 AM
Multi@ actually I have always associated Bana more with the present day Hulk than Ed Norton. If there were a couple more Hulk movies with Ed Norton that might change, but right now the original actor sticks more for me, regardless of which movie was better. To be honest, Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno are who I will always first think of when it comes to the Hulk.

I can't picture Bana as Xavier at all. I found an image of him with a shaved head and he just doesn't look the part. Seems an odd fit for me.
Ranger14 - 2/2/2010, 10:49 AM
@AlexDeLarge666

While I agree with you that an actors talent is all that matters-- I have to correct you about Robert Downey Jr. He is American; born and raised in New York. Don't go trying to export one of our best actors. :p

What about "Smallville" star Michael Rosenbaum

SHO1138 - 2/2/2010, 10:53 AM
Multi @ Heck yeah!! ; )
LEEE777 - 2/2/2010, 10:55 AM
I agree with LEEE also. :)

However it probably won't be that way :(
SixSixteen - 2/2/2010, 11:03 AM
@MTL - you're using really terrible (read; pathetically childish) examples to try to illustrate your point. I too hate the practice of "opinion as fact" and "speaking for others", but you commit the same sin yourself numerous times - "RDJ WILL be associated with...", "I'm sure plenty of people preferred...", "any attempts at rebooting would ONLY result..." and so on. How do you know these things? Or are you presenting what you THINK (i.e. take to be self-evident) as a fact?

I think you're letting your personal beef with Poni get in they way of, you know, thinking. People don't need to put "IMO" before and after every sentence for it to be clear that it is ONLY their opinion. Stating something does not mean that someone is presenting it as fact (no more than I took any of your 'factual' statements to be anything other than your opinion).

Get a grip dude.
KeithM - 2/2/2010, 11:18 AM
I agree the original five. And I know Magneto will be there since Singer seems unable to have any other major villain, but I really hope he uses another character as the main antagonist and just shows how it all leads to the breaking of the Xavier/Magnus team.

Yes I still call him Magnus, because I always felt the Eric identity was thrown at the fans so ham fistedly in the comics in the Legacy Virus storyline. All those years he was Magnus and then one day Magneto crashes Illiana Rasputin's funeral and Xavier starts calling him Eric. Its like thirty years later Prof X turns to the X-Men and goes, oh yeah I knew who he was all the time... just didn't think ya needed to know. Super stupid plot device.
NERO - 2/2/2010, 11:22 AM
MLT why don't you like Poni, he's sweet, and will let you play with his tactical gear, and you can pet him and comb his mane and ride... WHOA-HO-HO-HO. Not going there with the my little pony joke. Self edit there. Pony only lives a state over from me and may well take the time to drive up to kick my butt.
NERO - 2/2/2010, 11:25 AM
THINKS, dude. He hasn't even been asked.
Lansdowne5 - 2/2/2010, 11:26 AM
What if Brent Spiner went with a bald look?
Imagine it in your mind's eye, and with some make up he would BE the part!

Fartman - 2/2/2010, 11:29 AM
Bana will never be associated with the Hulk (note lack of IMO) outside of a very small few - he will always be associated, now and forever with Chopper Read.
KeithM - 2/2/2010, 11:30 AM
I preferred Bana's HULK.

I am in the minority, I know. But I thought he gave the more true performance. I thought Ang Lee's HULK had the better cast and superior acting (Nick Nolte notwithstanding)

That said, I see no problem casting Bana as Prof X. It's a completely different take, and you will not see him and say "Why is Bruce Banner playing Charles Xavier?" You will be too busy cuming in your pants.
BillyBlack - 2/2/2010, 11:33 AM
@Fartman

While it would be a little strange to go with another TNG actor; Spiner would nail it.

I think it is time for Patrick Stewart to step down. The CG reverse aging in the last two movies was starting to freak me out a bit.
SHO1138 - 2/2/2010, 11:38 AM
How about Michael Rosenbaum? The Prof is young in First Class. Make up can do wonders to age him for any flash forward scenes.....
macewndu01 - 2/2/2010, 11:50 AM
MTL: First off Calm the [frick] down.
KeithM: THANK YOU!!!!
Now I hate thinking that Stewart won't beplaying Xavier because he just fit into that role, but no matter how that movie will be written I believe its going to be crap. So I can understand distancing himself from it. lmao.
InstigatorGIRL - 2/2/2010, 11:55 AM
@Mace He won't come back to Smallville unless they let him wear a bald cap, so I dunno if he'd be down for it, but good choice.
InstigatorGIRL - 2/2/2010, 11:56 AM
I agree with the Ralph Fiennes idea.
padidas - 2/2/2010, 12:12 PM
If you talking sequels then, well, he's kind of dead, but if it's First Class, yeah that's a little disappointing, but why hasn't anybody suggested Ben Kingsley. He might even be able to pull of a younger Chuck Xavier without special effects!
Wesley Colvin - 2/2/2010, 12:41 PM

Wesley Colvin - 2/2/2010, 12:44 PM
[frick] i hate the title of this article. Show me the confirmation, THEN use that title.

IF he wouldn't be returning, Ralph Fiennes would be the best choice. Xavier must have a certain elegance that still seems masculine. You can't put Stanley Tucci as Charles now can you? LOL

MTL- I still love you, you cute little action figure, you ;P *teehee*
Shaman - 2/2/2010, 12:52 PM
Yeah sorry guys.

I've been having a really bad day right now dealing with idiots at work and I have not been in a good mood today.

Sorry, Poni.

I didn't mean to yell. I'm just really frustrated with personal stuff right now and I shouldn't have brought it here and lashed out like that.

I guess I'll just have to try venting about it in more constructive ways. Like making a joke fancast or something.

MovieTheaterLad - 2/2/2010, 1:02 PM
MTL- You should let loose with the jizz. Calms me down everytime ;P
Shaman - 2/2/2010, 1:10 PM
@Shaman: And makes a mess of my couch.

@MTL: No worries, I don't take e-debate personally :)
Pietro Filipponi - 2/2/2010, 1:14 PM
the new professor needs to look like a young patrick stewert, it is X-Men:First Class! or make that CGI professor from Wolverine origins
HULK2099 - 2/2/2010, 1:22 PM
This article is somewhat misleading - he never said he wouldn't be involved in the X-Men franchise anymore. Splashpage states:

"According to Trek Movie, Stewart joked that Singer was going to hire eight-year-old actors for the film and said that he didn't expect to be involved WITH THE PROJECT."

Where does it say "Patrick Stewart recently stated he would not be returning to the X-men franchise?" That's definitely taking things out of context... Who knows where they'll take the franchise? I'm sure as long as they're still doing X-Men Origin films, he could always come back. All he said was he doubts he'll be in First Class - that's all.
Joker08 - 2/2/2010, 1:26 PM
Poni

I thought you were Italian? Isn't the couch covered in plastic?
BillyBlack - 2/2/2010, 1:44 PM

Pietro Filipponi - 2/2/2010, 1:51 PM
Man i hate when his mom visits. Plastic goes from slippery to sticky in seconds. No absorbtion what so ever :(
Shaman - 2/2/2010, 2:04 PM
who cares. this is going to be a [frick]ing disaster anyway.
deathmetalbrian - 2/2/2010, 2:16 PM
@Shaman: Personally, I prefer Scotch Guard

@deathmetal: Tween X-Men, Harry Potter style film, Donner and Singer are back. . . it doesn't look good so far, does it?
Pietro Filipponi - 2/2/2010, 2:19 PM
Timothy Olyphant as a young Xavier.
Terry Aurand - 2/2/2010, 2:40 PM
Patrick Stewart will be a difficult actor to replace. He was my original choice for X! I was glad he got it! I would probably have Ben Kingsley to play an older one and Keving Spacey as the younger. ;oP
Phinehas - 2/2/2010, 3:06 PM
@Terry No way. I mean, he was great in "Hitman" but even so.
JJMeylar - 2/2/2010, 3:21 PM
Really the only positive thing that can be said about it at this point is that it is Singer and not Ratner. I try to remain the optimist because X-Men is what turned me on to comic books but things are looking grim
Grizzly - 2/2/2010, 3:30 PM
well from what bryan singer was talking about doing was a charles xavier, and magneto in there twenties in the first class film. well that would place the story before x-men origins wolverine because patric stewart was in the wolverine film and he was over the twenty years old mark. so no cyclops, and the others. i expect sinister, and apocalypse in a professor, and magneto film. i was hoping to see more cyclops, and the others so i really hope they do a x-men 4 and 5 after first class, and bring back cyclops, and the others like colossus, angel, nightcrawler, gambit, iceman, rogue, and storm. and give me beak, tito bohusk, angel salvador, glob herman, chamber, and husk.bring on x-4.
1chris2 - 2/2/2010, 3:33 PM
other picks Sean Connery, Michael Rosenbaum, Ed Harris
Terry Aurand - 2/2/2010, 3:35 PM
i say he should return with the older cast for x-men 4 and 5 and finish the series off and fill in the holes and wash the nasty taste away that x-3 left.
1chris2 - 2/2/2010, 3:39 PM
In X-4 they could bring Bishop in as a way to rewind the timeline and undo what Dark Phoenix did so it wouldn't be totally screwed.
Terry Aurand - 2/2/2010, 3:39 PM
In X-4 they could bring Bishop in as a way to rewind the timeline and undo what Dark Phoenix did so it wouldn't be totally screwed.
Terry Aurand - 2/2/2010, 3:40 PM
the only bad things in x-3 in my opinion is that they killed cyclops or made it look that way and left the movie open i would like for them to finish it off and make it better, bring back cyclops and the professor.
1chris2 - 2/2/2010, 3:41 PM
In X-4 they could bring Bishop in as a way to rewind the timeline and undo what Dark Phoenix did so it wouldn't be totally screwed.
Terry Aurand - 2/2/2010, 3:44 PM
i don't know how it posted that many times lol
Terry Aurand - 2/2/2010, 3:51 PM
I have nothing against Prof X walking, I mean he wasn't born with a wheel chair, he has walked several times in teh comics, I think he is now actually.
THEHAWK - 2/2/2010, 4:01 PM
If he wasn't so young I would vote Michael Rosenbaum. What a switch from LL to Prof X. not to mention he is a great actor. Someone mentioned Ralph Fines I think he has a naturally Sinister look and I think his look would not be good for Prof. X But I think he is a great actor.
Grumrok - 2/2/2010, 4:01 PM
I think Ralph Fiennes would be just fine for Xavier!
Ralph has played good guys before, not juts villains!
He has the gravity as an actor to portray a younger
Xavier! He would be perfect for a young First Class
group.

And yes, please have the First Class the REAL Fist Class,
Jean, Scott, Hank, Warren, and Bobby!

But this is Singer, you know its gonna be all jumbled up!
DDD - 2/2/2010, 4:31 PM
Just imagine Ralph Fiennes as Prof X and Clive Owens
as Magneto! Now that would be a formidable acting duo
for First Class!
DDD - 2/2/2010, 4:34 PM
Fiennes FTW. Or FFTW :)

Those hoping for the original 5, sorry, but it won't happen. Ratturd screwed up the chance of getting Angel in there with X3. Blame Ratner, not Singer, for not getting the original 5.

The line-up will (IMO) include Cyke, Jean, Storm (to replace Angel), Beast, and Ice-Man (hopefully). I'm fine with that line-up, of course I'd prefer Angel in there instead of Storm, but, again, Ratner.
InTylerWeTrust - 2/2/2010, 4:55 PM
How about James Bond--- Timothy Dalton?

There is something about Tim that reminds me of Patrick Stewart. Besides he's a great actor and also balding. Plus the eyes and accent!
Kalabog - 2/2/2010, 5:16 PM
@Tyler: No, sorry, blame Singer. Did you forget teenage Bobby Drake in X1 and X2? Ratner might have put the final nail in the coffin, but Singer handed him the hammer. If Iceman is going to be in First Class, he'll be in diapers. Maybe Jean can telekinetically change them.

If Singer even does 5 characters (he could very well do 3 or 4) I'll put some $ on the assumption that he will substitute Angel and Iceman for a student that becomes a villain by the end of the movie and some random mutant that gets killed.

Anyone want to take that bet?
Pietro Filipponi - 2/2/2010, 5:19 PM
Bobby in X1/X2 did not look like a high school teen to me. At least, not a young one. He looked 19-20 in those movies. I'm sure they can make a teenage Bobby convincing in First Class. Make him like 14 years old, and I think it fits just fine. That's just the way I saw it, I didn't think Bobby looked like he was a teenager.
InTylerWeTrust - 2/2/2010, 6:14 PM
Personally, I would like to see Liam Neeson as Professor Xavier
batcavepwnsphonebooth - 2/2/2010, 8:00 PM
@Multi

Despite the arguing earlier. I accept that bet.

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MovieTheaterLad/news/?a=13895

Besides, they didn't have the original 5 in the cartoons or in other comic lines. It's not really that much of a big deal.
MovieTheaterLad - 2/2/2010, 8:24 PM
@loganoneil
Malcolm McDowell and Gary Oldman for the win. I was thinking the exact same thing.
Newbe - 2/2/2010, 10:21 PM
Kalabog & batcavepwnsphonebooth - Both excellent choices - I could totally see either Dalton or Neeson as Profesor X as well!
loganoneil - 2/3/2010, 7:17 AM
...or if the studios don't like McDowell, Oldman, Dalton OR Neeson, how about...

DAVID BOWIE
moar funny pictures

Let's not forget that he also played Nikolo Tesla too!
loganoneil - 2/3/2010, 10:24 AM
I haven't paid to see a superhero movie from Fox since X2. Even if they got Singer back, they're still a bunch of fails trying to repair their cred. Singer failed with Superman Returns and Fox failed with X3 and Wolverine. No reason to be optimistic until I see a bunch of good reviews.
fanboiii - 2/3/2010, 11:11 AM
loganoneil
You know, that's a good idea! If you shave off that Goblin King 80s rock star hair, he looks like X with those cocked brows!
Phinehas - 2/3/2010, 11:42 AM
maybe kevin spacy if they make him lookmlike how he did in superman returns
wade1210 - 2/3/2010, 1:09 PM
Phinehas - My thoughts EXACTLY!

IF we're talking of 'X-Men' casting alternatives, I nominate Timothy Dalton as a replacement for Sir Ian McKellan's Magneto. I think he's got the presence and the voice to really carry it off!

Why Not Terry O'Quinn? He's used to being bald and in a wheelchair, and he's a great actor. By The time the new Xmen is filmed, Lost will be over with.

@loganoneil

Have you seen the latest pic of Tim Dalton together with the cast of Dr. Who he could really pass as Patrick Stewart's younger brother. Check this link --- http://www.scifiscoop.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/timothy_dalton_doctor_who.jpg.

Well Dalton is comfortable being a hero or villain (He does has a mean smirk) so I am fine which role he lands either Magneto or Prof X. My concern is that although I can also picture David Bowie as Prof. X, I did notice that he has aged and a gained a lot of weight lately especially in the movie "Prestige" with Christian Bale .

Kalabog - Seen it? I already own the 'Specials' DVD's (I'm a HUGE 'Doctor Who' fan)! I agree, Dalton could pass for one of Stewart's family. And either way, if he goes Prof X or Magneto, he's a BRILLIANT actor (though I've heard he's a bit hard to work with. Hmmm...)

I agree, Bowie is aging, but Prof. X is no spring chicken either! As for the weight, I believe he gained it for the role - he's usually a pretty thin guy.
