Covid really messed up everything. This movie was supposed to be out twice at this point. Hopefully it means the finished product is better and I hope that rings true for all the movies that comes out this year where the best possible products are released.

The leak didn't sound super good but sometimes things play out better or screen than on paper.

I know Marvel movies are largely made by committee but it’s kinda odd for them to have an entire cut with little input from the director. Usually they are right there in the editing bay the entire time

There’s still a committee of studio execs. 100%. One of the F&WS or WandaVision directors straight up said they would get 16 pages of studio notes.

It’s par for the course with these blockbusters, probably more so with Marvel given their brand.

@PantherKing - Made by committee just means it’s far more a group effort involving the studio (specifically Feige, Victoria Alonso, and Louis D’Esposito) being more involved than many other movies or franchises, not that there was a literal committee. The fact that a cut of the movie was seemingly out together without much say from the director is very unusual if you ever watch post production diaries, when you get to the editing stage it’s usually primarily the director and editor in a room together the entire time

Interesting that the Director and Editor in this case are so separate in their work. Any one know if this is typical in Hollywood and/or big productions? I always felt like once Disney got involved with Marvel, it has become more of a machine/assembly line rather than the Directors running their shows more independently. If that's accurate or not who knows (not me, duh), but whatever Disney is doing has worked well. Disney now has franchises/content for each age group. I'm interested to see if much like we saw Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and many other celebs start young at Disney and continue into fandom as they got older, will we see young Disney stars become adult MCU stars.

I wonder if all this extra time (for any movie) leads to it being to fine-tuned, resulting in something less than it was before. It's often that when you work on something long, you might get too fixated on the small bits too much
