November 2 is going to be a lovely day for Mad Max fans, as George Miller's post-apocalyptic quadrilogy will be released in 4K resolution for the first time ever.

Warner Brothers Home Entertainment has announced that a 4K Ultra and Blu-Ray collection titled The Mad Max Anthology will be hitting shelves in time for Christmas, and include 1979's Mad Max, 1981's Mad Max: The Road Warrior, 1985’s Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and 2015’s Mad Max Fury Road. The original film and recent Fury Road are already available on 4K, but this will mark the first time the middle two instalments will be released in that format.

Mel Gibson played the titular "Mad" Max Rockatansky in the first three movies, with Tom Hardy taking over as the iconic antihero in Fury Road. The Dark Knight Rises actor is expected to reprise the role at some point, but our next trip to the wasteland will focus on Furiosa, with Anya Taylor‑Joy playing a younger version of Charlize Theron's one-armed warrior. Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul‑Mateen II will co-star, and the movie is currently set for a May 24, 2024 release.

Do you guys plan on picking up this set? Let us know in the comments.

I think the Furiosa prequel is going to be awesome, and can't wait for it to come out but man, I really hope we get a continuation of Hardy's Max soon.

That's the best they can do for the cover?

I’ve tried getting into the older movies but just can’t. Fury Road is a masterpiece to me.

The first two and Fury Road are the best of the four movies, don't really care much for seeing the third one ever again.

I know I’m the minority here but I really don’t see what’s so great about Fury Road.

I watched the film with 4 other people and 40 min into the movie everyone looked at me because I recommended it (based on reviews) and they all asked if we could watch something else.

And I agreed with them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sad cover though

Not the best of the 4, but the most memorable. I think i saw this film 5 or 6 times the Summer of 85.

@GeneralZod - It gets a bad wrap, and yeah, I wish it wasn't pg-13, but it's far from bad.
Tina Turner is over the top, but solid, the kids aren't as annoying imo as most people make it out to be, and the ending is satisfying to me. The Thunderdome fights are pretty fun and there are some nice bits of quotable dialogue.

It's probably my least favorite Max movie, but it's still pretty good.

@Feralwookiee - The movie was a [frick]ing masterpiece up to his banishment to "GULAG" after busting the deal and spinning the wheel. Then he stumbles on the kids and the airplane and the movie was terrible from that point to the end.

@Feralwookiee - But still, that first 70% or so of the film ... very, very well done. Very creative, very original.

The cinematography was really good. You don't see that attention to camera positioning in 2021 unless it's a Denis Villeneuve film.

@GeneralZod - Yeah. The beginning is solid. But, like I wrote up there, the kid stuff doesn't bother me much. Hell, they even kill one of them in pretty horrible fashion. You don't see that much in mainstream movies anymore. Lol

Clicked on it, but didn't see a price. I'm hoping $29.95(ish) or am I crazy?

My list:

1. The Road Warrior
2. Fury Road
3. Mad Max
4. Thunderdome

Lord Humungous is still one of my favorite villians in anything. That guy was rocking his look.

@CurlyBill - Lord Humungus is my spirit animal.

He just wanted the gas. He offered those greedy people safe passage through the wasteland. But, did they listen? Noooooooo.

1- The Road Warrior
2- Mad Max/Fury Road
3- Beyond Thunderdome

I really love how different Mad Max 1 is from the rest, I think it's underrated today due to being such an outlier both aesthetically and in pacing. Not here of course, you guys like it well enough.

I wish the cover was the villain faces thing in the twit, has a more 'box-set' feel than 2 objects from MM2 in the font for MM4; if that makes any sense.

I've got to watch Road Warrior and Thunderdome properly.
I've seen them both maybe twice now but I always get about half hour in and then lose interest and it's just on in the background while I do something else.
Mad Max was great though.
