James McTeigue is NOT Co-Directing X-Men Origins: Magneto

The Ninja Assassin director (and rumored Superman relaunch director) denies being attached to Magneto.

Director James McTeigue, the man many believe may be helming the next Superman movie, was recently rumored to be in talks to co-direct X-Men Origins: Magneto with X-Men Origins: Wolverine director Gavin Hood.

However, McTeigue says that is not the case...at least, not right now:

"I think [screenwriter] David Goyer would probably be surprised about that, actually. I think that's just one of those rumors that kind of starts...Until [Hood] drops out!"

	I don't understand why everyone seems to be against making a Magneto film. I think it would be awesome to see this film. Magneto is a complex character whose origin story would be great to see. 	For anyone who would actually go and see the completely pointless Magneto movie just head over to Wikipedia. His origns are incredibly straight forward and not too interesting. 	FOX don't know what they're doing. L.S. Donner doesn't know what she's doing. Those people who have the most creative control don't know what it means to "stick to the source material". They just figure that saying those words gets a positive reaction. They are like that kiss ass retard who has a list of "power words" in his day book to impress anyone who will hear their bullshit, yet they themselves have no [frick]ing idea what those words mean. Magneto could be a great story, there have been a few in the comics that would make a good fantasy-drama. Exploring how he ultimately becomes like those who persecuted him during the war. But can FOX and Donner handle anything that offers the potential for depth and real character study? If XO:Wolverine is any example, than, hell no. The only reason I wouldn't want to see a Magneto film is because the studio doing it doesn't know how to make a comic book movie. If Singer was on board, then the idea has a life line because let's face it, Singer is the only director who has shown he can run the Donner/FOX gauntlet and come out the other side with a good X-film. 	LEE: I thought Origins was decent enough CBM but it cant be denied that Fox [frick]ed up a hell of a lot! From Gambit being introduced 20 years too early in continuity to Deadpool and right to that damn magic bullet they screwed a lot up! I just cant imagine what they'd to Magneto! 	A few points to raise here... 1) This article has quoted the original source wrong. It's not 'until [Hood] drops out', it means until Goyer drops out. Goyer rewrote the Magneto screenplay and is also the director. What McTeigue is saying is that he would love to do it IF Goyer drops out. Hood has also expressed an interest. 2) I've got the Magneto script and it's pretty good. There are not dozens of cameos in it. I actually thought it could do with one or two more characters - like adding in Mystique as the wartime spy she was in the comics. There is no Quicksilver and no Scarlet Witch in it either. That's partly because Marvel retains the rights to Witch, they are not at Fox. 3) Wolverine was not that bad. It was all the fanboys like you lot on here that wanted Gambit etc, added to the story, so quit whining. It's like a meeting of the Never Satisified Society. And what happened to Wade Wilson is just the origin of the character, at least it explains his name as being a 'dead pool' of other people's powers, as was stated in the movie. Doesn't mean he will keep the powers.I thought he had a pretty good introduction. 4) Someone on this site, i think it's LEEE, keeps stealing my Captain America manips off my Geek Files blog, so please STOP DOING IT unless you give me a credit as the source. 	@JOSHW24 I'm honestly sick of debating the "should they or shouldn't they" with this movie; however, using the wiki reference is a bit of a low blow. Anyone can sum up any movie in a paragraph or two, here is Batman Begins: Bruce Wayne's parents die...he feels guilty. One day he falls into a batcave and develops a phobia. Years later he decides he wants to continue his parents legacy and clean up Gotham. He learns how criminals think, and is instructed by an expert martial artist. Later, his sensei comes to Gotham to destroy it. Batman stops him, the end. Just because MAGNETOS' origins have been relagated to a few paragraphs on wiki, doesn't mean there isn't enough material for a film......and look at it this way, the less there is on paper, the less they have to screw with!!! Why some of you don't wan't to see TWO OF THE MOST POWERFUL MUTANTS ON THE PLANET come into their powers is beyond me, but seriously........enough with the "there isn't enough material" bullsh!t already. 	@ josh there is actually way more material than most people know about. everyone just thinks of him being in a concentration camp. when in actuallity, thats just the beginning. he goes back and gets revenge on the nazi military, which could be very cool. he meets magda, and they have a kid, but then the townspeople set fire to their home and magda and the kid get burned alive while he watches. they COULD show the birth of quicksilver and scarlet witch. (personally i don't think they should though) his meeting, friendship, and falling out with xavier. not to mention, his transformation from eric into magneto and the formation of the brotherhood. the plot points i named right there are enough for at least two magneto movies, if they wanted. there is plenty of material. i just don't think it would do well, and i would rather see someone else get time in the limelight. but then again, the x-movies have been horrible, so i'm ready for a Marvel studios reboot.
