No Time to Die is Daniel Craig's final James Bond movie, and that appears to be driving people to theaters in a bigger way than expected. The franchise has always done well in North America, but never quite in the same way it frequently breaks records in 007's home, the UK.

However, this latest effort is definitely exceeding expectations as Variety reports that it opened to $6.3 million during Thursday previews. That number is well ahead of Spectre's $5.3 million in 2015 and Skyfall's $4.6 million from advance showing way back in 2012.

We'll have updated numbers a little later today, but current estimates point to No Time to Die earning between $60 million - $70 million for its opening weekend. Considering Spectre debuted to $70 million six years ago, it's definitely beginning to feel like the box office is slowly returning to normal in what's become known as the "pandemic era."

The pandemic has definitely hurt the latest James Bond movie; the budget was already a whopping $250 million, but marketing costs have far exceeded $100 million due to all those release date delays.

In our review of the movie, we said that "No Time to Die is the perfect James Bond movie; action-packed, satisfying, and surprisingly heartfelt, Cary Joji Fukunaga proves an ideal fit for this franchise and helps make sure Daniel Craig, who is phenomenal here, ends his tenure as 007 in style."

Keep checking back here for updates on No Time to Die's U.S. opening weekend.

Great movie.

I just wish we got more of my favorites - Ana de Armas and Rami Malek.

I was expecting to see more of Malek's Safin, who was badass but he was mostly only in the third act (and like two scenes before that).

Nothing tops Casino Royale tho.

@UXASIS - I agree with that. Casino is still his best, but this is neck and neck with Skyfall for me.

Hanz's score reminded me of his score for TDK in certain scenes.

Enjoyed this movie a lot.

James Bond: No Time to Die saw it Friday. 4 Stars / 5 Stars. Biggest issues were it was to long. The main villain was dull and hardly in the movie. This guy killed James Bond? We need a re-boot.

Best Bond Craig! Was so awesome to see him actually get an ending instead of just phasing out like the previous ones

I enjoyed the movie a whole lot more than I was expecting to, and can’t wait to watch it again. I’m still in no rush to go back to a theater again, but it felt like normal; just with people with masks and people without. Pretty crowded, but that’s NYC either way.

I thought it was awesome. Fukunaga is an amazing action director, who knew, Craig delivered a genuine, full-bodied performance, most of the supporting cast was great, except for Rami Malek, whom I simply cannot stand and does not deserve to be the capstone villain of the Craig era. Had Javier Bardem taken this spot, it would have been my favorite of the Craig films. Plot was also needlessly convoluted and incoherent, but that's just a Bond film for you. Great ending, and whomever says otherwise is a baby.

It's great. And they pulled an MCU by retroactively making Specter a whole lot better.

Deserved! Third best of the Craig films, and great send off.
