It's been thirty-four years, but Maverick is finally back.
While
Top Gun: Maverick had been heavily rumored to have some sort of presence at San Diego Comic-Con this year, fans were left confused when the film wasn't announced for a panel earlier this month when the official SDCC schedule was released. However, it appears the studio was just saving the best for last.
Just moments ago, Tom Cruise - with an assist from Conan O'Brien - shocked the Hall H crowd when he appeared on stage and debuted the first official trailer for his highly anticipated
Top Gun sequel.
The legendary movie star shared a few words before rolling the footage, which has also been released online.
“
34 years ago, I made a movie in San Diego and shot across the street in a restaurant. I was always asked ‘When are you going to do another one?’ Well, you’ve been very patient with me. I felt like it was my responsibility to really deliver for you." He continues "
Everything you see in this film is very real," and labels the sequel "
a love letter to aviation.”
