BATMAN: THE LONG HALLOWEEN Star Josh Duhamel Unsure About Returning As Two-Face In Live-Action (Exclusive)
Josh Duhamel steals the show as Harvey Dent/Two-Face in Batman: The Long Halloween, and the Jupiter's Legacy alum talks to us here about the possibility of reprising the role in a live-action setting...
Batman: The Long Halloween, Part 2 is set to be released on Digital on July 27 (today!), and Blu-ray on August 10, and after that stellar first instalment, there's a lot of excitement about how the story will wrap up. It goes without saying that the cast is phenomenal, and Josh Duhamel's portrayal of Harvey Dent has really struck a chord with fans (his take on Two-Face is even more amazing).
While we had the actor on the phone last week - you can check out the full interview later this week - we had to ask whether portraying a live-action version of this iconic Batman villain would be of interest.
"I don’t know," he admitted. "It’s been done a few times, and it’s been done well. I would certainly consider it. It just depends on who is involved and if they’d even want me!" With that, Duhamel went on to talk about how The Long Halloween gave him the opportunity to take a deep dive into Harvey's transformation into Two-Face. "Typically in these stories, you don’t see how he became this menacing villain. He was just Harvey Dent and then he was Two-Face."
"[In this movie] you kind of get an insight into why he became this and some of the psychological problems and issues he had at home, not to mention the pressures of work...it all becomes a little too much and there are all these factors that lead to it," the actor continues. "This is a train heading down the track and it’s just a matter of time before he completely cracked. It wasn’t until his face became all burnt up from the acid Two-Face really came to the forefront, but who knows? Do you think he would have become this guy had he not been deformed by this acid? It’s interesting, right?"
It certainly is, and as we explained in our review, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two does an amazing job of delving into what leads to the former District Attorney becoming a full-blown baddie.
Duhamel's portrayal is a layered and interesting one, and we'd love to see what he could do with Harvey in live-action (he certainly has the right look to play Harvey - special effects can help with the transformation into Two-Face!). There are currently no solid plans for the villain to return on film or television as far as we know, but he could possibly factor into a sequel to The Batman.
