These AQUAMAN Movie-Themed Comic Book Variant Covers Are Definitely Wallpaper Worthy

DC Comics is really starting to build hype for Aquaman and that includes launching some movie-themed variant covers for the upcoming "Drowned Earth" event. Hit the jump to check out the full gallery...

Aquaman is rapidly approaching and while there was some speculation among fans that Warner Bros. might consider delaying the movie due to strong competition from both Bumblebee and the PG-13 rated cut of Deadpool 2, that five-minute preview made it clear that's not happening. As the studio continues to promote the movie, some cool variant comic book covers have now been revealed.

These are all illustrated by different artists, including Francis Manapul, Francesco Mattina, Lucio Parillo, Ben Oliver, Dale Keown, and Nicola Scott. They'll be available as part of the Justice League: Drowned Earth crossover event and are sure to be highly sought after, especially as many put the spotlight on Jason Momoa in the comic accurate costume we saw in live-action at the end of the trailer.

Aquaman and Mera will be fighting side by side for the vast majority of this movie and that promises to be fun to see, especially after Justice League failed to utilise Amber Heard in a satisfying manner.

Many fans believe that Jason Momoa will only wear the classic costume in the movie's final scene but it's been so heavily featured in marketing materials and merchandise, it's surely going to play a big role.

Warner Bros. has realised that strong female characters are a safe bet at the box office and something fans want to see, so don't be surprised if Mera gets a huge amount of screentime in Aquaman

For years, Aquaman has been treated as a joke but Warner Bros. is really pushing the narrative that Arthur Curry is a bona fide badass, hence why the hero is flanked by sharks on this cover.

Arthur Curry won't be decked out in his classic comic book duds for all of the movie, that's for sure. How do we know that? Well, for the most part, we've seen him wearing no shirt and just some jeans!

This is such a gorgeous piece of artwork that Warner Bros. should strongly consider using it as an official theatrical poster. The studio screwed up by not putting Aquaman in this suit in Justice League.
