Goldfinger is the third James Bond movie and was released in 1964. In my opinion, Goldfinger is the best of all the Bonds. The movie was directed by Guy Hamilton, who would direct three other Bond pictures. Goldfinger is the Bond movie that has it all. The best villains, the best Bond girl, and the most iconic moments in the series are some of the reasons that Goldfinger still holds up today. The opening pre-title sequence features classic Bond moments. Bond swimming with a duck cap, and the fight where Bond fries a baddy in a bathtube make for an exciting beginning that can't be beat. The whole opening is positively "shocking." I loved Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger theme song. It ranks second in my book to Carly Simon's Nobody Does It Better. The film's plot has Bond investigating gold smuggling by gold magnate Auric Goldfinger and eventually uncovering Goldfinger's plans to attack the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox. Gert Frobe's Goldfinger and Harold Sakata's Oddjob are excellent foes for Bond. The final confrontation between Bond and Oddjob is a in your face physical battle. Honor Blackman is one of my favorite actresses to be in a Bond film. She is the first Bond woman who is strong, yet feminine and sexy. Her character's name speaks for itself. Goldfinger has some of the most iconic dialoge in a Bond film.

Pussy Galore: My name is Pussy Galore.
Bond: I must be dreaming.
Bond: Do you expect me to talk?
Goldfinger: No, Mr. Bond I expect you to die.
The most famous image of Goldfinger is the semi-nude Golden Girl played by Shirley Eaton. A gold-painted Eaton posed for Life Magazine in 1964. Goldfinger also has the most famous car in the world; the Aston Martin DB5. I love this car. For anyone that hasn't seen Goldfinger, just watch out for the red button on the car. Goldfinger was the first Bond film to receive an Academy Award. Norman Wanstall won the Academy Award for Best Sound Effects Editing for his work. Composer John Barry was also nominated for a grammy for Best Music for a Motion Picture. Goldfinger was a major success at the boxoffice. It recouped all of its money in just two weeks. The film also made tons of money on its marketing from toys to T-Shirts. James Bond became a world-wide sensation overnight with this picture.
