Thanks to Bleeding Cool, we now know which comic books and graphic novels were the highest-selling of last year. It certainly appears as if the release of Marvel's The Avengers may have given Avengers Vs. X-Men a boost in sales, but it was the ultimately The Walking Dead (which is also a hit AMC television series) which took the top spot. The only other non-Avengers series on the list is Amazing Spider-Man #700; hardly a surprise considering the hype surrounding the landmark issue. Be sure to click on the link at the bottom of the page for more facts and figures.

"United We Stand, Divided We Fall" was better than AvX to me.

i'm surprised that dc didn't make the top ten selling list of comics, perhaps the new 52 novelty has wore off.

also thor god of thunder, indestructible hulk & all new x-men should of made the top ten.

Wow, I expected an event to dominate the single issues and AvX was the only one around, but I never realised how big The Walking Dead had got, since the TV show. That's amazing. Well done, Kirkman. Good stuff.
LOEG slipping in there. Who said Steampunk was dead?
And the other two are Batman GNs. Earth One is awesome and Court of Owls was the big one, so that makes sense.
It's good to see what the majority of people are reading.
Nice one, Josh@.

AvX was crap. All New X-Men is the only good Marvel Now title that I have read.

@marvel72 I believe they have an event coming up so that might bring high end sales to new 52.

AvX was total garbage and All New X-Men is already giving me a headache.
And we've seen that Marvel actually lost market share revenue compared to last year, whereas DC stayed the same and Image bumped up.

avengers 1 was the best title on that list.i brought avx trade paperback so i didn't buy the single issues it was good but could of been better.

@ nomis

yeah it had its moments,i actually found some of the tie in's better than the main issues i.e uncanny x-men 14-17 (mr sinister vs the phoenix five)

Wow not a single DC title.

@ manofsuperguy

yeah you're right we shouldn't buy shit, but i see a lot of quality coming from marvel at the moment.

-all new x-men
-avengers
-new avengers
-thor god of thunder
-indestructible hulk
-journey into mystery
-daredevil
-venom
-hawkeye
-uncanny x-force(even though its just ended)
-x-men legacy
-fantastic four
-deadpool
-cable & x-force

just hope marvel's next event book age of ultron is as great as it sounds.

also believe marvel should ease up on the event books & go back to when they did the self contained storylines i.e x-men titles inferno, fall of the mutants, age of apocalypse,x-cutioners song, extinction agenda & so on.

Ugh seeing that list...I only agree with uncanny and avengers 1 (didn't read walking dead) but all those AvX titles..shit event. And @marvel72 is right, marvel has great books.... like HawkGUY which IMO is the best marvel book out there

AvX sucked. And as a FINALE issue to ASM, ASM 700 sucked too. It would have been an interesting story if the title was continuing, but what a crappy way to go out. STOP KILLING PETER PARKER, MARVEL!!!!

Glad to see The Walking Dead is doing well though. Congrats to them!

This is why we get such bad comics these days...most people who still buy comics seem to have the collector mentality and just buy the comic for the #, crossover, or event change, and not the actual quality of the story.

I'm gonna have to get back into the WD comics. I'm pretty far off, but heard it's doing amazing now.

Really? AvX was a waste. I should have stopped at #1 and saved my money.

The Walking Dead deserves to have all those top spots up there. It truly is a great read. I have all the issues from #1 to #105 and the compendium one. Just awesome stories and each issue is just awesome.
MutantEquality

AvsX had such a great chance. Really. Its core issues were something of great weight.

The rebirth of the Dwindling mutant race by the Phoenix.

Saving the world in a meaningful way for every single person regardless of race or creed by creating sustainable energy, clean water, limitless food, and no more weapons of mass destruction.

To finally see Hope become the Messiah and save the her people after years of death and on the brink of extinction.

So damn close. Damn.

What we got was bickering, finger pointing, ego dick swinging by everybody and Hope turning on her people. We got people blaming everybody else. Instead of walking the hard path...the writers just wanted it over they just let it all fizzle out instead of the most epic story of all time.

We almost had it. Its just our Superheroes just cannot work together. It's not about the greater good...or equality. It's about who gets the credit and that's why we will have never ending heroes vs heroes.

Almost. Almost

MutantEquality
MutantEquality - 1/7/2013, 8:28 PM
That's why it was the most bought story. I mean i bought it and you bought it. If you read Xmen and read Messiah Complex, Second Coming, House of M and everything up to that point we were hoping this was going to be the BIG ONE. Maybe a point of celebration. Everything changes. Mutants actually win one and get to celebrate rebirth, equality and a new beggining. Instead we got heroes out of character, death, betrayal and martyrdom. It's on the list because we believed.

Here's hoping that maybe one day we will get what AvsX was suppose to be.

Okay, the only DC title on the list is the Court of Owls? Is this legit? I'm pretty sure there are a lot of good DC comics out there.
