We got a minor update on Indiana Jones 5 a little earlier today, but it was still hard to believe the movie is actually happening. After all, it's been hit by a series of delays since first being announced!

During Lucasfilm's portion of Disney's Investor Day, Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that Logan director James Mangold will indeed be at the helm of this fifth instalment of the iconic franchise. It goes without saying that Harrison Ford is returning to play the title character, but it sounds like this is it.

During the presentation, Kennedy noted that Indiana Jones 5 will "conclude this iconic character’s journey." Mangold had us all reaching for our hankies when he wrapped up Wolverine's story, so who knows what he has in store for Indy during his final adventure on the big screen.

The movie is keeping its current July 2022 release date, so expect more official updates to follow!

Here's the official Indiana Jones 5 announcement from Disney:

I hope they don’t try to make it like Logan. Indiana Jones is based on adventure serials. It wouldn’t fit with the series. I would like to see Ford back one more time and go out on a high note. Bring back Short!

@MrDandy - Spielberg already confirmed that he won't be killed off if that still means anything.

Good, recasting Indy is a bad idea. We don't need constant remakes/reboots for every franchise. Just let it rest after this one.

Would have been nice to get 2 more movies, finish the second trilogy, but considering Ford’s age we are probably lucky to get 1 movie with him.
