BLADE Movie Starring Mahershala Ali Could Introduce The Daywalker's Daughter Fallon Grey
New details about the Blade movie in the works at Marvel Studios have been revealed, and it sounds like Kevin Feige might be planning to introduce the Daywalker's daughter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
Way back in 2015, Marvel Comics teased the launch of a new Blade series which was set to follow the Daywalker training his daughter, Fallon Grey, to take over from him. This was a time when the company started focusing on a lot of legacy heroes, whether it was Miles Morales as Spider-Man, Riri Williams as Ironheart, or Sam Wilson as Captain America.
The prospect of the title generated a lot of excitement online, but when writer Tim Seeley walked away, he believed Marvel Comics should choose a Black female writer to pen the series, it never happened.
The idea stuck with fans, however, and it's been a rumoured concept for a big screen Blade reboot for many years. Adding further fuel to the fire is the news, via Murphy's Multiverse, that Marvel Studios has put out a casting call for the film seeking a teenage girl named Ruby.
She's described as, "thoughtful, serious, and burdened by growing up in a complex world."
No additional details have been revealed, but speculation is running rampant online that Kevin Feige may have plans to pair Mahershala Ali up with a young, Black female lead. The Daywalker training his daughter would be an original concept, and could put a fresh spin on the franchise.
Stacy Osei-Kuffour is writing Blade's screenplay, though there's no word on a director or release date.
