We've had two trailers and quite a few promos for Denis Villeneuve's upcoming Dune adaptation, but these latest character videos spotlight a trio of villainous characters we haven't seen very much of thus far.

The first features new footage of the movie's big bad, the ruthless Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgård). This take on the grotesque tyrant is described as "a force of malevolence, determined to feed his addiction to brutality. A gravity-defying monster of a man, gliding through the air like a phantom, the imposing figurehead of House Harkonnen ensures his family stands in stark opposition to House Atreides, ruling through fear, and determined to exploit the natural resources of Dune no matter the cost to its people."

Next, we have Dave Bautista as the Baron's muscle, Glossu "The Beast" Rabban, who is said to be "as animalistic and savage as his given name implies, the “Beast” Rabban is the towering enforcer and nephew of the sadistic Baron Harkonnen. Tasked with securing the Baron’s empire by any means necessary, he is a brutal force of nature, prone to explosive and petulant bouts of rage. Of those that cross him, few live."

Finally, The Suicide Squad's David Dastmalchian will play the Twisted Mentat (a human computer)Piter De Vries, who "uses the cunning and venom of his poisoned mind to carry out Baron Harkonnen’s malevolence, while staying one step ahead of his fierce rival Thufir Hawat in the ever-turning game of psychic warfare between the Houses of power."

We found out that the sci-fi adaptation had been pushed back from October 1 to October 22 last month. A recent poster confirmed that movie is still set to debut simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max, and we also got word that it will have its out-of-competition world premiere on Friday, September 3 at the Toronto International Film Festival.

For those unfamiliar with the source material, Dune follows the Atreides family as they relocate to the desolate planet of Arrakis to assume control of the production of the most valuable resource in the galaxy, the Spice Melange. Unfortunately, an act of treachery soon makes an outcast of The Duke Atreides' youngest son Paul, and he must accept his destiny as a powerful prophet of the Arrakis natives known as The Fremen.
