Former HAN SOLO Prequel Directors Speak For The First Time About Being Fired From The Production

Chris Miller and Phil Lord, directors of The LEGO Movie & creators of animated TV show Clone High, discuss losing their gigs as directors for the upcoming Star Wars prequel film, Solo: A Star Wars Story...

During an MTV Panel, Chris Miller and Phil Lord publicly discussed, for the first time, their troubling departure from Solo: A Star Wars Story. While not elaborating too much, they did admit that executive producer Kathleen Kennedy did not agree with their vision of the story and eventually, they were let go.

Here's what Lord has to say about their departure (via Vulture):

“We had the most incredible cast and crew and collaborators. I think in terms of us leaving the project, I think everybody went in with really good intentions and our approach to making the movie was different than theirs. That was a really big gap to bridge, and it proved to be too big.”

Miller and Lord were replaced last summer by Ron Howard, known for directing Rush and Apollo 13.

The duo still has a lot on their plate, planning to direct the upcoming untitled animated Mile Morales Spider-Man film in 2018, as well as The Lego Movie Sequel in 2019.
