BOX OFFICE: Stephen King's IT Is Now The Highest Grossing Horror Movie Of All-Time
Stephen King's IT has exceeded expectations at the box office since day one and it's now become the highest grossing horror movie ever released, topping The Exorcist. Hit the jump for further details!
As of right now, it's hovering around the $228 million mark and the movie is also nearing $400 million at the worldwide box office. In modern blockbuster terms that may not sound like an awful lot but bear in mind that IT was made for only $35 million, so these are massive profits for Warner Bros. A sequel is currently in the works which will tell the second half of the story but is there a future beyond that?
King wrote just the one story revolving around Pennywise the Clown but it's feasible that the studio could now expand on that by launching spinoffs which delve into the monstrous villain's past. After all, Pennywise rears his head every 27 years and there are a lot of different eras more movies could visit.
We'll have to wait and see but there are already rumblings that Warner Bros. could split the sequel in two! Have you guys seen IT? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section down below.
When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, neighborhood kids band together to square off against Pennywise, an evil clown whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.
