Black Widow hasn't been released yet, but Taskmaster has divided fans pretty much the start. Marvel Studios' take on the character certainly pays homage to the source material, but it's different enough that not everyone is happy! Well, while we can assure you the villain looks downright awesome in action, this newly released poster may be all the convincing you need!

Inspired by the movie and officially released by Marvel Studios and Disney, it features Scarlett Johansson leaping into action against the formidable Terminator-like villain for what looks set to be an intense battle. It's a gorgeous piece of imagery, and more posters are bound to follow.

We're going to have lots of Black Widow content to share with you soon, including a review at the end of the month. You'll want to check back here on the 29th for the latter.

"In Marvel Studios' Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises," reads the movie's synopsis. "Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger."

In the movie, Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, David Harbour portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz is Melina. Black Widow is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige; Black Widow - the first big screen story in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe - arrives on July 9th both in theaters and on Disney+.

It might Taskmaster's position, but he definitely doesn't look like a dude there. I'm sticking to it being another Red Room program like Black Widow, and not it being Mason (that would just be too obvious).

@ShellHead - Except it's officially released by Disney/Marvel and not fan art.

@kylo0607 - Adam Stothard is the artist, his Twitter literally says "designer based in Bristol with a passion for movie posters"

The Marvel accounts regularly promote fan art in this way.

@ShellHead - it’s pretty boring as fan art too.

A week and a half out from the release?

I already messed up clicking here. I should have gone dark on this one completely after the first embargo lifted. People gonna be trying to spoil the shit out of this.

The poster makes Taskmaster’s shield look Captain America sized.

Amazing how bad the posters for a COMIC book company's movies are. They're all flat, boring, unexciting, lacking any of the composition you'd see on any comic book cover.
