BOX OFFICE: Early Estimates Point To BLACK PANTHER Beating JUSTICE LEAGUE's Opening Weekend
Marvel Studios' Christmas just came early as box office tracking for Black Panther is pointing to it possibly having an even bigger opening than Justice League! Hit the jump for the latest figures...
Well, early word on Black Panther's box office prospects is here and current forecasts point to it having a $90+ million opening in North America. If so, that will give it the twelfth-highest opening of any Marvel Studios movie. As a result, it beats the likes of Captain America: The First Avenger, Ant-Man, Thor, and Doctor Strange which is far from a bad result. However, could this number rise at all?
Yes, especially as the marketing campaign is only just starting to kick off. Most interesting is the fact that if it can scrape up another $4 million, it will beat Justice League's $94 million debut last month. That would be a huge embarrassment for Warner Bros. as a group of the world's most iconic superheroes being beaten by a little-known Marvel character isn't exactly the best news for DC!
