CBM's Sunday Showdown: Which Is The Better Superteam - THE AVENGERS Or JUSTICE LEAGUE? CBM's Sunday Showdown: Which Is The Better Superteam - THE AVENGERS Or JUSTICE LEAGUE?

Here's a tough one! This week, we're pitting two superteams against each other...The Avengers and the Justice League! They're both undeniably iconic, but which group stands out as the best of the best?

CBM's Sunday Showdown pits two heroes (or villains) against each other to let you, our loyal readers, decide which of them deserves to be crowned the better comic book character.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Earth's Mightiest Heroes assembled in the Marvel Universe for the first time in the pages of Avengers #1 in 1963. Coming together to fight "the foes no single superhero can withstand," the group would continue adding new members to its roster over the years, including reformed villains, mutants, aliens, and more, making them a diverse, exciting group.

Their villains are every bit as incredible, of course, and when the world needs saving, it's the Avengers people turn to. Whether it's the Kree/Skrull War, the Age of Ultron, or even an Infinity War, this group has been through an awful lot, and represent the best of the best when it comes to this world.

On the big screen, this team has found unparalleled success. Avengers: Endgame looks set to be the highest-grossing movie of all-time for the foreseeable future, and everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe revolves around this group. They just so happen to have an iconic battle cry too!

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter first came together as the Justice League of America in The Brave and the Bold #28 all the way back in 1960. From there, the roster would expand massively, often with the best the DC Universe has to offer coming together to protect not just the Earth, but the entire universe.

That's what helps the Justice League stand out from the crowd in many respects, as they're powerful enough to protect the Multiverse from certain doom. They're an impressive, formidable bunch, and when the Justice League gets involved, you know that whatever comes next is going to be a big deal.

Unlike The Avengers, things haven't gone quite as well for the Justice League on the big screen. The 2017 movie was something of a disaster, and it now remains to be seen whether Zack Snyder's Justice League - which is coming to HBO Max next year - can go some way in making up for that.

There's no denying that The Avengers and Justice League are the world's two greatest superhero teams, but we now want you to decide which of them is better! You can do that by casting your vote in the poll below, while we'd love to also hear your thoughts on them in the comments section.

Be sure to check back here next week for the results and another instalment of CBM's Sunday Showdown. If you have any characters you think should be pitted against each other here, let us know!

Last week's results:

Aquaman                       - 59.6%
Namor the Sub-Mariner - 40.4%

I like the avengers better but the DC heroes always felt more op than the marvel heroes.

@MyCoolYoung - Oh for sure. I was gonna say that. The Avengers rule the box office and general audience's hearts, but in terms of physical powers?

The Flash by himself could kill half of the Avengers.

@KWilly - definitely could and he was one of the main ones I was thinking of when I made my post.

Some of the things he can do is ridiculous, not to mention Superman is the ultimate deus machina. It just makes them the better team. The better question would've been more interesting across the different mediums

@DoubleD - Which Supes just grabs by the leg and throws into deep space. Threat nullified.

@inkniron - GEE that never happened to the Hulk. Nothing you can come up with hasn't happen to the Hulk. Hulk been deep space many many many times and still gets around.

Avengers because of their villains are more interesting. JL has like 3 interesting villains.

That's a tough question.

JL has certainly stronger members.

Avengers have better movies obviously, but I like them both.

@DARKSIDEIS - kinda where I was going to go with it. Like for sure JL to save me, but Avengers if I'm just a bystander.

@Cbmfilmjunkie - did the amalgam universe ever actually establish their own team? My guess for a couple of names are Avenging League, West Coast Society, and Young Titans.

OT: David Prowse who portrayed Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy has passed away at age 85. He will be missed.

Justice League have a more powerful line up and probably more well known considering they've been around longer.

But saying that The Avengers have had some heavy hitters in their ranks and better villains and are more of a household name than they have ever been.

So this could end up being a 50/50 split but my vote goes to....

@marvel72 - with the popularity of the MCU I think you’d be hard pressed to claim the Justice League is more we’ll known than avengers anymore.

@MrDandy - Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman have been around since late 30s/40s in comics, have had TV shows and movies made of them.

Green Lantern and The Flash, comics, animation, movie(GL) and The Flash has had two different TV shows, one still going now.
Aquaman and Wonder Woman two billion dollar movies.

Yes I do still believe they are well known especially the trinity.

I like both. I guess accross all media (JL: comics and animation, Avengers: live-action) Justice League comes out on top, but it's too trivial for me pick only one.

Avengers. JL is corny

Avengers easily. Hulk could beat the entire Justice League team including Superman by himself all at the same time :)

Hulk couldn’t beat Tony Stark in a hulkbuster suit
