James Cameron confirms all Avatar actors have been released following the completion of filming in New Zealand
Arnold Schwarzenegger sat down today with James Cameron for a candid interview over an "Austrian Stammtisch" to get some updates on Avatar that had recently completed all the actor filming in New Zealand.
Arnold Schwarzenegger had previously interviewed James Cameron during the Austrian World Summit which took place last September where they had spoke candidly about cllimate change and updates on the Avatar series he had been filming in New Zealand.
In today's installment which Arnold calls the "Stammtisch" (a casual Austrian conversation over a drink, lederhosens were optional) his first question was how the Avatar series was comming along. James Cameron began by confirming all actors, principle or otherwise had been released from production "they have to go get another job now" as all filming and motion capture that was required by them had been completed. James Cameron was now in the editing process and he was still doing the operation for the virtual camera filming. He stated Avatar 2 and 3 are "in the can" while part of 4 was done.
As the interview continued James Cameron explained how lucky he was in choosing New Zealand for filming thanks to their Government's efforts to contain the Coronavirus pandemic. James Cameron also stated he had a farm in New Zealand which he usually lived in part for the year so he had a base of operations to return to when New Zealand's lockdown first began. James Cameron explained how his initial decision for picking New Zealand for filming was practical as the digital production studio behind Alita Battle Angel and The Planet of the Apes series was based in New Zealand as was Peter Jackson's Lord of the Ring's sound stage studio.
The conversation continued as they both talked about climate change, current politics and environmental themes integrated into the Avatar series. As the interview ended Arnold asked one last question, if James Cameron could give him any scoops to which James Cameron said "Let me just show you in my Avid... oops just kidding."
Avatar 2 is set for release on December 16th 2022.
