Hugh Jackman reveals tidbits at the People's Choice Awards!
This comes as no surprise to me. Hugh Jackman is most likely the biggest Wolverine fan on this Earth, so he would be most excited to reveal "Wolverine 2"'s progress! For those of you who thought "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" could have been better, here is some comforting news from Superhero Hype!:

"Scooper 'Narrows101' pointed us to the People's Choice Awards 2010 website where you can find a video of Hugh Jackman, who won "Favorite Action Star," talking briefly about "Wolverine 2."

In the video titled 'Hugh Jackman Backstage,' Jackman first says that he's going to shoot the Shawn Levy-directed Real Steel this summer, followed by this: 'Wolverine's going to be back. He's going to Japan. We shoot that probably in a year, year-and-a-half, something like that.'

Considering the 2011 shoot, we guess that they'll be eying a summer 2012 release."

The sequel to "Wolverine" is said to focus on Logan's travels through Japan. Which in turn is based off what many consider to be the definitive Wolverine comic!

As long as Fox doesn't botch it up like some other poorly concieved comic based movies, this film could likely turn out to be greater than even "X2!"

To watch the actual video, follow this link:
http://www.peopleschoice.com/pca/awards/video-highlights/

and click on Hugh Jackman Backstage.

That's all for now!

My problem with these prequels is that none of it matters. We know Logan isn't going to get his memory back.We know he's not going to die, so where's the danger and suspense? We know from the comics and the future X movies that he won't end up with Mariko. He'll either have to leave her or she'll die. Now, I know it's a trend in the comics for Logan to lose every woman he gets involved with, but that would just be depressing for him to lose a woman every movie.

Basically, the only way to make these prequels count is to just focus on telling cool action stories.Don't even pretend like he's going to uncover his past, or find a woman. We already know those things probably won't happen.
tazmaniak - 1/8/2010, 11:24 PM
what exactly is the story of Wolverine in Japan where can i read the synopsis or whatever for it because idk what it is about other than the fact that Silver Samurai is there
BlackCat1 - 1/8/2010, 11:55 PM
why make another film when the last on was so bad. it's like when fox made x3 they decided they were just gonna make the movies worse and worse. hopefully they don't screw this up or else there will be hell to pay.
Remy83 - 1/9/2010, 12:51 AM
Get ZACK SNYDER for director and Im on board.
Ozymandias - 1/9/2010, 12:56 AM
Wadey, you're dreamin!

Ironically enough, they already screwed up on X2 by introducing Yuriko as if Logan didn't recognize her.

Lame
Phinehas - 1/9/2010, 1:05 AM
@Remy83

How good the movie was is totally subjective. While it was the weakest of the first three, I still got enjoyment out of X-3. And I also really liked Origins.

What CANNOT be denied is that both those movies made LOTS of money, which is incentive enough to make another one.

Also, I wouldn't be too worried.

The guy who wrote Goodfellas is writing for the Wolverine sequel.
MovieTheaterLad - 1/9/2010, 1:55 AM
I'll give it another chance...

ACCESS - 1/9/2010, 3:54 AM
could be great.i would like to see the silver samuria, sabretoothe, lady deathstrike, sunfire, and x23 above all other mutants in this film but omega red and sauron could fit nicely in the film as mutants hunting wolverine for stryker, and suaron could even be asian.cant wait to see what they do with this maybe they will make something great this time around, then they can move on to x-4,and 5 and give characters like colossus, angel, iceman, gambit, beast, and nightcrawler some great stories.first class just might be pretty sweet to since singers returning. maybe it will be a new trilogy and they can add some new mutants like beak tito bohusk, angel salvador, glob herman, chamber, husk, anole, rockslide, prosimian, orb weaver, sinister, and apocalypse, and do the whole sentinels hunting mutants story. man they could make some great movies if they try,if not give it back to marvel.
1chris2 - 1/9/2010, 6:30 AM
Even though I didnt like Wolverine: Origins I'll still give the sequel a shot. No real anticipation for it.

LEEE777 - 1/9/2010, 9:45 AM
Damn right it better be, Leee! I'll give it another chance, but it's on REAL thin ice. It bothers me that I hate the film about one of my favorite characters. Don't [frick] this up Huge Jack-Man.
Betty - 1/9/2010, 10:34 AM
jackman is filth and his wolvie suxxx...any more wolvie films will suck
Anil Rickly - 1/9/2010, 10:49 AM
You can't blame Origins on Jackman, he has done a great job with the character. If they focus on the story, movie will be awesome.

Ozy, you should have Snyder direct your life! jk
DogsOfWar - 1/9/2010, 11:00 AM

superdog - 1/9/2010, 12:46 PM
I completely agree with Kenny. Prequels mean the same old characters with nothing new and exciting. Plus part of the appeal of Wolverine is that his past is shrouded in mystery. Even the comic "Origins" didn't reveal everything. I don't think I wanna know all about Wolverine's past. I mean I like Hue Jackman, but I'm getting a little tired of X-Men movies filled with colorful characters that only focus on Wolverine and no one else.
jusme6 - 1/9/2010, 3:17 PM
I liked origins even with its flaws and I hope they do make it a better film.

Jusme6- I agree that a lot of the X-Men films were already focused on Wolverine but I cant help it I dig wolverine. I do hope that they expand on Gambit and make a film based on him because he does have a huge back story and his own villains that are just as interesting as Wolverine's.
ironknight27 - 1/9/2010, 5:01 PM
BETTY @ Hell yeah!!

DOGS @ Yes i do blame JACKMAN for BORIGINS, he was partly involved, he just bent over and took it, much like REYNOLDS did!!! : D
LEEE777 - 1/9/2010, 5:27 PM
I didn't mind the first Wolvie movie they messed a few things up the worst being DP but quite a few things were right and the action was pretty good, it was just so crammed full of stuff that it didn't appear so, hopefully the next movie isn't so crammed full of characters that they can focus on story.
Osiris - 1/9/2010, 5:47 PM
The unfortunate part is, no matter how crappy a Wolvie movie is, we're all STILL gonna watch it. I'm getting tired of Jackman's Wolverine, there's spirit but no soul.
BryEL - 1/9/2010, 5:59 PM

GUNSMITH - 1/9/2010, 6:42 PM
BUT LETS THINK LIKE FOX..EVEN WITH A NEW DIRECTOR, THEY WILL WANT TO BOLSTER THE CAST LIKE THEY DID WITH THE FIRST ONE, SO IF IN TERMS OF"HOW DO WE FOX THIS UP" THEY WILL WANT THE MOVIE TO HAVE MORE THAN WHAT THE BOOKS MAY HAVE HAD IN THEM, MEANING"WORK SOME OF THE COOL WOLVERINE CHARACTERS IN"..IF I WERE TO TAKE A STAB AT IT THEY MAY JUST INCLUDE (FORCE IN)THESE CHARACTERS TO DRAW IN MORE..

GUNSMITH - 1/9/2010, 6:52 PM
i read on IMDb that Christopher McQuarrie is writing it, so i am stoked for Origins 2, i personally enjoyed the first Origins. Jackman and the small part Reynolds had made the movie.
Ipkiss - 1/9/2010, 6:55 PM
@BryEl: Not me. Unless I see signs that this one will be quite a bit better I won't even bother with it. I swear I won't even watch it.

SixSixteen - 1/9/2010, 6:57 PM
OH AND HE NEEDS TO WEAR THE DAMN COSTUME THIS TIME.

GUNSMITH - 1/9/2010, 7:00 PM
you wont catch me near this unless there's a massive improvement and i mean massive and no interference from fox either.
ukboy28 - 1/9/2010, 7:04 PM
Gunsmith, we'll never get to see the costume. I think it's time we all stopped dreaming.
thwhtGuardian - 1/9/2010, 7:13 PM
True dat Guardian-Costume won't make it with one exception. He goes to Japan to train in martial arts. They give him something close to classic uni as he takes on a bunch of ninjas. Just throwin it out there in case someone who can do something reads this. It gives us fans a chance to see what we've been dreaming of.
DogsOfWar - 1/9/2010, 7:24 PM
SOMETIMES DREAMS COME TRUE.
GUNSMITH - 1/9/2010, 7:42 PM
@GUNSMITH: If you look at this samurai uniform, it has some elements of the costume. Combine that with a ninja outfit (both based in Japan) you have a good reason to bring in the costume. Not a big Wolvie fan, so I probably won't see this, but here's to keeping hope alive. : )

Samurai Pictures, Images and Photos
Upupandaway - 1/9/2010, 7:53 PM
They'll give him the costume. I think they'll feel "safe" enough because of all the ninjas and other characters in costume. But to [frick] it up they'll put Omega Red or Cable or Bishop or some other character that came years after the story.
Betty - 1/9/2010, 8:04 PM
let the dream die man, it'll only hurt more when it fails.
thwhtGuardian - 1/9/2010, 8:05 PM
Not a huge Wolverine fan but a comicbook nut so I know plenty about him. The Japan story should put a new light on Logan. No way can this film get messed up. Oh wait its still in the hands of Fox.
hewilldefytheirgravity - 1/9/2010, 8:08 PM
Big dreams die hard Guardian!

To me Origins was GOOD sure they messed some thing up,
and BARAKAPOOL was one of them, but to me that wasn't
deadpool..it was a F*** up of Wade Wilson's history, he never actually became deadpool..actually they NEVER even
called him deadpool..they always said WADE. I can look past that since we are FINALLY getting a REAL Deadpool
movie really soon.

And Wolvie 2 in JAPAN that is going to be awesome! Jackman is really good at playing wolvie!..NO one would be as good as Jackman when playing wolvie. I am looking forward to this one.
peterparker420 - 1/9/2010, 8:39 PM

InFamouslyCool - 1/9/2010, 8:48 PM

Ryan Renolds himself? I thought he was
doing deadpool after green lantern?
peterparker420 - 1/9/2010, 9:53 PM
this from MTV Splashpage 1/6/10

File this one under awesome news — the writers of "Zombieland" are taking their bloody appetites to "Deadpool."

According to Variety, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick — the writing duo behind "Zombieland" and Sony's proposed "Venom" movie — have been hired to pen the screenplay for "Deadpool," the "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" spin-off starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular merc with a mouth.

Reese and Wernick are reportedly sticking closely to "the mythology of 'Deadpool' given that Reynolds is a huge fan and protector of the property." While Reynolds has already stated his desire to stay true to Deadpool's comic book roots in the past, it's still great to hear that Reese and Wernick are on board with the actor's vision.
The time line for the movie's production is still up in the air, as Reynolds is well on his way towards playing Hal Jordan in "Green Lantern," which should begin shooting in a few short months. Variety notes that the actor could have enough of an opening to slip out of his emerald suit and into Deadpool's red duds following the "Green Lantern" shoot, which would be particularly convenient since Reynolds "would already be in superhero shape" thanks to the DC Comics film.

With Reynolds' vision officially supported by incoming writers Reese and Wernick, not to mention the steady guidance of producer Lauren Shuler Donner, the next essential ingredient will be booking the perfect director. Given the say he seems to have on this project, not to mention his dual superhero roles, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Reynolds himself ends up in the director's chair.

It is annoying when they force characters into the movies that don't need to be there. As for Psylocke, I could see her in this movie, without it being forced. She is a ninja after all, and the Hand should be a part of the story. Also, she got her Asian body from Revanche, who was the lover of Hand assassin Matsu'o, who was responsible for Mariko's death.I could see them easily using Psylocke and Revanche or even a combination of the two.
tazmaniak - 1/9/2010, 10:22 PM
I know it looks decent, but all of that stuff was said about wolverine...and look what happened. I'm not getting my hopes up.
thwhtGuardian - 1/9/2010, 10:41 PM
Actually Betty really nailed it.

@ Hawksblueyes: Not me. I don't care. I would be just fine with sitting the whole thing out entirely.
After X Men 3 and then Deplorigins, I have no problem at all ignoring the hype, and skipping the movie.

As soon as we start hearing about how the Hand is now The Foot (from TMNT) Mariko is a tranny, Lord Shingen is a mutant, they merge Yukio and Domino and how the movie will guest star Celia Reyes, Gideon, Blaqeusmith, Nate Grey, and Peeper that's exactly what I will do. Turn my back on the whole thing.
SixSixteen - 1/9/2010, 11:17 PM
Meh whatever fox messed up the whole X-men franchise with X-3, then decided to compound those errors in X-Men origins. Wolverine origins should have explained what Xavier and Magneto knew about Logan and in my opinion should have focused solely on Team X years or been like The Bourne movies.

I almost had a fit when this ass posted this in the South African TImes magazine. (he's the resident film critic listing top 20 movies of the year)

"The Best of 2009 (part One)
Top 20 Movies

20. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Gavin Hood slipped from the independent, arty circuit into the big time with this skilled and exciting "origins" epic about the youth and manhood of Wolverine.

With Hugh Jackman in seriously good condition, and a deftly crafted script, the film became a massive hit. Hood showed great aptitude with the special effects, and he sustained the pace perfectly. His film will be a top 10 moneymaker of 2009.

Killer Scene: The CGI brilliance of the leap over the waterfall. "

Just because Hood is South African....

Nightwing09 - 1/10/2010, 12:17 AM
I figure why not make it, they would have to actually try real hard to make one worse that XMO-W. Thing about hitting rock bottom is you only have up to go from that point on. And for Deadpool, I would like to not see Ryan Reynolds play that character. Why not get someone who could pull it off like Paul Rubens?

GUNSMITH - 1/10/2010, 4:16 AM
i would love to see omega red,the sexy psylock,x-23,daken,and sauron in a wolverine film. but i think for the next wolverine film they should use lady deathstrike, sabretoothe, and silver samuria. then at the end have wolverine in russia or something were omega red comes in. sauron might work in the wolverine film, and they need to explain victor turning into sabretoothe and joining magneto and mysteique.
1chris2 - 1/10/2010, 6:29 AM
@ Gunsmith: your posts are right-on when it comes to Wolverine here. That Deadpool comic is fantastic. Wolverine used to be kick-ass and I feel like he hasn't been really accurately represented in the PG world of the fox movies. I don't know how they'd make the mask look in real-life from his old tan and brown costume. I just don't know if it will translate to the big screen. It'll make Hugh Jackman look like an old number two pencil.
HELLADoctor - 1/10/2010, 6:49 AM
Ken Watanabe for Silver Samurai!!!!!

YOU KNOW, WITH THE BROWN COSTUME I WAS THINKING..WHY WOULD HE WEAR IT? OK, HE'S FIGHTING NINJAS AND THE HAND..THEY ALL ARE USING STEALTH AND WHAT NOT, MAYBE HIS COSTUME IS HIS WAY OF USING STEALTH BACK AGAINST HIS ENEMY..
BUT HONESTLLY IF YOU DO TRANSLATE IT, MAKE IT MORE REAL WORLD AND RUGGED.YOU GET THE MASK DEAD ON AND THE REST YOU CAN JUST GET IT TO RHYME TO THE ORIGINAL COSTUME DESIGN AND IT WOULD BE ALL GOOD.
GUNSMITH - 1/10/2010, 9:39 AM
seriously Ozy, i'm starting to think you're a stalker for Zack Snyder. jesus dude, you want that guy to direct every movie that ever gets made. give it a rest
CorndogBurglar - 1/10/2010, 10:36 AM
"X-Men" was a good movie.
"X-Men 2" didn't suck.
"X-Men 3" DID suck.
The Wolverine movie was a freakin' abomination in EVERY way.
They get worse with each new movie. The only thing making another one can do is make the last one look better by comparison.
theangrytroll - 1/10/2010, 10:48 AM
I doubt it blackout, I know I won't be waiting in line.
thwhtGuardian - 1/10/2010, 11:22 AM
x-men 2 didn't suck? angry troll, imho x-2 was the gem of the series! one of my top 5 comic movies of all time!

although i hated the stuff in wolverine that was too divergent from the comics, i liked the rest of wolverine. the canada stuff was cool. deadpool kinda sucked, but gambit was cool as well as some of the supporting characters. don't get me wrong, it still should have been better.
foxfan - 1/10/2010, 11:32 AM
Omega Red would be cool, I hate the Silver Samurai, hope he's not in it, would be too predictable a movie.
Ryguy88 - 1/10/2010, 11:59 AM
Yeah, X-Men 2 didn't suck. It was okay. I think the first one was MUCH better, because it was more about the TEAM, and not so much just about Wolverine, as the series quickly became. Hell, some of the main characters on the team were reduced to not much more than glorified cameos after the first film. Storm, Cyclops, even Xavier. To me, that made the films progressively less interesting, and less enjoyable to watch.
theangrytroll - 1/10/2010, 2:00 PM
well they had better explain sabretoothe going from victor to what he was in x-men 1.and hell yeah omega red would be cool to see on screen.
1chris2 - 1/10/2010, 3:46 PM
Ryguy88- Of course Silver Samurai will be in it..he's
going to JAPAN for gods sake! LOL

watch wolverine and the x-men episode.."Code of Conduct"
just this episode ALONE would make a great Movie and a good
refference for Wolverine:Origins 2

you can watch it on-blinkx.tv.com here is the episode
desription..

Wolverine comes back to the mansion to
discover that the Silver Samurai had
captured the X-Men. Having been defeated
by Wolverine a few years ago, the Samurai
forces Wolverine to fight him to death and
regain his honor, in order to become a
yakuza clan leader. The odds are stacked
against Wolverine as the rules of the duel
restrict him from using his claws, and he
has long since forgotten how to fight with a sword.

Note: this episode has not aired in the UK due to its themes.

peterparker420 - 1/10/2010, 6:10 PM
I don't believe that Jacky boy is the biggest Wolvy fan.

He was one of the producers for Borigins. Do I need to say more.

I think he does a great job as Wolvs but I always thought he is way to tall for the role.

I wish there was somebody else qualifed for the role, but I really can't think of anybody better.
TheRealEnrico - 1/10/2010, 7:36 PM
As as he has the brown uniform and Logan hair.......... And claws that don't look like they've be rendered on my old comador 64
ArkhamsBellBoy - 1/11/2010, 4:56 AM
Why set myself up for disappointment? This movie's gonna suck. Plain and simple. I can only hope that every one of you on this site is wise enough to not give fox any more your money to molest our beloved x-men. The damage is done. There's no room left for hope.
supermarioworldE - 1/11/2010, 9:36 AM
mickey rourke would have made an awesome sabretooth . . . but i'm glad he ended up as whiplash, the preview makes it look like he was BoRn for that role!
foxfan - 1/11/2010, 10:28 AM
One day the Wolverine/XMEN movies will be done CORRECTLY, when that day comes everyone will wake up and see what big steaming piles of elephant sh!t these movies were.
thatiscrazy - 1/11/2010, 12:39 PM
well i hope they call it Wolverine 2 and just that no x-men should be in the title. For me that was a big problem and the only problem with the movie. And give him a costume or don't. But get rid of that tank top and jeans cause it's geting tired.
Logan-X - 1/11/2010, 2:44 PM
These Wolverine movies will always be successful as long as they stick to tradition
jimdrums - 1/11/2010, 10:46 PM
I liked Wolverine Origins. My issues with the movie were that they messed up Deadpool at the end and that it was all like Wolverine was on an episode of punk. No, your girlfriend is really dead, no Sabertooth likes you enough to help you at the end of the movie, your girlfriend was a set up anyway, blah blah blah.

I did like that Sabertooth was Wolverine's brother, because they have such a twisted and deep connection that it seems like they should be and when I read Origins, I sure did think that's who they were going to say Dog was.

But even though they messed up stuff, Hugh Jackman loves Wolverine and I think I love that the most about him playing the character. I still want to see them make my characters come to life.
gorgeousgeeks - 1/12/2010, 4:00 AM
@gorgeousgeeks

i'm with ya, i feel deadpool is the only thing awful in origins. the war scenes were cool, and there were plenty of neat scenes like the guy living in his circus trailer full of gadgets and gizmos lighting up. that said, the deadpool screwup is SO HUGE it does taint the movie as a whole.

as far as wolverine tradition and comic accuracy, i would point out that in the comics wolverine has been rebooted more than once. after all, he did start out as a mutant wolverine from a species that had evolved into wolverine-humanoids separate from homo sapiens. after mulitiple touch ups and retcons, we have the comic wolvie of today.
foxfan - 1/12/2010, 11:14 AM
Who cares they need to reboot the whole X-Men movie franchise Sony messed up spider-man alittle bit but Fox totally F'up X-Men and Wolverine and soon to be Deadpool... BS
Kapoleon - 1/12/2010, 9:42 PM
x-2 was awesome thats how a comic book movie is made.
1chris2 - 1/13/2010, 5:31 PM
I disagree with everbody that says that deadpool was the only problem with Origins. The whole movie was a mess.

I love to point out in the opening scene Wolvy's daddy gets shot with a double barrel shot gun when wolve is like ten years old. Then the next scene Wolvs is a adult in the civil war using muskets! So did he go to the past or something in between scene?

I injoyed watching the movie, but not the way I wanted.

The movie was a joke.
TheRealEnrico - 1/15/2010, 11:50 PM
OMEGA RED Anyone? >:D

I agree that the first movie was kinda ridiculous. I felt like i didnt get my monies worth at the theater
