Well, here's an unexpected surprise. It looks like Ghostbusters: Afterlife star Bill Murray has inadvertently spoiled his involvement in Marvel Studios' upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania!

Human sacrifice! Dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria! Bill Murray has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

During a new interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung to promote his latest release, The French Dispatch, the Academy Award-nominated actor (Ghostbusters: AfterlifeZombieland) revealed that he recently wrapped filming a top-secret role for an undisclosed Marvel Studios project.

However, thanks to translation from The Cosmic Circus, we've safely come to the conclusion that the role in question will indeed be in the upcoming Peyton Reed-directed blockbuster, as he specifically cites Bring It On - Reed's directorial debut - as one of the primary reasons why he's always wanted to work with the filmmaker.

You know, recently I made a Marvel movie. I probably won’t tell you, but never mind. In any case, some people were quite surprised why I decided on such a project. But for me the thing was quite clear: I got to know the director – and really liked him very much. He was funny, humble, everything you want from a director. And with the cheerleader story “Bring It On – Girls United” he made a movie years ago, which I think is damn good. So I agreed, although I’m not interested in these huge comic book adaptations as an actor otherwise.

Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like Murray signed on for a major part, which means he'll probably only appear in a cameo capacity, which should still be plenty of fun. Speaking on his experience, he explains:

Let’s put it this way: the director is a good guy, and now I’ve at least tried out what it’s like to shoot a Marvel movie. But I don’t think I need that experience a second time. And to come back to your previous question: I have mostly had a pretty good knack for avoiding the nasties of this industry. Fortunately, most good artists are also good people. At least that’s how I experience it with my friends.

Murray's involvement was rumored earlier this month after he was reportedly spotted near the set, but now that it seems to have been confirmed, it's time to start speculating on who he might be playing.

Not that he isn’t likable but I’ve never understood the recognition he gets as an actor. He basically plays himself all the time too. And yes I’ve seen his movies where his performance is “critically acclaimed” , but I find it he’s just playing same old Murray just with a good script. I guess it’s because he’s a veteran and has been in one of the most nostalgic movies ever lol. But I don’t think he’s particularly a good actor, or even likable.

Don’t come at me 👀

@MisterDoctor217 - I'm sure we are in the minority, but I don't care for Bill Murray either.

@MisterDoctor217 - I like him and always a joy when he's in something, but I definitely don't hold him very high on the acting pedestal haha.

My all time favorite role of his is in What About Bob.

@BlackBeltJones -

Yeah same here, honestly never seen a movie of his where he plays or exudes a likable character. 😅

Yeah I don’t really get it. Dan Aykroyd seems way more likable to me than him haha.

I actually haven’t seen that one 😅 I’m glad you like him, for me he’s just one of those actors that I don’t get why they are so revered. He’s no Robert DeNiro or Al Pacino lol

A lot of nostalgic movies. Caddyshack, Stripes, SNL, Ghostbusters, Little Shop of Horrors, Scrooged, Groundhog Day ...

Well yeah he’s been in several but arguably the most notable has been Ghostbusters, I mean it’s a franchise that still keeps going lol
