Ron Howard's WILLOW Is Coming To Blu-ray; Check Out The Trailer

Before The Lord Of The Rings, before Game Of Thrones, we had George Lucas and Ron Howard's fantasy adventure Willow. The 1988 movie is generally seen as a bit of a noble failure, but I for one loved it as a kid. Have a look at the trailer..

For those that might be too young to have seen this all those years ago, it is a fun flick and I'd recommend a watch - despite a pretty wretched performance from Val Kilmer that is.

Special Features:

WILLOW is presented in widescreen with 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio (Lossless). Special features include:
● NEW Willow: Deleted Scenes with Ron Howard
● NEW Willow: An Unlikely Hero Personal Video Diary of Warwick Davis
● The Making of an Adventure with an all new introduction from Ron Howard
● From Morf to Morphing with an all new introduction from Dennis Muren
● Matte Paintings
● Easter Egg

A baby girl is discovered in a river by Ranon and Mims, the children of Willow Ufgood, a dwarf farmer and magician and the baby girl is taken into the care of Willow's family. But when a terrifying dog-like creature attacks Willow's village, whilst tracking down the baby. Willow consults the village council and the wizard The High Aldwin. The High Aldwin gives Willow a task and Willow leaves the village and embarks on the task to give the baby girl to a responsible person. But Willow soon learns the baby is Elora Danan, the baby girl destined to bring about the downfall of the evil sorceress Queen Bavmorda. Joined by his allies: swordsman Madmartigan, sorceress Fin Razel and the Brownies Franjean and Rool, Willow takes it upon himself to protect Elora from Queen Bavmorda, who intends to kill Elora and prevent Elora from fulfilling her destiny. And Willow and his allies are pursued...

Val Kilmer, he had some serious talent. What happened to him? "Bad career choices, tabloid scandals, drug use, alcoholism, weight gain, on-set temper tantrums, fist fights, tonguing Paris Hilton, and The Island of Dr. Moreau" (Lebeaus's Blog)

This film was a near miss but definitely a miss. I watched the Potter films for the 1st time a few weeks ago and I had to think back to this films potential to have been Potter but it just wasnt in the story. And the characters were cliche and weak. And the cute dwarf thing in the 80's films was really never that cute.

@ror I know what you mean I loved that film when I was 9 also because it had iceman from top gun lol in the early 90s Val Kilmer was my favourite actor. I know what you.are thinking because he was also Batman but actually it was after willow, the doors and tombstone so when he was announced to take over from keaton I was all for it, I thought he was ok as Batman at the time but after the saint in 97 he quickly went downhill. But back to willow I watched a bit of it on tv a few year ago and all I'll say is sometimes you wish you were young again lol

I liked Val Kilmer back in the day, but I guess he had some issues and couldn't figure himself out. Don't we all? Hehe. This movie I haven't seen in ages, but I think I'm going to now, just so I can feel like a kid again :)

I'll own this...it really is a classic.
I've seen it countless times growing up, and honestly, it's like a more fun version of all three Lord of the Rings movies rolled into one.

How did anyone not mention the Brownies at this point?

Ror this is a classic!! Val Kilmer showed how good he was especially with comedy. Joanne Whalley is SEXY! Its just a really fun adventure movie.
The last half hours not that great though :)
Still is great fun... We need more movies like this made now. Everyone wants to make serious realistic movies these days.
Movies are supposed to be fun and take you away into another universe ( so yo speak)

Loved as a kid, but i haven´t seen it in ages. I still have the soundtrack, which was magnificent, it was James Horner at his best. Curious to see this soundtrack was used on many other trailers.
