Robert Downey Jr. On The Deadly High-Stakes In Marvel's AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
Robert Downey Jr. admits the MCU has introduced various cataclysmic scenarios over the years but failed to actually cross pass the point of no return. Avengers: Infinity War will break that mold.
Hydra taking over the world via ultra-S.H.I.E.l.D. helicarriers. The Dark Elves destroying Earth in their pursuit of the Reality Gem. Ultron crashing a meteor into the planet, decimating the population. These "game-ending" scenarios and more have been introduced in the MCU at one point or another but these catastrophes have all been ultimately adverted with little to no casualties (R.I.P. Quicksilver).
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. says that's all about to change.
"Believe me, I’m tired of every movie, you know, “It’s the end! It’s Armageddon! It’s the Be All, End All, Forever!” And then it’s … not. This one actually is. [Laughs] They’re not kidding. This is a heads-will-roll scenario."
But will Tony Stark be among the film's potential casualties? When asked whether he sees his career including 20 more years in the Iron Man suit, Downey admitted he can't envision it.
"I'm definitely a hang up your jersey before they boo you off the court type guy, just because I still have an appropriate fear of embarrassment."
