JURASSIC WORLD: CAMP CRETACEOUS Exclusive: Scott Kreamer Discusses Making The Show With Spielberg & Trevorrow

The animated series companion to the Jurassic World franchise, Camp Cretaceous, just launched its second season on Netflix, and we spoke exclusively with showrunner Scott Kreamer about the Dreamworks show.

The Jurassic Park franchise has spanned decades and generations of fans. There have been several films, from the original classic with Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill, to the revival of the series with Chris Pratt's Jurassic World.

Most recently, Dreamworks and Netflix were able to find a great way to appeal to young viewers with an animated companion series, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.

The animated show explores children in the same universe and the same canon that the Jurassic World movies occupy. To ensure that everything fits smoothly, Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow both help to oversee the series along with showrunner Scott Kreamer.

Kreamer spoke with us exclusively to help promote the new season, which just hit Netflix on Friday. You can hear him detail his relationship with the different creatives and what lengths Colin Trevorrow goes to make sure the show is the best it can be below.

"When I worked at Dreamworks for the first time back in the late nineties, I was a story editor, a head writer on a show called Steven Spielberg Presents Toonsylvania. So I had a couple of meetings with Steve way back when, and then it was exciting to get to walk him through what we're doing on this show. This is my first time getting to meet Frank Marshall. I got to hear Frank Marshall tell stories from the set of Raiders of the Lost Ark, which was phenomenal.

And Colin Trevorrow has been very involved and very generous with his time. He sat in the writer's room numerous times when it comes to story, or also if he knows what's coming up. And so if we're heading in the wrong direction or in some cases that we're heading in too similar a direction, having Colin around to course-correct has been great. And at the end of the day, these are three amazing storytellers, and just having them, and their input and their trust meant everything for the show."
