The Hollywood Reporter has shared some interesting details on the production of Mission: Impossible - Fallout and it sounds like Tom Cruise may now officially have the most expensive ankle in show business.

According to their sources, the production budget on Fallout skyrocketed to approximately $250 million, due to the eight-week filming hiatus following Cruise's on-set ankle injury in August. Fortunately, however, most of that additional cost will be covered by insurance since Cruise was working when he got hurt, so the actual production budget is roughly $180 million, give or take.

THR notes that the Fallout team used their downtime wisely, editing their already shot footage together in order to ensure they would meet their already set July release date. They also add that the critically-acclaimed film required absolutely no reshoots - a rarity for a project of this caliber, especially after an injury to the film's leading man.

In a separate report, The Hollywood Reporter projects a $50 million opening weekend, possibly landing in the $52 million to $57 million range, which would more or less match the opening of 2015's Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation. There is hope that the launch could go much higher, thanks, in no small part, to the widespread critical acclaim and incredibly positive word-of-mouth. It currently boasts an incredible 97% Certified Fresh rating on the popular review aggregator RottenTomatoes, which is a career-high for Cruise.

Check out a new extended sneak peek below and keep scrolling for some action-packed new featurettes, a critics TV spot, funny new interviews, and a lot more!

In my opinion 2 sucks and 1/3 are very generic. However they've been killing it since with great action movies what's wrong with the general audience? This should be doing 100 million!

@StarlordsDad -2 does legitimately suck.

People say there's never been a bad MI film. Na there has.

I hope it does better, more like in the 80 million range. I love superhero movies but we need to reward quality action movies so the standard is set higher for future ones.

@SwampThing -

I agree with you,
good movies should get more buzz and more box office returns
instead of those AWFUL movies that get 100+ opening weekend and billion+ grossing, yes I'm looking at you michael bay - jonny depp - adam sandler - vince vaungh - jenifer aniston and more other ppl that keep making shitty movies...

you may not like Tom Cruise's personal life
BUT
his movies are AWESOME !
(most of them)
and in regards of the Mission: Impossible movies
they have been getting better and better with each outing !

I think this could break the franchise's record. $60M+ with a chance of making $70M. Can't wait to finally see it tomorrow!

I am rooting for this franchise. I've been watching Mission Impossible movies in theaters since 1996, one of the few remaining franchises with its lead star still in place haha

Tonight's the night! It sounds weird to say Tom Cruise is the greatest action star, but after finding out that he trained to actually do that corkscrew dive in the helicopter by himself, it's a done deal. It's like he testing his lord Xenu haha

His should debut so much higher. We’ve had some crap debut with those numbers and the Missions series are great movies that are only getting better .

Ghost Protocol was the movie that set the blueprint for this franchise. The first 3 feels like it's own little trilogy, but I feel like the fourth one gave it a whole new life and they really got a handle on what these films should be.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Totally, the franchise (to me) feels like two separate trilogies.

Which is, by no means, a bad thing.
