JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK Star Tom Cruise Reveals Why He's Never Done A Superhero Movie

Last night, Tom Cruise paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel and shared a few fun stories, including why he's never done a superhero movie. Plus, Cobie Smulders spills all the beans on Avengers: Infinity War!

Outside of being linked to Iron Man over a decade ago, Tom Cruise has primarily stayed away from superhero movies, and while that shouldn't come as a big surprise to anyone who's followed his illustrious career, it does the beg the question of why.

Speaking with Jimmy Kimmel last night, the 3x Academy Award-nominee was asked whether he's ever had a serious conversation with either Marvel or DC to star in one of their films, and replied with a relatively firm no. When pressed on whether those kinds of films even interest him, he explained: "Look, I really enjoy those films, I enjoy them, but I make the Missions and the kind of Reacher... just different kinds of movies."

Fair enough and with a megastar resume that spans 30+ years and that, just in the past decade, includes a wide variety of critically acclaimed films like Edge of Tomorrow, two Mission: Impossibles, Tropic Thunder, Oblivion, Jack Reacher, and also has The Mummy & American Made on the docket for next year. it's easy to see why he's never felt the need to put on any sort of costume. Jack Reacher: Never Go Back follows the title character as he returns to Virginia to meet the head of his former unit. But she's missing, he's being charged with a crime committed nearly 20 years ago, and he may even have a daughter. Making things right will lead him on a cross-country chase to uncover the truth - and maybe even a family.
